New Hope, South Carolina is my home. It’s where I grew up, got into trouble, and fell in love for the first time. Scarlett Kincaid was more than the girl next door, she was my best friend, until she decided that small town life wasn’t for her. One minute she was here, and the next she was gone. The girl I used to fish with down at the creek is now the biggest name in country music. She headlines … headlines world tours, has won four Grammy’s, and I haven’t seen her since. Until today when she sped through town in her fancy car. One look at her big brown eyes was all it took to stir up a whole slew of emotions. Emotions I’d long ago buried and sure as hell don’t have time for. It’s the aftermath that’s hard¿There are two things in my life that matter. My music, and my dad. Twelve years ago, I packed a bag and chased my dream. Leaving New Hope and escaping the gossip mill was the easiest decision I ever made. I never planned to return, but my father needs me, and he always comes first. So, I did what I had to do. I cut my tour short and came home, despite having a sister who hates me, and a community that doesn’t trust me. And then there’s Tucker Andrews. When he propped an arm on the roof of my car, pulled down his sunglasses and flashed his police badge, I nearly swallowed my tongue. Gone is the lanky boy who used to throw rocks at me and pull my pigtails. Tucker is now a six-foot package of brawny, sexy man wrapped in more muscle than I have hit singles. Did I mention he’s a cop and a single dad?My goal was to help Dad, and get back to my life. But what am I supposed to do when the life that used to strangle me suddenly fits like a glove, and makes me dream of things I never thought I’d have?

I was incredibly eager to read Already Gone. I’m always fascinated when authors collaborate, and Kristen Proby is one of my favourite authors. Already Gone is a small town, friends to lovers romance featuring a Rockstar and a sexy single father.
Scarlett Kincaid is a country music superstar who left town, and never looked back, hurting those closest to her in the process. Tucker Andrews is a single father to a precocious young teen, and police officer in the town of New Hope. He’s sweet, kind, and thoughtful, but still an alpha and everything I look for in a book boyfriend.
Scarlett and Tucker’s story is full of miscommunications, sacrifice, friendship, family and compromise. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable sweet, sexy and humorous story with banter that is not only fun, but flirty.
I loved the secondary characters in particular, Chloe, Dean and Scooter and hope that at some point in the future we see more of them in future titles.
4.5 Stars
Y’all know single dad books are my kryptonite, seriously they make me weak in the knees. So it was no surprise right from the get-go Already Gone was right up my alley.
It’s been twelve years since Scarlett’s been home after making a name for herself and becoming a famous country singer. But when she receives a phone call from her sister, it has Scarlett dropping everything and returning back to the place that she couldn’t get out of fast enough. And although her welcome home isn’t quite what she thought it would be, it doesn’t take long to reconnect and fit right in, especially with her one true friend, Tucker.
It’s been years since Tucker’s seen Scarlett, and he isn’t all that happy about her return to New Hope. He’s still holding onto anger and is bitter about her leaving and that she never reached out. More so though, he’s hurt because he thought they were friends. Another thing is is that Tucker always felt more for Scarlett, but she never knew that. But now, they’re getting to know each other as adults and forming an even better friendship which ultimately leads to something more.
It was no denying the chemistry between Scarlett and Tucker. Their undeniable attraction was evident from the start. There were things they had to work through and a few bumps along the way, but it only made their relationship stronger. And being together ultimately came down to compromise.
Already Gone gave me so many feels. I absolutely loved everything about this book. The characters were so down to earth and relatable. It was perfectly paced with no unnecessary drama. I hope there’s more to come from this writing duo because I want more!
I adored this book! I’m obsessed with single parents and this one did not disappoint! I loved how their relationship grew and they moved from the past!.
These authors have left me breathless. Their story is emotional, oh so steamy; and out of this world amazing. Omg. I loved these characters so much. I felt so emotionally connected. I got quite emotional at times due to circumstances and decisions. The way they weaved the past and present together was epic. It is a sign that these amazing authors have written and have become writers that people love.
This is a must read by these authors. They have created a story that will leave you begging for more. It is sweet, emotional, steamy and everything in between. A must read for 2019!!!
Scarlett and Tucker have quite the past. They meet after 12 years and the sparks fly, as do the words and harshness. You will see their relationship unfold before your eyes and it has its ups and downs, but proves love can survive anything and any circumstance.
Already Gone is a sweet, second chance romance between a country music star, Scarlett, and her old best friend, now local sheriff and single dad, Tucker. They were friends for most of their life, but she was the popular girl and he was the nerd, so they kept their friendship secret at school. She left as soon as she turned 18 to become a famous musician and returns home 12 years later, after her father falls ill. They kind of start out as enemies, but quickly turn into something more. I personally struggled with how fast their relationship moved. I just wanted a little bit more banter. While Tucker was a good character, there were several aspects of Scarlett’s personality that I did not like at all. But, I did really appreciate her relationship with Tucker’s daughter, Chloe. Overall, it was a sweet, entertaining read and I think anyone who loves a celebrity and/or a single dad romance will enjoy this one.
* I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
There are few things I love more than a good second chance romance. When it’s a second chance written by one of my favorite authors? Well that’s like a winning lottery ticket or given that this one is co-written by Kristen Proby, being gifted a brand new handbag!! Already Gone was everything I love about a good romance. It had solid characters I could relate to, humor, a character coming home after too long away, a redemption element, and it had so much heart, heat and passion!
Scarlet and Tucker were such a good fit. I loved that their first encounter displayed Tucker’s gruff side and Scarlet being dumbfounded that he wasn’t excited to see her. Them finding their way was everything I hoped it to be and more. I thought Kristen and K.L. Grayson did a fantastic job weaving this story into something seamless. The characters and details, the banter and emotions. It’s all there. From Scarlet’s dad to Dean, Scooter and Chloe they created a story that was a total delight!! I hope we get more from this duo!
I received an ARC for an honest opinion. Proby and Grayson wrote a feel good, easy read. While reading you feel like you grew up with the characters in the small town. Scarlett and Tucker grew up together until Scarlett left, to pursue her singing dreams. Life brings Scarlett back to town and I believe fate has plans for them. Scarlett and Tucker are magical together. I truly enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others.
I was scared when I started this one. I wasn’t sure I would like Scarlet. She seemed a little abrasive. You made me love her. The relationship with Tucker made her into such a better person. I adored Tucker and Chloe. I did want to slap both of them towards the end, but they pulled it through. Great story of friendship evolving into love.
I never read the blurb for this book, because anything Kristen Proby has her hand in I want to read. It was a unique twist on friends to lovers. Tucker was great, and Chloe stole the show!
Scarlett has returned home to care for her father who recently had a stroke. Having a nonexistent relationship with her sister, she’s not happy about being back & can’t wait to get back home to Nashville. She expected hostility & unpleasantries from her sister but is a bit shocked & surprised to receive it from her childhood friend Tucker. All the more reason for her to get back to her life away from this town.
Tucker can’t believe Scarlett is back. She left everyone as soon as she could & hasn’t looked back. Not wanting to reminisce about old times he has no problem giving her the cold shoulder. But he soon realizes that his hidden feelings for her haven’t gone away. As they start spending time together, they both confront the past & try to figure out what the future holds for them. Can Scarlett leave her famous & glamorous life behind, or will Tucker let her walk away a second time?
Is it possible for these amazing authors to write more books together? Having read & enjoyed their solo books, they have managed to blend their creative writing styles together to bring to life a country music star living her dream & a single dad who can’t imagine a life living anywhere else with his daughter. In the end love conquers all & they managed to break through the many obstacles in their way. This was a great read & I hope to read more books from this dynamic duo!
I am a sucker for great collabs, and Already Gone is one heck of a collaboration. It takes amazing writing capabilities for two authors to mash well together, and do it well, but these authors made it happen. Kristen Proby and K.L. Grayson wrote an amazing second chance romance that will steal your heart. Scarlett and Tucker’s story flowed wonderfully, and at a pace that kept your attention. The story line was light and had me laughing a few times. The chemistry between Scarlett and Tucker was profound, rather it be their friendship or more. The side characters are also a major pro in this book. I truly enjoyed each and everyone. Overall, this was a wonderful read.
Scarlett is America’s biggest country star. She loves everything about being famous, including how it helped her find her identity, but the one thing she loves more is her family. She is more than generous and pretty face. She is personable and real.
Tucker grew out of his nerdy stage and is now a cop. He spends his spare time helping people, and with his family. His daughter always being top priority. He’s not one to hold on to grudges, and apologizes when he is wrong.
When life brings country star Scarlett Kincaid back into her home town, things don’t go the way she expected. Will her country star status pull her from the people that matter the most?
*I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK
OH my heart and soul this book!!! Two of my favorite author teamed up and wrote this beautiful second chance love story. Literally was such a joyous read that I read it in one sitting. The characters are easy to fall in love with and you rooted for the HEA…
Scarlett was back in her small hometown to assist in her father’s healing, she happens to be staying right next door to the one that she missed the most, her best friend. Tucker has changed in 13 years – he is the local cop and a single dad, now he sees “the one that got away” next door. These two worked so hard to get their beautiful story and I just could sit and read them over and over.
She has nothing to prove when it comes to me- because I have no control when it comes to her

Already Gone was an enjoyable friends to lovers, small town romance. It was sweet, sexy and had just the right amount of drama thrown in to give it a little edge. I really liked Tucker and Scarlett and felt that they had great chemistry. The story was a wee bit predictable but that didn’t bother me. I devoured this book and have to say it was a real fun read that left be warm and squishy.
I love small town romances and this was one makes a perfect summer read and a book that I would be happy to recommend.
I was provided with a copy of this book from the Publisher; there was no inducement or obligation and I opted to leave a review.
Reading Already Gone by Kristen Proby and KL Grayson was like listening to my new favorite song. Their voices blended together so beautifully it wasn’t a duet, but a melody sang by one perfect voice chapter after chapter.
Scarlett and Tucker, two childhood friends who felt so much more, spend most of the book trying to find just the right pitch in their relationship to do just that. She’s the girl who left their small town for stardom and never looked back. He’s the boy who stayed behind and dug roots that shouldn’t be removed. But the one thing that can’t be denied is the undeniable chemistry between them that time can’t erase. The question is whether or not time has taught them their song can be beautiful even if it’s not perfect?
Readers of both Kristen Proby and KL Grayson should already have this ready to read. And if you’re new to them, it’s a great introduction to the feisty heroines and strong heroes both women are known for writing.
I have seriously been waiting for this day for what seems like forever! Two of my all time favorite authors co-wrote a book and it is unbelievable. I finished this one in less than 24 hours.
The writing was so good. Honestly flowed so well. You wouldn’t know it was composed by two different authors. They took you right there to New Hope South Carolina and everywhere in between.
Everything about this book from the details in the different POV from both Scarlett and Tucker to the cover…. simple perfection. Childhood best friends reconnecting after over a decade of silence… this is seriously so swoon worthy!
If I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would. It deserves it.
If you are looking for that beautiful small town romance, with a single dad…. this is your book. The perfect love story with the best Happily Ever After!
Adorable. Passionate. Heartwarming . Heartbreaking. Sweet. Sexy. A combination of every good thing imaginable in a good romance. And that sums up my feelings about Already Gone by K.L.Grayson and Kristen Proby.
Scarlett is living her dreams as world famous singer. And she is so far away from the small home town that never understood her. But when she has to go back there to take care of her sick father, she finds out reasons to stay there. Her best friend and now town’s respected cop Tucker. But Tucker is angry and resentful because she left him without ever looking back. They slowly start finding their way to each other’s heart but will Scarlett’s superstar life destroy everything?
I liked both Scarlett and Tucker. But my favourite is Tucker’s girl Chloe! She is so sweet and smart and mature beyond her age! She played a big part in bringing these love birds together. Tucker is a great guy. And yes he misunderstood Scarlett way too many times but that is coming from his abandonment issues and true love. Scarlett is an amazing girl. She may be a celebrity but she treats everyone with open heart and arms. Her heart is soft, compassionate and loving. The chemistry was super hot and swoonworthy! The second chance, friends to lovers romance was beautifully written. The road was a bit rocky. But the tough times made the love even more delicious and strong.
Already Gone by Kristen Proby and K.L.Grayson is a beautifully written contemporary romance. The love and passion was brilliantly expressed by the captivating writing in an alluring story line.
Received ARC for Honest review
Already Gone by Kristen Proby and KL Grayson
This writing duo’s new book, Already Gone, was a wonderful collaboration of talent that showcased each author’s strengths and produced an amazing love story.
Scarlett Kincaid, Nashville’s Mega Country Music Star, travels back home to her hometown of New Hope, SC to help a family sick member, but ends up running into childhood best friend that she left behind when she left home over 10 yrs ago to start her career.
Tucker Anderson, New Hope Police Office and childhood best friend, has had a long time crush on Scarlett. Tucker is coming to terms with Scarlett returning home, but also with the feelings he’s had for her since 3rd grade.
Let me just say, this is one of the best books I’ve read in 2019! Filled with everything you would want in a romance novel . . . a great love story, family (both love and conflict) and lots of humor (enter Scooter ). I loved that the book was written as a stand alone, but would love to see more from this writing duo in the future. I’m not sure I have ever laughed so hard while reading a romance novel (Scooter). This book was excellent and I know it will be one I revisit in the future.
Already Gone is a standalone, small town, second chance romance by Kristen Proby and K. L. Grayson. Now, I will confess that while I’m a huge fan of Kristen Proby, I don’t think I’ve ever read anything by K. L. Grayson. After reading this book, however, that will no longer be the case! I honestly couldn’t tell which author wrote which part in most places. So needless to say, the story flowed exceptionally well.
When megastar Scarlett comes home to take care of her father as he recovers from a stroke, Tucker wants to hate her for breaking his heart long ago. But there’s a thin line between love and hate, and when two kids have finally grown into adults, will they be able to set aside and forgive the past hurts or will life in all its complications tear them apart for good?
This book. It literally had me torn pretty much the entire way through it. Of course, I wanted the HEA for Scarlett and Tucker, but all the obstacles in their lives constantly had them going back and forth. So it was a break my heart, put it back together, only to break it again cycle until the very end. Was it worth it? Of course! Did I cry and scream at both these characters several times as I read the book? Of course! Through it all, I could absolutely see each character’s side and wonder how a compromise was even possible. Thankfully, it was, but I’ll let you find those details out for yourself.
NICUnurse’s Rating: SUCH ANGST!! And not just the romantic kind. There was family drama/angst galore in this story, as well. So if angst is not your thing, you might want to pass this one by. But if you love a good angsty story (with a HEA!!), this will be one you definitely want to read and read soon! With great writing from both authors, great world-building from both authors, and back and forth between the characters that left me guessing until The End, I give Already Gone by Kristen Proby and K. L. Grayson 4.75 stars!
Sometimes life has other plans for us and we just need to sit back and enjoy the ride. This was such a great second chance love story. I enjoyed how it showed just enough of the past to help you understand where everyone was coming from. The characters were so dimensional yet easy to connect with. I loved how well the writing flowed you can’t tell which author wrote which section. This is the perfect weekend read I suggest picking up a copy. There is just the right amount of angst to keep you on your toes.
I have Already Gone by Kristen Proby and K.L. Grayson 4 stars. This is a standalone, single dad, small town, friends to lover story.
Scarlett Kincaid was a famous singer who hadn’t been back to her hometown in many years. When she gets a call from her family and has to return, she does not realize how much that will change her life.
Tucker Andrews was best friends with Scarlett when they were growing up. Even though she left many years ago he has not been able to get her off his mind.
I really enjoyed the storyline, the whole single dad, small town romance. I love small towns. The characters were great Scarlett and Tucker and also Chloe, Dean, Rick and Scooter. This story had some laughs and definitely had some heat in the romance department, the attraction between Scarlett and Tucker is hot and undeniable. I am glad I read this book and would definitely eat happy to see more of these characters. Overall it was a great read I would recommend!!
