Always Be My Baby was previously in an anthology called 10 Things I Love About You: A Love in the ’90s Anthology.Cammy is so furious when she catches her boyfriend kissing another girl at a frat party that she storms out of her own apartment. Letting go of your first love is not an easy thing to do, and he makes it harder by swearing he’s innocent and trying to win her back. But when Cammy meets … Cammy meets Grayson Parker, he shows her how different some guys can be. Can Cammy trust her boyfriend and give him another chance? Or will she allow Grayson to heal her wounds and erase the scars?

I just fancied a short read and have read other books by this author, though not in this contemporary genre. I love the image on the cover and remember a character in another book saying she would know when she was when love as when she kissed her true love her leg would kick up. That is what I immediately thought of when I saw the cover!!
The main female character in the book is Cammy, who has been dating her boyfriend Lucas for quite a while. There is a difficult discussion looming about what they will be doing next as their “next steps” in their careers with have them living in totally different area’s and having to cope with a long-distance relationship. However, before that happens Cammy walks in at a party a little later than expected and spots her boyfriend Lucas, kissing another a girl!
Cammy isn’t sure what to do. On one hand her relationship with Lucas is something she feels she wants to hold onto. Then she is unexpectedly asked to join a study group by the rather hot guy called Grayson Parker. According to Cammy’s roommate all the girls have been after Grayson. It becomes apparent that Grayson cares for Cammy as more than “just a friend” but he is very gentlemanly and doesn’t put any pressure on Cammy to make a decision.
When Cammy becomes ill both suitors reveal their individual “caring” sides which end up making her decision much easier about who she feels she wants to be with.
My immediate thoughts upon finishing the novella were I just fancied a short read and have read other books by this author, though not in this contemporary genre. To sum up I really enjoyed this novella, it was short, sweet and had a happy ending. Once I started reading, I didn’t stop until the end! I had to know what decision Cammy would make. At times I felt like shouting at Cammy about who to choose. I would definitely read more from Mary Ting in this contemporary genre. The novella did also make me think about why there are so many Lucas characters in the world and not enough Grayson’s.
Loved this novella! Set back in the 90s, I loved the references to pagers and what life was like dating back then! A refreshing read and thoroughly enjoyed it! Great job!

Awww… Such a cute first love story. A short and quick read, but it was a heartfelt story. A lot of references from the ’90s that I can almost relate to..haha! I read this in a few hours! All the emotions I felt reading this reminded me of my post-high school/college days; the good, the bad, the fun times, the hard times, and the sad times.
I just love how Mary Ting brings on all the feels in her romance stories, and she did it in this novella. Want something to read that is reminiscent of the ’90s?!? Always Be My Baby will do just that. Sure did bring back some of my memories.

This storyline is a bit of sweet and short with a touch of first love heartache and once in a lifetime love. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flows smoothly from beginning to the end.

I liked the way the author had three POVs showing the internal dialogue of the three main players in this sweet YA romance.
Cammy caught her boyfriend of one year kissing another girl at his frat party.
This started the age old relationship drama of love, betrayal, trust and when to let go.
Even though Cammy knew in her head that Lucas had betrayed her, she still had difficulty letting go.
A realistic depiction of the hard choices couples face in maintaining their relationships.
Luckily Cammy has the chance to see Lucas with her own eyes as his true character was revealed.
I like the way the author did not demonize any of the characters as Cammy moved on and found her true love with Greyson.

Cammy sees her boyfriend kissing another girl at a party and quickly leaves. But Grayson Parker is ready to take his chance and she finds out how different other guys can be. In those initial relationships, you may put up with poor behavior as you are learning about dating and developing expectations. But when you can clearly see the differences in how you are treated, you sort of “take the blinders off” and decide what you are willing to accept. Can Cammy trust her boyfriend who claims he didn’t do anything wrong? Should she give him another chance? Or will she give that chance to Grayson to show her how he feels about her? What does she want for herself?
I love the 90’s references just for nostalgia’s sake. And the situation is reminiscent of those tough dating days. Very well done!
Such a cute story. Grayson is so swoon worthy. A story that most can relate to. I hope there is more to Cams and Grayson’s story
A short and sweet story about love in the 90s. It was realistic and romantic. Not only is it about love, but also finding self worth.I loved reading about Cammy’s journey. Great read
This was a wonderful little read that had some great 90s references in it #nostalgia and I loved the feel of the book with the everything happens for a reason as I am a big believer in that!
“There are two kinds of men in the world, mom had told me once. There was the kind that loved women so much that his eyes wondered and the kind that would love only one woman devotedly.” -Cammy
*Sniff Sniff* This short story was heartbreaking, yet sweet and romantic all at the same time.
The characters were phenomenal. I loved reading and getting to know Cammie. I felt a real connection to her and this story because not long ago the same thing happened to me. I totally know and understand that heartache all too well and could so relate to the character. And that love between Cammie and Grayson was truly genuine and I so know that feeling too because this also happened to me and the love of my life that I now have.
“You’ll always be my baby.” -Cammie
And what a beautiful statement and the perfect title for this book. The story-line was so very sweet, innocent and memorable. I loved the words of wisdom that was weaved throughout the story and the underlining lesson to be learned too. Mary Ting made a fiction story feel so real with the characters and her words and left me crying tears of sadness and joy. It’s the perfect love story for all ages to enjoy and love for years to come. I know for sure that this will be a story that will stay within my heart for a long time and I highly recommend this amazing short story.
Was fortunate enough to be able to read this story when it was previously published. This is a very short and sweet story. I loved the characters but I especially love how Mary Ting referenced so much from the 90s and it just brought back memories. Def a cute story you will def want to pic up.
This is a cute story of first love and never settling. Cammy is sweet and trusting until she comes face to face with Lucas’s manner. When Grayson see’s his chance to get to know Cammy better , he takes it and it is the best decision he ever made. The moral of this story is to not settle. You can find live when you least expect it.
