The Express took men and rode them hard across the West. That adventuring spirit belonged to men full of life, ready for whatever met them on the trail, everything, except for love. Ellis Cooper found himself in with a bad crowd and when the going got tough, the others left… left him to rot in jail. Finally released from prison, his uncle found him a job with the Pony Express. He’s determined to … determined to live on the straight and narrow. It wasn’t just to avoid getting on the wrong side of the new marshal, Thomas Halston. Ellis wanted to do the right thing because the Marshal’s pretty daughter makes him wish he could go back and change all of his bad decisions and make them right. But how is a lawman going to trust his only daughter to a man who spent time behind bars?
Virginia Halston wonders if her father’s new home will become one for her as well. That includes some rather disconcerting moments with the new express rider. Everyone seems to warn her away from Ellis, but there’s something in his eyes that only make her want to get closer to him. Is it so wrong for her to give him a little bit of her heart when he’s trying so hard to do the right thing for once in his life?
While it seems like everyone is trying to keep Ellis and Virginia apart, they’re only getting closer. As some of his old acquaintances try to draw him back into the darkness, Ellis has to make a decision: stand up against them and lose Virginia, or lose his soul forever?

Whew! I didn’t know how that would all turn out!
I hope Matthew gets closure in the last book, he’s been peekabooing throughout the series, but, I still have no idea what’s going on with him.
Ellis and Virginia are delightful new characters, but I don’t understand the location of the epilogue!
I fall in love with this town more with each new book. Second chances are so important. Whether it’s at romance or life, we all deserve them. This book has the perfect mix of romance, family and suspense.
Always, Ellis is the fifth book on the Three Rivers Express series. Reina Torres has done it again. She has written a story with characters that while flawed have redeeming quality while painting a picture of life in the west and as a pony express rider. A sweet romance that will touch your heart and have you rooting for a HEA. The added bonus is catching up with characters we met in previous books.
Always, Ellis is a sweet western romance and a great addition to the Three Rivers Express series. Ellis and Virginia have lived totally different lives but destiny has brought them together. Can Ellis overcome his past and will Virginia’s father accept their relationship? This is a well written book with believable characters and a beautiful story. Love this series and I’m looking forward to the next book.
This is such a great series! Ellis tries to start fresh by becoming a Pony Express rider. He has a shy, endearing personality that I fell in love with. Ellis is captivated by Virginia, the marshal’ s daughter. Virginia surprised me! She was a lot more sassy and feisty than I thought she would be. They were a perfect match and their scenes together were pure joy. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!
Oh my Gosh…I loved the story of Ellis and Victoria. It made me smile and laugh. It was serious in some spots and a story that second chances are possible if you are willing to try. I enjoyed this romance so much for its innocence and sweetness. I read plenty of erotic books and MC romances but Reina’s books always warm my heart and leave me turning the last page feeling happy and believing in true love again. I have read several books in this series and have enjoyed them all!
Reina Torres once again transports us to the days of when the “Wild West” was being settled, a time in history that was both exciting yet fraught with danger. Ellis Cooper is a good man who in his youth made a very bad choice. As a result, he has paid his debt to society but the stigma of that choice remains with him. Ellis heads to Three Rivers searching for a fresh beginning, lured there by his beloved uncle and the promise of a job with the brand new Pony Express.
Virginia Halston is used to traveling to new towns with her father, a US Marshal. Since her mother’s death, Virginia has kept her father’s household together, but feels isolated from him and from making friends due to the constant moves. Virginia takes on sewing jobs to earn money for setting up a home, and Ellis steps up to be her handyman. Soon the lawman’s daughter and the ex-convict develop a friendship and connection. But the road to romance is not smooth for these two….
Everyone loves a redemption story, and this one is a lovely one! Obviously Ellis is seeking that redemption, and he clearly earns it. But others throughout the story are seeking their peace and place to redeem themselves. Ms. Torres paints every scene with emotion: from the realistic and often smart dialogue between the characters to observations about the town, the reader can literally feel the moments with every paragraph. And as with all the Three Rivers books, there is a thread of suspense and mystery that will engage you to the end. I have fallen in love with Three Rivers and all I have met there – you will too!
Loved this sweet old west town and this heartwarming romantic adventure filled with danger, secrets, redemption and undeniable passion…..
Ellis Cooper is a sweet, sexy, charming and hard working man that is desperately trying to overcome a past full of bad choices and become a better man. Virginia Halston is a head strong, sassy and determined woman in town long enough to help her father set up house only to be drawn to Ellis and this interesting new town. Highly entertaining and engaging reading.
Sweet Western Romance – I really enjoyed this book. This is Book 5 in the Three Rivers Express books. I enjoyed reading about Ellis. Ellis Cooper is a searching for a second chance as a Pony Express Rider. He had just been released from jail and his Uncle Samuel suggested that he join him. Virginia Halston is the daughter of Marshall Halston. Virginia and her father have been moving from town to town, never staying too long in one spot. Virginia is enjoying her time with the other ladies and is creating friendships – almost like sisters. Would Virginia’s father allow his only daughter to court a man who was released from jail?
The book does contain a few twists that were not expected. I really enjoyed reading about Ellis and Virginia.
When I got this book, I dove in before I realized that this is book 5 in a series, and all I can say is that I am going to read the 4 previous book, because I liked this one so much. I loved the characters! If you love second chance stories, then I can highly recommend this book. I was rooting for Ellis to make the most of his new start with the pony express and for Virginia to be able to finally find a place to belong. The sweet romance was refreshing, the suspense was just the right amount and the plot was well balanced between the hard-working Ellis, trying to prove himself and accepting Virginia, looking to find a place to call home. Great read!
A sweet historical romance centered around the pony express.
A truly sweet romance of hardworking Ellis coming to Three Rivers to focus on his future and put his criminal past behind him. He struggles a bit to fit in and not everyone was welcoming. Virginia, also new to town, gives him the chance to prove himself trustworthy. A sweet romance with likeable characters and a story that leaves you with a smile.
Who doesn’t love a good cowboy story? I know I do! Ellis Cooper recently released from Prison wants a new life. He was young and unaware he was being set up to take the fall when he was arrested and sent to Prison for robbery. He is sent to Three Rivers to live and work near his uncle. His new job is to learn to be a Pony Express Rider!
Virginia Halston is the protected daughter of the new Marshal in town. Raised by her father after the untimely death of her mother. He wants nothing more than to protect her.
Something is brewing between these two along with a little danger thrown in from Ellis’s past.
I began this book and read it quickly. It was just that good and exciting. I know you will love it and be drawn in as fast as I was. Reina Torres has a way of pulling you right into the story and you feel like you are back in time right along with her characters!
I received an ARC of this book for review. All opinions are my own.
I love how Reina Torres writes such wonderfully sweet historical western romances with so much feeling. Lots of “aww” moments. Reading the interactions between Ellis and Virginia always made me smile because they were just so cute. Such sweet innocence back then. And this story had a little bit of action in it to which kept the story moving along at a pretty quick pace. Loved every moment of this story.
If you love historical western books, then you will absolutely love Always, Ellis. This is the fifth book of the Three Rivers Express series and centers around Ellis and Virginia. Ellis recently got out of prison and Virginia is the Marshall’s daughter. How is this going to work and will Marshall Halston ever allow Ellis to court his only daughter? I loved catching up with previous characters and I can’t wait to read more from Reina Torres. If you love a sweet, clean romance that centers around small town living, family, and unconditional love, then please grab your copy and fall in love with Ellis Cooper.
When Ellis gets released from prison, for a crime he didn’t commit, he has to build a new life for himself. His uncle helps him to get a job at The Express. Virginia lives with her dad, the marshal, in Three Rivers. She is a bit too protected by her father. Ellis is immediately attracted to Virginia but he does not think he is good enough for her. But then they become friends, and even more,But why stops Ellis seeing her? What had happened, had he lost his interest in her or is there more happening?
I enjoyed this book about taking second chances and discovering more than just your own small world immensely, lovely side characters too.
This is my first book in this series but I’m going back to read the other books in this series.
