Previously published in the anthology Hunger, the paranormal queen of steam and sass pulls out all the stops in The Alpha’s Mate, a sexy, funny short story from New York Times bestselling author Eve Langlais. Villains aren’t supposed to rescue damsels, and pack alphas are known to have complete control of their wolf. But when Fabian saves a certain lady from drowning, everything he knows gets … drowning, everything he knows gets tossed away and only one thing becomes clear: she’s his mate–and someone wants to kill her. Protecting her, though, is only part of his problem. He also has to convince her she belongs to him. In her words, “Hell no.”
When she flees, little does she realize this wolf loves to chase. And when he catches the woman he wants? She’ll become the Alpha’s Mate.

Alpha’s Mate is a delightful quick read that will make you smile. The characters are strong, captivating and easily draw you in with a heated romance and dangerous thrills that will leave you breathless. The story is fast paced and starts off with some edge of your seat suspense that quickly grabs your attention and refuses to let go. Readers are kept guessing in regards to the danger that our heroine finds herself in and since the danger she is in is complicated by something else (sorry no spoilers), it really keeps the anticipation and suspense building. That something else also makes it a bit difficult for Fabian to woo his prickly mate and the ending is quite a dramatic surprise.
Eve Langlais always writes vivid stories that easily draw readers in and this is one no exception as I was completely captivated by the characters so of course I can’t wait until her next book.
This is book three in the “Fabian Garoux” series. I felt this book could easily be read as a standalone. I consider this book to be a quick paranormal read with some heat. I have read many books by this author, I felt she gave us solid characters and she never fells to deliver sassy sexy heroines and stubborn hot alpha males for her readers enjoyment. I found this book to be a fun read, with the right amount of humor and steamy parts mixed in with it. I also loved the twist to the story line the author gave us, but you’ll to read it for yourself to see what I mean. If you enjoy paranormal romance with sassy heroines and hot alpha males than I think you’ll love this.

Vivienne wakes up in a strange place with no memory of her former life.
She does not even remember her own name.
Fabian rescued Vivienne, but now, he does not know what to do with her.
Now the question remains:
Will Vivienne remember who she is and why people are trying to kill her?
Fabian also has a dilemman.
Will he claim Vivienne as his mate or not ?
I loved the storytelling + the characters
The storytelling + the character’s build were awesome!
When Fabian the leader of his pack sees some thugs throw a woman tied up in the water he jumps in to save her and gets shot at. He does manage to save her but she doesn’t know who she is but he knows she’s his mate and someone wants her dead. Vixen as he calls her is not taking this lying down and she may have a memory lapse but she is perfect for the leader of the pack if she can only stay alive. Funny story and the author describes it so well you can’t help but laugh even when she is in danger.

My Thoughts – 4 out of 5 Unicorns – I really liked it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I haven’t bought this one yet, but I did buy the first two in the series, so I could read those.
The cover is what attracted me to want to read the book!
Well I know I own quite a few of Eve’s books (21 to be exact in ebooks and probably some paperbacks too), but this is my first review of one of her books. There is never enough time to read everything I want or even own.
This is the 3rd book in this series, and you can read them out of order because I did. It is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content. It is about 80 pages long and a quick read.
This book was mysterious and action-packed because the leading lady has no idea who she is, so Fabian calls her Vixen. Someone wants to kill her, and Fabian will not allow it. They have a mystery to solve about who she is and bad guys to lure out. This was a great read, and I didn’t see some of the curve balls that were thrown. This made it more for me because I love when an author can surprise me. I don’t want to give anything away because I don’t want to spoil your adventure.
I recommend to shifter fans who want an action packed read especially if you like Eve’s work! I’m already reading the next story that comes right after this one!
A quick steamy paranormal read.
Vivienne doesn’t remember who she is or why dangerous men are trying to kill her. All she knows is that she can trust Fabian Garoux, the sexy alpha who saved her.
This is a fun read with a little bit of humor mixed into it. An enjoyable fast story that doesn’t disappoint.
Remember me
From kidnapping to memory loss, the author keeps us hoping throughout the entirety of this book. I love the characters, especially the butler what I wouldn’t do for one of those, and the way both of them are strong and take charge. I started reading the series from this book and enjoyed every moment of it, but I can’t wait to go back and read the rest of the books before the next book is available.
Fabian is never going to settle down or allow a woman to collar him. As the alpha wolf of his pack he’s got a reputation to uphold and it’s a lot of work being the bad guy. When he rescues Vixen from the river after she was tied up and tossed in to drown, he realizes pretty quickly that she’s his mate.
This is a fast, fun, humor filled read that has a little meat on its bones. Not my favorite by this author but still highly enjoyable.
