Since Mark left the agency, he’s spent years nursing an unrequited crush on a former co-worker. He’s left with the realization he’s facing middle-age alone. Except here’s this shy, huge man from the agency waiting to talk to him in J.T.’s Bar.
The last thing they need to hear is someone is killing Mark’s former team. Against his wishes, the agency insists Mark goes into hiding and Walker is assigned the task of getting him to a safe house. Can a rookie operative like Walker protect Mark long enough to get him to safety—and eventually into his arms?
If you like action and adventure gay romance with shy hot guys and loving that can heal all broken hearts, you’ll love Alpha Protect.

4.5 stars. A good start with the book. This is better to be read in order to appreciate the storylines.
Poor Walker has a crush on Mark but he had to dodge around Si who was acting like his guard dog. Walker has only a weekend before goes back into work for his first mission assignment. But things get kaboshed when threats to Mark are close. A great book for the series which includes both POVs and hot sexy scenes. A gorgeous HEA ending too.
• love at first sight
• agency men and bad guys.
• V-card holder
• cat and mouse dramas and more.
Walker 30 yrs is back in town with a mission and heads for the bar. The reception he gets at TJs was hospitable at most.
Mark c40 yrs had been injured on past missions and his leg never recovered. Now he was a therapist.
Walker belongs to a covert ops and after his training, he goes to see the man he can’t get out of his mind Mark. Mark used to belong to the same covert op. When Mark meets Walker there’s some thing about him that he knows he wants to get to know him better. Someone is killing Mark’s old team and Walker’s team is assigned to protect Mark. I really enjoyed this book.
The latest in the J.T’s Bar series is a worthy addition to the set. Since I have read all of the previous books in the series, my experience might be different than an individual reading it as a standalone book. My impression is the book would be an enjoyable read in both situations because the author provides the necessary limited basic information about the characters actions in the previous books in the series. But there was some much more background from reading the series just as you understand an individual and their friends you have known for years better than some one you have known for a short time.
This book relates more to the first and fourth book in the series.
The basic plot line is a man decides to change his career choice and try to build a relationship with a man he has seen only once previously. Other characters have a different idea.
I enjoyed the book and hope you do also. It is an easy read.

I have GOT to read the other stories! These men sound absolutely delightful! Walker travels across the country hoping to meet and talk to a man he met on his one previous visit. He had to go through Si, ex-agency, bar owner and Mark’s best friend. Walker just had the weekend before going on his first mission. Mark, busted out his knee and retrained to a physical therapist. The first meeting was Harlequin Romance worthy. Their courtship was Silhouette Desire worthy. Walker being a first timer, makes Mark’s instructions easy. Will Walker continut to follow Mark’s lead? Will Walker have an opportunity to expand his skill set? Will Mark open his heart? Great story. Ms Brown has created excellent characters. I am going to rush to read the previous stories. Well done! I liked this book. I liked both the story plot and how the characters were developed. I loved the chemistry between Mark and Walker. The romance between them happens really fast. I didn’t really think the scene where they woke up the next morning to the sheriff being in the room wanting to arrest Walker was believable. They wouldn’t have used the spare key and they wouldn’t have gone to arrest him without reviewing the CCTV tape. Other than that one scene that was questionable, I enjoyed the story. It was action-packed but it did seem to rely a bit on you having read the previous books to know who the other people are and their backstories. Since I haven’t read the other stories, I did feel a little bit lost at times. Which is probably why it only got a like instead of a love for me. I did like it enough to want to read the other books in the story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book provided by Booksprout.
Walker heads int the small backwoods town to meet with Mark.
Heading into J.T’s Bar to meet the man he had seen briefly once before but who had caught Walker’s attention. He finds the bartender who is ex agency confrontational as he awaits for Mark to arrive. As ex agency himself Mark realizes that there is more than a friendly visit involved. Walker is happy to meet Mark again but nervous as he knows he the package that he will be protecting too. The two talk and after finishing the food at the bar they head for Mark’s home where they get closer but then heads out to try and get Mark to a sake place until those looking to kill him are found.

I absolutely loved Walker and Mark’s story. These two were the absolute sweetest and so loving to one another. I do have to laugh at Walker regarding his name. When he police called him by it, I can understand why he keeps it close to his vest!
The best part for me was Walker’s admission that he’d never been with a man and Mark went out of his way to make the experience absolutely perfect for him. Walker also liked when Mark took complete control. His trip to take a chance on a man who could have turned him down flat was well worth it.
It was also great to see characters from previous books in the series. These are supposed to stand alone but the reader may be better served to read them in order or at some point. Things will start to click in place.
I can’t wait for the series continuation.

Walker and Mark were great characters and their adventure had me hook from page one. Another wonderful addition to this highly engaging world.

Walker’s team is not very popular in JT’s Bar after the way they treated Jake, but Walker still found the courage to fly more than a 1000 miles to find a man in JT’s bar he has never spoken to before. Keywords: Actionn, chases, suspense, fun, betrayal, romance and some steaming hot guys. Also, Walker’s team was so much fun, I loved their James Bond worthy code words. I would love to read more about these guys and luckily the next story (about Doyle) is already available for pre-order,
Why didn’t I run across this author and series earlier? I read a blurb about this book and asked for a free copy. The author gave it to me and I love this story but as I have said I wish I had started this series from the beginning. I enjoyed the story so much I had to write a review. I’m going to check on the previous books now.
This story starts as an attraction but quickly moves into part mystery. Mark and Walker only get a chance to really meet and then are thrown into trying to keep Mark alive. This story has plenty of heat. Since Walker is somewhat of a virgin the romance kept me fixated. The mystery side also held my attention since it was pretty fast paced. I love these characters. They are well developed. I enjoyed the secondary characters, some more than others…especially Walker’s family and Mark’s friend Si. I do think it would benefit the reader to have followed the stories previous in this series but the author provided plenty of information on previous characters that I had no trouble seeing who fit where.
Walker was in a bar and saw Mark and wanted him so months later before his mission he had leave. He went back to the bar to talk to him plus more. But then a hit was put out on Mark who used to be an agent, so Walker and his team had to keep him alive. They did but they were going against some of the older agency guys. His family also found out that he was gay, during one of the cars swamp not good! But they finally caught the guys that put out the hit, Walker got out and moved in with Mark. Happy ending for them!
What an amazing book from our JT’s Bar series. Mark and Walker are wonderful together. We have some old “friends” putting their two cents in and making our couple work together to overcome difference of opinions.
It is best to read in order.
I did receive an ARC for a review.
This was told only from Walker’s POV and I simply adored him. For a tough, big, trained member of the Agency, he was actually shy, full of insecurities and self-doubt. But, despite fear of reprisals and rejection, this sweet guy traveled two thousand miles to J.T.’s bar because he wanted to talk to Mark. After only seeing him once, months back, and for just a couple of minutes. How cute is that?
Walker’s daring move actually got Mark’s attention and an invitation to his house. And then to his bed. I’d thought they’d do the hanky-panky, realize they have a great connection and maybe try for a long distance relationship. I thought wrong. These two didn’t even get to enjoy a whole weekend together when they were informed that someone was planning to kill Mark. All of a sudden I found myself in a fast paced action movie, with Mark and Walker racing towards safe houses that weren’t safe and cutting off all contacts because they couldn’t trust anyone. The time on the run gave Mark and Walker the opportunity to talk and to know each other. I guess, in a way, the fear for their lives also heightened their need for one another and deepened their bond. I count that as bonus lol.
The run for their lives was awesome and thrilling, up until the surprising reveal of their enemies. Ad the romance, a dash of kinky hotness and just the right amount of sweetness, I had myself some really interesting hours of reading. Loved it!
