New Hope, South Carolina is my home. It’s where I grew up, got into trouble, and fell in love for the first time. Scarlett Kincaid was more than the girl next door, she was my best friend, until she decided that small town life wasn’t for her. One minute she was here, and the next she was gone. The girl I used to fish with down at the creek is now the biggest name in country music. She headlines … headlines world tours, has won four Grammy’s, and I haven’t seen her since. Until today when she sped through town in her fancy car. One look at her big brown eyes was all it took to stir up a whole slew of emotions. Emotions I’d long ago buried and sure as hell don’t have time for. It’s the aftermath that’s hard¿There are two things in my life that matter. My music, and my dad. Twelve years ago, I packed a bag and chased my dream. Leaving New Hope and escaping the gossip mill was the easiest decision I ever made. I never planned to return, but my father needs me, and he always comes first. So, I did what I had to do. I cut my tour short and came home, despite having a sister who hates me, and a community that doesn’t trust me. And then there’s Tucker Andrews. When he propped an arm on the roof of my car, pulled down his sunglasses and flashed his police badge, I nearly swallowed my tongue. Gone is the lanky boy who used to throw rocks at me and pull my pigtails. Tucker is now a six-foot package of brawny, sexy man wrapped in more muscle than I have hit singles. Did I mention he’s a cop and a single dad?My goal was to help Dad, and get back to my life. But what am I supposed to do when the life that used to strangle me suddenly fits like a glove, and makes me dream of things I never thought I’d have?

Already Gone was co-written by K.L. Grayson and Kristen Proby, I will be honest this is my first K.L. Grayson book but I won’t be my last!
Who’s says you can’t go home and back to you roots? Scarlett Kincaid comes home to her small town after hitting big as one of the hottest country starts to help take her of he dad. Unfortunately or for her fortunately the one that got away (which she now realizes), lives right next door to dear old dad.
Tucker Andrews, her best friend growing up, that has loved her is whole life, is now a small town cop and single dad to his daughter. At first he is not quite sure what to think about having Scarlett back home, but then comes to realize this time he is not going to let her get away.
The secondary characters will have you loving them, or wanting to scratch a certain siblings eyes out. Don’t miss out on the fabulous read from these two wonderful authors.
If you picked this book up without seeing it was written by two authors you would never know because every chapter flows and honestly I couldn’t tell you who wrote what. I loved everything about this book from the authors writing to the small town of New Hope and everything in between, I fell big time for characters and if you love small town romance this will be a book you won’t want to miss. Scarlett and Tucker were childhood friends and now a decade later are reconnecting but will they be able to put the years of silence behind them and will they become more than the best friends they were in their youth …..this book certainly has all the feels you would expect in a great read , it’s a beautifully written love story centred in a small town add in a single dad and you get perfection.
Great read and great job from two very talented authors.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Scarlett left New Hope right after High School to pursue her big dream.
She has not been home for 12 years.
When her father has a stroke, it is time for Scarlett to go back home.
Tucker was Scarlett’s best friend, when they were growing up.
But she left without even saying goodbye to Tucker.
Is Tucker ready to give Scarlett a second chance ?
It would be too easy for Scarlett just take care of her dad, then go back to Nashville, and forget New Hope.
However, New Hope is still home for Scarlett.
It is time for Scarlett to put on her big girl pants and deal with the consequence of her absence.
I was rooting for Scarlett and Tucker
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
A little over ten years ago Scarlett Kincaid packed her bags, and left home armed with a dream of seeing her name in the big lights in Nashville, not realizing how much her sudden departure would hurt those around her. While her move to the big music city paid off for her, it also drove a huge wedge between her and the ones she loved.
With touring and her busy schedule she hasn’t been home to visit in over ten years, and that is about to come back and bite her soon. After her father falls ill, and her overwhelmed sister begs for her help taking care of him, she decides it’s time to take a break from her career. And focus on what is important… mending fences with those she loves and that love her.
But minutes after returning to town, she earns a special one on one visit with one very agitated and sexy police officer. In her plans of returning home she forgot to add possibly running into old friends to her list… but no mental check list could have prepared for the moment Tucker Andrews would come walking back into her life.
Already Gone is a story of second chances, forgiveness, and finding the courage to let love in, even when you are hesitant to believe you deserve a chance at it. Within the pages of this beautifully crafted novel lies a story that is certain to put a squeeze your heart, it’s words will bring feels and swoons, and stir up moments that will leave you smiling and fill your heart with joy. It was evident that these two had something special, sure they had the undeniable chemistry, but there was also a something so natural and believable about there relationship, like they were the missing piece to one another lives. I loved every minute of this one, it’s touching words had me completely entranced from beginning to end!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Great job done by both authors writing this story! I loved every second of it! 5 stars for this one!
Meet Scarlett, big country music star, left her family and hometown behind when she hit it big! Now her dad needs her help, so she’s headed back to the town she didn’t think she’d ever go back to, and see exactly what is missing in her life, especially her best friend, Tucker.
Tucker was so in love with Scarlett, but they were always just friends, but now that she’s back in town, he wants more, but can he compete with the bright lights of stardom? Read along and find out!
A sweet love story.
This is kind of a second chance romance between a single dad cop and country popstar.
Scarlett and Tucker have known each other since they were really young, but after she left to pursue her dreams, he was left behind, as well as her family.
When Scarlett’s father gets sick, she is forced to face her hometown again and make some the ammends that are long overdue.
It was sweet and funny, and the secondary characters were awesome (and I honestly hope we can get Dean and Scooter’s books as well).
But the point is that I loved them more than I did the hero and heroine.
Scalett had a big heart, we could see that. But she was also selfish and spoiled. There were times I couldn’t even believe she was a grown woman. Chloe could be even more mature, and she was only eleven.
Tucker was an amazing father and he accomplished so much, but he was really insecured for a man who raised a kid all by himself and became a respected cop.
Of course both of their careers were important, and I loved that they valued that, but Scarlett seemed to think that all she had to do was throw some money and everything would be all right, people would love, everyone would forgive her for being absent.
In general, I liked the story and and enjoyed myself reading it. I mean, I love romance, and this book has it!
But as I said, I loved the secondary characters more, so I can’t wait to meet them again.
“The moment when two extremely talented individuals collaborate, it makes for a phenomenal conclusion!”
This was a story of first loves and second chances. Scarlett and Tucker were best friends as children, but Scarlett fled her small town the moment she graduated, longing for a bigger life. Tucker loved his small town and stayed to raise his daughter Chloe.
After Scarlett’s father having some heath problems, she comes back to the town she was raised in. Tucker is instantly reminded of how smitten he was with her, despite the anger he holds from her leaving.
They both fall back to the easy relationship they had growing up, but soon it’s realized that they both want so much more than a friendship.
How can two individuals make a relationship work when neither one is willing to compromise? Will one of them give up their way of life to make the relationship work? Or will it be just the past recreating itself, when she is already gone?
Thank you KL Grayson and Kristen Proby, for allowing me the privilege of reviewing an advanced copy of Already Gone!
A true love story! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Friends to lovers and so much more! This is about family and overcoming obstacle. Everyone has family issues but how you handle it can tell you everything! The Mega Country Music Star comes home for her family but will the best friend she can’t keep out of her dreams become her family! This is truly a childhood love story you won’t want to put down!!!!
Sometimes we don’t know what we’re missing until we return. Scarlett left New Hope to follow her dream of being a country star and never looked back. Yes she flew her dad out to her concerts but she never returned home. Not until her dad suffered a stroke and she had to come home to take care of him. Now a decade later she is home. As time goes by she now realizes exactly what she left behind. One of the things she left was Tucker. True she was mean to him when people were around when they were younger but they were friends when they were alone. Tucker was more than hurt the day she left and now he finds that the feelings he had for her never really went away. During the time Scarlett helps her dad mend and get back on his feet she and Tucker rekindle what they once had. They don’t really discuss the elephant in the room. What will happen when her dad makes a full recovery and she has to go back to Nashville and her fans and her career. They love each other but is it enough to do long distance or what kind of relationship can they have. They both have their own careers and responsibilities. What kind of compromise will they have to do.
One thing this story showed me is you can never forget where you came from. Fans, fame, money are great things to have in life but love is so much stronger and fulfilling. Tucker reminds Scarlett of what is missing in her life and what she can now have in her life if she accepts his love and they find a way to make it work.
Scarlett Kincaid loved being famous. After leaving New Hope and never looking back. She is finally coming home after 12 years to care for her dad who had a stroke. Now she is realizing all that she left behind.
Tucker Andrews was devastated the day his best friend left and never looked back or contests him again. Now Scarlett is back in town caring for her dad. Can they mend their fences and can Tucker finally get the girl he always wanted.
Loved this book and couldn’t put it down. Sometimes fate gives you a second chance and you have to grab it by both hands and hold on tight!!
This was really a sweet little love story and I enjoyed watching these two characters who started out in life and have drifted so far apart find their way back to each other. There was some hysterical supporting characters who I would love to see get their own books as well! Great read!
A great contemporary read with low angst. Coming home is hard, especially when you leave your best friend behind. Years later, Tucker and Scarlett reconnect and sparks fly. I enjoyed this storyline about growth and navigating a new complex relationship. Definitely worth the read.
The book tells the story of the couple Scarlett Jane Kincaid and Tucker Lee Andrews.
She, a successful and award-winning country singer, who left her small hometown of New Hope, South Carolina, to find herself; and that only happened when she arrived in Nashville.
He is a cop in New Hope, a single parent who loves what he does and realizes that he still has strong feelings for his former high school friend.
Scarlett had not been in town for twelve years, but when she discovered that her father had suffered a stroke, she rescheduled the last two shows to take care of him.
While dealing with this, she still had to deal with her younger sister, Alexis (or Lexis) who was hurt by the loss of her sister, and showed it clearly with harsh words.
And Tucker, the neighbor and best friend, who has always been there for her, but doesn’t hide the dislike of her return.
Despite never feeling well in the small town where everyone knew each other and knew each other’s lives, on this return, Scarlett discovers the true meaning of the word HOME. In addition, old feelings come back and stir her — both of them in fact — making them wonder if it would be worth investing in a relationship doomed to failure by distance.
Tucker would not leave New Hope, where he was raised and was raising his daughter, Chloe. Scarlett would not give up the career she fought bravely.
Could there be a commitment to love?
———-
Although it has a cliché plot, the characters are deliciously engaging. There is no way not to get emotional in some parts, be angry or hope that everything works out.
This writing partnership is definitely a success.
5 stars
Already Gone is a collaboration between Kristen Proby and K. L. Grayson. Scarlett Kincaid is one of country music’s biggest stars who finds herself called back to her hometown of New Hope, South Carolina. Upon arrival she finds herself in a situation with her childhood best friend, Tucker Andrews. Wow, Tucker can sure fill at a uniform now! Tucker is handsome, sweet, heart of gold, and a local cop with a 11 yr old daughter, Chloe. Chloe is the sweetest girl who completely loves her father even though at times they do have their struggles. Tucker has been raising Chloe alone from the moment she was born, doing a very fine job at fatherhood too! I found that I totally fell for all the characters in this small town. This is a sweet, lovable, second chance romance. Of course Scarlett finds herself facing some old demons and rises to the challenge to set things right. Already Gone is a quick, easy, and fun weekend escape. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey to New Hope, South Carolina. I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review, 4 stars****
The thing with small towns is that everyone knows everyone else’s business. The animosity between sisters, the family bond between brothers (and cousin), a father who would do anything for his daughter and a daughter who puts her life on hold for her father. This story has it all, the drama, the angst, the heartfelt moments that make you swoon and enough steam to melt your insides.
There’s nothing quite like a second chance at your forever. Though there are twists, turns and bumps in the road, when Tucker and Scarlet come face to face after 12 years it doesn’t take them too long to figure out who they want in their respective futures. Communication is key but sometimes when things don’t go according to plan, we need our actions to speak for us because our words have failed.
Will the one time small town girl give up big city living or will Tucker pull up the roots he worked so hard to grow for he and Chloe and relocate, or will it all be too late?
Scarlett and Tucker are such a magnificent couple. They were friends as kids, but as soon as she could, Scarlett left their hometown to become a major star in Nashville. She has been on tour and has travelled all over the world performing for her fans. One day she gets a call that her father is not doing well and she leaves Nashville to go back to her hometown to help take care of her father. She has not been back home in a very long time, and she’s not sure how long she’s going to stay. There are so many things she has missed while she was gone, and she has to mend a lot of fences. Scarlett had to try to repair her friendship with Tucker, because her leaving left them both lost and alone. They learned to trust one another, and renew their friendship. This story had me going through every emotion, and I couldn’t stop reading. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend it!
This is written by 2 authors but it’s so seamless that you’d think it was only 1 author. The dual points of view are both sad and entertaining! It’s a second chance story, but yet it’s not. This story had me sympathizing with both Scarlett and Tucker and rolling my eyes at young Chloe! A lot of stubbornness and healing involved. Great story that will keep you wondering how it can end well for all the characters! Loved it!
When i read this blurb for the first time i knew i had to read this book. The blurb completely sold me but the actual book? Absolute perfection.
Scarlett and Tucker are amazing together, they have their ups and downs but who doesn’t?
I loved the small town atmosphere you got from this book too, you have the close nit bit friends and family and the small town gossip but it feels great.
12 years have gone by and you see the changes and growth in everyone but can you over come the girl who turned into a huge celebrity and left you behind?
Seriously Tucker was swoon worthy! From the first page you see him my heart beat faster for him. And Scarlett! She was amazing! She seemed pretty stubborn at first but when life throws a spanner in the works in a life you thought was great you start rethinking things.
This duo of authors complimented eachother so well! I look forward to seeing what else they come up with!
Brilliant !!
I really enjoyed this book. I knew I would whatever Kristen Proby writes I luv. But I haven’t read anything by K.L. Grayson but after this book I will have to look up her books. The story was really good I’m a sucker for this type of romance. I liked that the characters weren’t together together before but we’re best friend that were close. There history wasn’t alway smooth but they still luvd each other. I really liked watching there relationship grow even stronger than it was before. Things were a lot different now both Tucker and Scarlett lives were very different. So it wasn’t goin to be easy for them. But when there attraction was that strong they had to try and make it work.
The characters in this book were really good I luvd Scarlett and Tucker but the secondary characters were just as good. Chloe Tickets daughter is so sassy for her age I luvd her. Having girls her age myself I felt for Tucker but what a dad he is and Scarlett fit so well into there lil family it was so cute. I also really liked Rick Scarlett’s dad the lil match maker he was so funny even no his best and he was still trying to get Scarlett and Tucker together.
I would highly recommend this book everything was so good about it Rockstar and Friends to lovers is my favourite. The story was really good it flowed really well and I luvd the writing. I really hope these authors write more books together again.
Scarlett Kincaid and Tucker Andrews grew up together then she flew the coop, or the town, to become a famous country singer. Tucker stayed and became a local policeman who resented the fact that she threw away their friendship.
I really liked these characters, well not Lexi so much, but Scarlett and Tucker especially. Both lead characters are friendly and honest, I was sorry for Tucker and could totally understand how hurt he would have felt after Scarlett didn’t reach out even once. The fact that she didn’t still baffles me, yes she was young and yes she was focused on working hard to make her name but as a character he was more forgiving than most. Rick was a card, someone who added a bit of light relief in certain situations, as did Scooter and Dean.
Already Gone is a fast paced book that is very easy to read. It has a solid storyline and although slightly predictable it’s still very enjoyable and such an entertaining light read. I thoroughly recommend this story to everyone who wants to escape into a sweet romance.
