From the author of the Kellington series of Regency romances, comes the fourth book in the Emerson saga.Nicholas Chilcott is the Earl of Layton, though his biological father was actually the late Earl of Ridgeway. When Nick’s cousin Simon challenges him for the title, Nick must travel to the coastal village of Weymouth to uncover secrets from the past. But, instead, he finds the woman he wants … woman he wants to build his future with.
Kate Winston serves as the church archivist, while trying to evade the unwanted advances of the new vicar. When a handsome earl comes to town on a mission, she cannot resist helping him, though she has no desire to join his world in the ton.
As Nick and Kate work to find answers to the past, they discover a passion that neither can deny.
ADVISORY: ALWAYS BELIEVE IN LOVE is, technically, historical romance. But it is very light on the history and rather heavy on the passion. It has adult situations and graphic sexual content. You will not like this book if you don’t like those things. It does contain some information about fish. You might like that part of the story if you like fish.

I skip over the steamy stuff. But enjoyed the story.
I don’t prefer books with overt sexual content so it would be nice if that were noted somewhere in the purchasing process on Amazon; however, I did truly enjoy the style of the book enough to give it a recommendation. The humor and instant connection because of it between Nick and Kate was charming…and the humor was done well. I also appreciated that both characters were strong and well-developed rather than heavily-weighted to one or the other. Additionally, I was captivated that Driscoll established their relationship in the middle of the book, instead of toward the end so that they could work together rather than dragging it to the end to have their happily-ever-after.
I usually enjoy this authors books but just couldn’t get into this one. I’m sure others will like it though.
I really enjoyed the book. The dialogue between the two main characters is very witty. The story is very upbeat, the large family the hero belongs to are very supportive of each other.
One of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors
Very enjoyable reading. One of those rainy day, get comfy, have tea to drink, chocolate in a bowl, books.
Sweet read without so much explicit sex
Great addition to the series
My only beef with this book is that the ending felt abrupt. Questions left unanswered. But the characters are adorable and their journey to their happily ever after made me want to stay up all night to read it!
Can’t wait to read more by this author.
This is Nick’s story. A true Emerson, but born to the Countess of Layton, result of an affair. Since he was the third son, he never expected to inherit, but did. On his quest for a traitor, he meets Kate. Their adventures, along with the rest of the Emersons and their lifetime friend, the Marquess of Grayson, opens the last piece of a long series of blackmail, treason and murder. All to be solved in next book. The love and devotion of these characters is inspiring especially since all three sets of parents were harsh, cold and devoid of love. Wonderful series, where one book unfolds pieces of the puzzle into the next, all coming to light in the following book. I love each one! Ms. Driscoll has a gift of telling a thrilling story of romance, but with such adventure and hardships. Her characters are admirable and keep their dignity and honor without succumbing to misery and self-pity Of course, finding true love along the way is a gift. Very enjoyable and memorable!
Loved the entire series….they became like friends
Loved the strong, smart heroine.
Good for a lazy day
I have enjoyed all of Maureen Driscoll’s books. The Kellingtons and the Emersons are wonderful characters and I loved reading about their difficult but ultimately triumphant search for love. I wish there were more books in these series so the sories could go on & on. I look forward to more from this author.
Pretty typical sexy English romance novel, but fun to read.
I thought the ending was too abrupt.
I really liked the book!
I don’t remember.
Left too many events from the story unanswered.
