Alpha’s Deception: Revenge of the Bears

This is another super read and a great addition to the series it just keeps getting better and better. It is another action-packed read with plenty of drama and some great characters. If you have read and enjoyed the previous books in the series then you are not going to want to miss this one.

I understand Sierra’s reluctance in letting Tobias know about his daughter. But if her life was in danger, she should have sought out more opinions on figuring out how to cure their daughter. She should have given Tobias a chance to explain instead of running away especially when they shared a daughter.

The character dynamic is fun, hot, witty and straight up amazing. I loved the characters and their chemistry was off the charts. I could understand both character pov and am happy that they have a great ending.

A one night stand between Tobias, a bear shifter, and Sierra, a witch, leads to heartbreak and a lot more. Helios is still in the picture after taking the “cure” for his poisoning although he is different, not quite right in the head. After their one night together and promises Toby makes to Sierra, her world changes when he leaves and never returns. He lost his chance and she refuses to consider giving him another. However, he has something she needs. It is a matter of life and death and Helios wants it too. I thought she pushed it a bit far, risking death before finally asking for help. If not for her best friend, she could have lost it all. The deception and anger between the two kept me engaged and rooting for them. When you get down to it, they were perfect for each other. This was a great read the characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly. Will her secret destroy her or save her from the big bad alpha.

This is the fourth story in this series, Revenge of the Bears. You could read this as a stand-alone, but you would understand the base story so much better if you read it from the beginning with Bear’s Desire. If you have never read a story by Juniper Hart, do yourself a favor and read one! She writes stories that suck you in with fantastic world building and with characters that you could easily visualize. She takes you on the ride so you can actually feel the emotions and feelings that the characters are going through in each part of the stories. Another thing is that she is telling a great story which just so happens to go along with the main thread through this whole series.

A thousand years ago, when all the Enchantment, beings that weren’t human, shifters, fae, witches, demons, etc., were around and some of them, the demons, wanted to rule the world by killing everybody except themselves. There was Helios and his beloved wife, Carina. They have been together for over two thousand years and were plotting ways to get rid of humans first. The bear shifters found a very rare mineral that when used with other metals to make a sword, could kill a demon. That was the only way to kill a demon. Alaric Aldwin killed Carina and wounded Helios in the shoulder. Helios ran before he could finish him off and has been fighting the poisoning effect on him for a thousand years. He has tried to get a witch descendant of Aldwin’s to do a spell to combat the poison, he tried to find an antidote to the poisoning, and now he is cured of the poison, he needs to get his army set up to take over the world. But before that, he needs money. He used to be in charge of the underworld mob, but not any more. He will go after the male who has taken over as head mobster.

Sierra is a witch who is out at a bar with her girlfriend Simone. She doesn’t have the money for the drinks at this Enchanted bar, $15 for a beer? When she is on her second drink, she reaches over and grabs her glass when a man grabs her wrist and claims that she has grabbed his drink, not hers. There is an instant attraction and within minutes they go back to her place. After wrestling in the sheets all night, his phone rings and he has to leave. He tells her he will be right back. He doesn’t come back. Not in an hour, a few hours, a few days or even weeks. She ends up moving and carries on with her career choice of being a thief. Three years later, she has a daughter who is very ill. Sierra’s best customer has had her stealing all sorts of magical articles and now wants her to get the most prized magical tome of all time. She is told that if she steals it, there is a spell in it that will save her daughter’s life. There are a couple kickers to this job. If she gets caught, she will be killed. The other is the fact that the owner is a multi-billionaire Alpha bear shifter who is the head of the underground mob, and the baby daddy.

Tobias met a woman at a bar and he was instantly attracted to her unlike he has ever been with another woman. After a wonderful night with her, he knew she was his mate, but when he gets a call that his brother murdered someone and needed his help, he had to go. He told her that he would be back. He didn’t know that he would be banished from his pack for one year, so he couldn’t go back. He never got her last name or phone number. After years of thinking of her and sending investigators to find her, he feels he will never find her again. He has had a recent instance where he was drawn to where she was just moments ago, but he still didn’t find her. When he was having a charity fundraiser for the children’s hospital at his home, he felt her around again. This time he sees her. They go into his private library to speak and before they get to speak much, he is called away about something to do with business. While he was gone, the alarms go off because someone stole a priceless tome. She was left in that room and left via the window. They had confirmed via face recognition software that she is the thief that has been stealing magical items, and here she is stealing again. They know who her main customer is and the connections that person has to Helios. They go and pick up her customer, and question her. They find out her address and about Sierra’s daughter who is dying because she is a hybrid, part bear shifter – part witch, which is deadly. While looking for Sierra, he comes across Helios.

This doesn’t read like it is the final story in this series. It still has the bad guy running around causing mischief.

Enjoyed this book immensely. The storyline was great and the characters are basically criminals but you still love them and want them to have a happily ever after. This is a series of books and each new book seems to get better then the last. Highly recommended!

Book 4 of the Enchanted’s fight against the demon Helios. Like the other books in the series, this book can be read as a stand-alone, but it is deeper as part of the series. Helios is reaching out to Toby, a bear shifter mob boss to get money to finance his revenge. Toby is not really interested. He just found his long-lost love and tries to win her back.
The story has quite a few unexpected twists and sometimes it is difficult to see, who is on the side of good and who is not.
Like the other books it is well-written and quite entertaining.

When Sierra and Toby meet, they have an instant connection. However, Toby inexplicably disappears from her life. Circumstances cause them to meet again, but the connection they had is hampered by secrets. The urgency behind Sierra’s actions brings her into Helios’ orbit and leads to a confrontation between Toby and that fiend. Alpha’s Deception is an exciting addition to the Revenge of the Bears series that I enjoyed.

This is the fourth book min this wonderful series and while each book can be read as a stand alone there is an underlying story that definitely make reading the series in order the best option.
