New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh returns to her breathtaking Psy-Changeling Trinity series with a mating that shouldn’t exist… nightmare, a powder keg just waiting for a match.

Alpha Night is the newest addition to the amazing Psy-Changeling series from Nalini Singh. My absolute favorite pairing remains when the couple has on Psy and one Changeling. Add in the fact we had a female Alpha Changeling and a Psy Arrow, and Alpha Night was complete catnip for me!
Selenka Durev is the wolf Alpha of the BlackEdge pack. Ethan Night is an Arrow, who is damaged so he doesn’t really feel like a true Arrow. When they meet at a symposium in Selenka’s city, her wolf recognizes Ethan as her mate, and they have mating at first sight. I absolutely loved the journey Selenka and Ethan took in Alpha Night. Selenka and her wolf sense something is different about Ethan. I loved how quickly Selenka and Ethan accepted one another as mates, even as they each had much to learn about and from one another. Their courtship to HEA gave me all the happy feels.
With each new book in the series, I feel like we learn a bit more about how the Architect, Consortium, and the rapidly destabilization of the PsyNet are all intertwined. I also felt like we learned the Architect was a woman in the book..if it had been revealed before, I had missed it.
Alpha Night is another winner from Nalini Singh! The romance was filled with emotions and beauty, and there was just enough action to keep readers on the edge of their seats

This is my first experience with this Psy-Changeling Trinity series and l had no problem jumping straight in.
The E’s after a lifetime of Silence are having for the first time to deal with Emotions. To Changeling’s emotion is everything it is the beating heart of their packs.
Ethan is an Arrow kept a prisoner since 6 years old. He has no feelings of friendship or trust to his team until his bond clicks into place with Selenka Alpha Wolf of the BlackEdge pack in Russia. Can Ethan so traumatised by his experiences connect with Selenka and through her begin to live again.
Ethan believes his shields so long held are failing and the power been held back is uncontrollable.
This is a good book to follow our leads and see how strong they both make each other, they will be ready to take on all who live in the shadows. There are also plenty of ahh moments with the young wolf’s.
I will certainly like to read other books in the series.
I was given an Arc of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Alpha Night is the perfect example of why Nalini Singh is an auto-buy for me. Selenka is an alpha wolf who has yet to meet a partner strong enough to let her be herself and do the things she needs to be able to do as the alpha of her pack. Ethan is a Psy Arrow who believes he is damaged beyond repair. When Ethan meets Selenka color enters his world and he starts to hope. Hope is insidious. And though love doesn’t cure all it sure gives you something to fight for. Ethan about broke my heart. These two are the perfect foils for each other and this story left me with a sigh on my lips and a smile in my heart.
The best book in the Trinity series so far, though I’m fairly sure I’ve said the same about every new book. Nalini Singh can write such unabashedly emotional characters that the reader can’t help but being swept in with them. Who doesn’t like an alpha with a huge heart or could resist a troubled Arrow? And the mating at first sight worked perfectly too. On top of that, Ms Singh can add new threats to the world, keeping it fresh and interesting. I gobbled the book down and now I have to endure the agonising wait for the next one again.
I have been reading Nalini Singh’s books for over ten years and she continues to impress me.
Alpha Night tells the story of Alpha, Wolf Selenka and Arrow, Ethan Night. I loved reading about a female Alpha and her relationship not only with Ethan, but also with her pack. I also absolutely adored Ethan and his devotion to Selenka – he was never intimidated by her strength and power; he respected and supported her in her role as Alpha.
Selenka and Ethan have to fight to secure their mating bond and the safety of the pack and it was a thoroughly enjoyable journey to read. We also catch glimpses of former favorites from this series – including my forever favorites Sascha and Lucas.
Overall, Alpha Night was another great read from Ms. Singh and I cannot wait to read more about the future of the PsyNet.
Before I read Alpha Night, I reread Wolf Rain and that was a good idea. Memory plays a role in this book and remembering her story and the effects of Scarab is important to understanding Ethan. Also, I read this book once just for my enjoyment and the second time for this review. Nalini Singh has introduced us to three new packs over the four books in this story arc. After reading Wolf Rain and returning to SnowDancer, Alpha Night and bonding with BlackEdge is a little slow at times. I think the mating at first sight helps this. Ethan is easily accepted in the pack because of his bond with Selenka. In many ways, I see parallels between Alpha Night and Silver Silence. Ethan is the one suffering from the real trauma in their relationship. Like Silver, there is something in his head that has the potential for destroying him or his relationship. However, because of the quickness of the mating bond, he doesn’t have a chance to try to push Selenka away. Whatever comes, they face together, as a team, and that this clearly seen when Ethan first meets BlackEdge.
Honestly, there was no chance I wouldn’t love this book. Nalini Singh is my absolute favorite author ever and a book with an instant bond and a female alpha is 100% my catnip. I loved seeing Selenka balance her role as an alpha with that of a woman falling in love. Ethan is so broken when he meets Selenka and she and her pack bring such light and joy into his live; it is heartening to read. Once you get the cast of new wolves straight, I think there is potential for other stories there; although I hope we finish Hawke’s lieutenants first. Or perhaps go back to Valentin’s bears. It doesn’t matter, I trust Nalini Singh to continue to excel with story arc. Alpha Night is an excellent continuation to the Psy-Changeling Trinity series and I loved every minute of it!
10 STARS!
Mating at first sight? Yes please!
ALPHA NIGHT is such a beautiful and engaging story! Ms. Singh’s worldbuilding is vivid and delightful, her characters brilliantly crafted!
Having briefly heard about the BlackEdge wolf pack in previous books and more currently in SILVER SILENCE, I was SO excited to learn more about these wolves and their strong alpha! I was not disappointed!
I absolutely LOVED this book! First off, our heroine is a dominant female, an ALPHA no less! I love a strong female lead!
Selenka is holding it down for the BlackEdge wolves and their territory. She can go toe-to-toe with the deadliest Psy on the planet or a growly alpha bear and won’t ever back down! My girl Selenka is a fierce protector, has a core of steel, unquestionable and unbreakable loyalty and a heart as big as Russia. I admire her so much!
Ethan is a wild card. He’s an Arrow (member of an elite assassin squad), harbors deadly secrets, sporadic Silence and an insufferable past. But when an alpha wolf slams into him and stakes its claim, Ethan’s tenacious grip on the mating bond is a lifeline for this broken Psy.
Loved, loved, LOVED it!!! Selenka and Ethan have dynamite chemistry together! I love their love! I also love all the secondary characters. I love the complexities, diversity and intricate hierarchy of the pack structure. Everyone has a place and an importance to the pack, and every packmate is valued, even the most vulnerable. Amazing!
There is so much going on in the story! Exciting plot twists and turns and so many other secrets! This is a dangerous time in the Psy-Changeling universe, and I cannot WAIT to find out where we travel to next!
***I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book provided by the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects or influences my thoughts and feelings about the story***
An Alpha Wolf and her zaichik!
I love this series, its literally my all time favourite PNR so I’m not exactly objective but regardless of that I think Alpha Night stands really well on its own!
Ever since in Hawke’s book (kiss of snow) when he mentioned his parents mated at first sight, I’d wanted a story about that. I mean why does it happen, how does it happen because as from what we have seen, mating involves both parties willingness to fully embrace each other and be vulnerable, sometimes it takes years etc.
Selenaka Drev is the alpha of the BlackEdge wolves pack in Moscow (we’ve met her in previous books) and she’s described as ‘sexy enough to fry your brains’ and ‘she knows how to love with a ferociousness that encompasses us all’ in the Wild Woman magazine.
Ethan Night is an arrow, who isn’t entirely an arrow due to his prisoned upbringing. A Tk with a very unique ability, who has spend his life in a ‘grey fog’ disassociating from the world due to horrors inflicted on him.
Selenaka and Ethan from the moment they meet, they can’t seem to take eyes off each other, there’s just something there attraction but also something more and BOOM they are mated! This was such an interesting thing, of why it happened. I’mma leave that for you to find out.
“I’m the knight to your queen” ~Ethan Night.
I loved Selenka and Ethan together, they are very different from the other couples in the series (not that any of the couples are similar) but it was from they mated to how they come together, how their relationship developed. For two very strong, dominant people they had such softness to them as well. They were adorable. Sweet, flirty and romantic.
“You have a wolf’s heart, zaichik” ~Selenka.
This book could have entirely too serious. But there was humour and lightheartedness especially in the Selenka’s POV that made this work so well, otherwise it would have all despair. Nalini Singh did a great job, It has a really good balance of dark and lightness (i’m sure you’ll understand this reference later).
“You’re my always Ethan, and I wouldn’t have it any other way” ~Selenka Durev.
“I will fight always for you. Until my breath stops, I’ll fight” ~Ethan Night.
I do wish the book had been slightly longer so we could have spend more time with them together, learned a bit more about the pack etc but I’m just greedy!
We are making headway in the ARC of the trinity chapter of PsyChangeling things are escalating, PsyNet is barely holding on as the ruling collation, the arrows and Kaleb/Aden try to maintain the fabric of the Net that keeps the Psys alive. I’m kinda sacred of what’s gonna happen. The architect is really losing it though, they seem to think they are still sane even as their behaviour seems to say otherwise. Allure of power seems to be something that certain Psys are struggling with
We also get glimpse of other characters, couples!! Also Pax, I want his book!!!!! Anyone else wants to find out more about the soap opera Hourglass lives and Aunt Rita from the Wild Woman magazine?? Just me ?
THAT ENDING THOUGH!!! I need the next book NOOOWWW!!! Overall, Alpha Night is a fantastic addition to an extremely intricate, complex and captivating series that is also beautifully written.
~this isn’t exactly a proper, proper review but eh ! maybe I’ll update it once I reread.
*ARC
Wowowow! Breath-snatchingly action-packed both on the Psy and Changeling planes but still centered on the romance of the mated-at-first-sight pair of Ethan and Selenka. Both are incredibly powerful. Equals.
Awesome new development on the Scarab Syndrome and the Architect of the Consortium. With Nalini’s amazing imagination, this series can go forever and I’ll continue to read it.
Alpha Night delivers readers a new Russian wolf pack (yay, back to Russia!) and a broken arrow. Singh’s writing is so brilliant, you will be swept into a world you never want to leave.
The “alpha” of Alpha Night is Selenka Durev, alpha of the Blackedge wolves and the Night is Ethan Night, Arrow who was raised and torture by Ming Labon to be a weapon. These two have a mate at first sight meet cute! Ethan is broken in so many ways. First, he was isolated and tortured by Ming throughout his childhood, and now he is living a gray life with no purpose, no connections. However confusing it is to him, he is devoted to Selenka from the start. But a darkness in Ethan is causing a damage to their bond and both are determined to figure out why. Both of these characters were amazing and perfect for each other. With Selenka being an alpha, Ethan has to be tough enough to stand beside her. As he says, “I’m the knight to your queen” and its so true!
Like all of Singh’s books, there are so many layers to Alpha Night. Selenka’s pack has some trouble, Ethan has a dangerous power in his brain, and The Architect is still trying to bring down Trinity. All of these events weave together and build upon one another.
I love each and every story in the Psy-Changling world, and Selenka’s and Ethan’s story was no exception. The characters stole my heart and the world continues to enrapture. I must mention that Angela Dawe’s narration continues to be flawless! She does a wonderful Russian accent that really keeps you in the story.
WOW, I loved this book so much!! I can’t believe how much! So much that I stayed up until 6am finishing it, like it was the old days when I first started the series, and I didn’t have babies, or any other weekend responsibilities! 5 Stars!!
Selenka Durev is the alpha of a Russian wolfpack. Her pack, the local bear den, and the strongest Psy in the PsyNet, Kaleb Krycheck, have all coexisted in the vicinity of Moscow for many years, and they have a tenuous peace, strengthened more lately, by the Trinity Accord. There’s currently an Empath symposium that she and her wolves, and the Arrow squad, are working security for, when there’s quite an unexpected development in her life. An Arrow she’s never met protects her against a threat, by crashing into her body, and into her heart. Mating at first sight is only supposed to be a thing in myths and fairy tales, but here they are. Now what?!
Ethan Night is an Arrow, but a broken one. He spent most of his life isolated, and tortured by former Psy Councilor, Ming LeBon. He has a unique power, that most other Psy have never seen before, and he was used by Ming as a lethal weapon. But, he’s existed in a gray place, that he created as a child to protect himself, as much as he could, from the people doing him harm. He doesn’t really FEEL anything, and it’s starting to get to him. Then, when he neutralizes the situation at the symposium, and meets Selenka, things blast into full color. He is utterly devoted to her an in instant, and he’s thrilled that the gray world that had shackled him for most of his life is obliterated by her light. But, they don’t really know each other at all, and Ethan has big secrets that could change everything.
Ethan and Selenka obviously had instant chemistry, with a mating at first sight (a first for this long-running series!), but they didn’t know each other at all, so having such a strong connection with a stranger had it’s issues. They both have secrets, and people they’ve vowed to protect, and I loved watching them open up to each other. I also loved how quickly they had to do it, in order to make sure everyone else in their orbit was protected. Their bond was limited, as Ethan was forced to hold a secret, dangerous part of himself back, and it made the bond like splinters, when it should’ve been a solid rope. Watching them work out how to correct the static in their bond was awesome.
The side characters here, as always in this series, are superb. I love seeing old favorites again, and more recent favorites too, and how their connections all fit together. They all have common goals, of protecting the Trinity Accord, removing the power held by the villainous Consortium, and keeping their friends and families safe. The way they all manage to work together, even past age old skirmishes and mistrust between packs, is the best. I especially loved seeing Valentin and Silver again in this story. They’re one of my favorite couples, and I hope we’ll get more bears in the future, because they are the BEST!
The suspense part of the plot is always spot on, and the bad guys are often a mystery until right when the author wants them to be revealed, and I love that she keeps me guessing. I also love that all the bad guys’ actual identities are often not revealed, and that the suspense plot carries over the series, as all the parts fall into place. This author’s world building is like no other, and I am always thrilled to dive back into this exciting universe of characters I adore. I highly recommend this book and found it to be a spectacular addition to the series!
Such a great book. It was so wonderful. The only thing is I wish there had been more Bears. Cause, ya know…….Bears. The world building is so phenomenal in Nalini Singh’s stories. I am constantly amazed. She brings such heartfelt emotion to her stories and this was not an exception. I was wondering how the insta-mating would play out, and it worked. As the story progresses the meaning and need for it becomes apparent.
Ethan was fascinating. Pairing him with Selenka was perfect. They complemented each other so well. I also loved Ethan’s acceptance into the pack. To me, the changelings are the heart of this series, and it is such a joy to see the way the packs operate. We also got more information on what is happening on the PsyNet. So, while this was a beautiful love story, the arc of this series is moving forward. We also got to see several of my favorite characters from previous books.
All in all a total joy to read. But, I still would like more Bears.

Blurb :
Alpha wolf Selenka Durev’s devotion to her pack is equaled only by her anger at anyone who would harm those under her care. That currently includes the empaths who’ve flowed into her city for a symposium that is a security nightmare, a powder keg just waiting for a match.
Ethan Night is an Arrow who isn’t an Arrow. Numb and disengaged from the world, he’s loyal only to himself. Assigned as part of the security force at a world-first symposium, he carries a dark agenda tied to the power-hungry and murderous Consortium. Then violence erupts and Ethan finds himself crashing into the heart and soul of an alpha wolf.
Mating at first sight is a myth, a fairytale. Yet Selenka’s wolf is resolute: Ethan Night, broken Arrow and a man capable of obsessive devotion, is the mate it has chosen. Even if the mating bond is full of static and not quite as it should be. Because Selenka’s new mate has a terrible secret, his mind surging with a power that is a creature of madness and death…
My review :
When an instant attraction bonds them forever, do they have a forever awaiting them …
I know I have other books to read before this one but when a new Psy-changeling book finds its way in my kindle, I am like a kid on Christmas Day, I have no patience. And I tried, I waited 3 whole days before reading it.
Well, I needed a rest day so …
It is always difficult to review a book when you are a fan girl, I know I am absolutely not objective, but be it that way.
While it is in some way a standalone, as the couple found their HEA, I do not see how someone could enter this series without having read the other books, this said, with Silver Silence, as they both are set in a new place with two new packs, so a whole bunch of new characters, it was like being back in Slave in Sensation or Caressed by Ice when I discovered the Darkriver and Snowdancer clans.
And WoW!
Firstly I loved the dynamic between the two tribes, how the bears plays with the wolves and vis versa. Then the span set is for once on a very short time, a matter of a few days, no more. And last the mating at first sight, a first in this series. There is not back and forth, it is as it must be and both party agrees with it.
And by the end, the urgency of their mating finds its purpose.
So now it is established, we set foot in a new pack, what about the main characters.
Ethan, oh my, Ethan. After Judd, Kaleb, Vasic and Aden, there is now Ethan. An other Arrow, one more broken damaged psy to an extend impossible to comprehend. And worst when his true nature will be finally revealed.
How I adore Mrs Nalini for her talent to bring to life awesome characters with each a past like no other. I thought I had read all the unbelievable cruelty some psy were able, especially Ming Bon, but Ethan is another trophy to his hunting board. He is a survivor, and how he was able too, a dedication to his resilience and his iron will.
Thus, from his first interaction with Selenka, he shows his inner tumult and once he is claimed, she becomes the center of his attention. Even his need for revenge becomes secondary. She inhabits him and for her, her only, he will do anything.
At no moment he doubts their link, he stays true to himself and never lie to her, the good and the bad. He knows the value of their bond and refuses to tarnish it with anything even omissions.
Selenka, I had a glimpse of her in the previous books, a badass of a woman, one of the few alphas, head of clans. She is a woman on a mission but also one with so much love, which she shares with anyone needing it.
It is so fun and moving at the same time to watch an alpha interacting with his fellows, they hug, cry, play or even fight but all with one purpose, the good of the pack.
She is a soldier with a heart of gold, and with Ethan, she has found her perfect counterpart. Where he can harm with a single thought, he can also sooth the most vulnerable. Her fierce affection is what drove Ethan to her, she saved him once, and from this moment, he shifted all his determination to be her arm, her heart, her all and always.
So it is no surprise, this new addition in this series is a 5 stars. I loved my day spent among the Blackedge pack, getting to know the youngsters, the elders, their dominants and their leader.
A wonderful way to pass the time, I have now plenty of new friends with a mix of a few bears.
I was granted an advance copy of this book and had also preordered mine. Here is my true and not too much unbiased opinion.

Nalini Singh has done it again! The latest addition to the Psy-Changeling series is just as captivating and steamy as the very first. As always, Singh’s characters are compelling, her psy-changeling politics intriguing, and the chemistry off the charts!
Alpha Night is the story of tough as nails, passionate wolf-shifter alpha, Selenka Durev, and Ethan Night, a damaged Psy who has every reason to fear emotional connections. Selenka and Ethan meet in an unorthodox way – a perplexing would-be assassination attempt at an important E-Psy symposium. Neither Ethan or Selenka thought they would find their strong chemistry turn quickly into an unbreakable and instant mating bond – something that is practically unheard of. Now they must work together to not only take-down the shockingly corrupt Consortium and its malicious players and to maintain peace between Selenka’s Pack and the fanatic neighboring religious group but also repair the damage done to Ethan after a lifetime of torture from a former Psy Councilor. Along the way, they discover just how beautiful their bond can be.
I finished this book in less than a day – I simply couldn’t put it down. As always, the characters in the Psy-Changeling universe are easy to love and you can’t help feeling invested in Selenka and Ethan’s budding relationship. Ethan’s devotion to his mate is the thing of fairytales and Selenka’s fierce adoration of both Ethan and her pack is as clear as it is inspiring. Readers get a glimpse at the closeness of the BlackEdge pack and well-loved characters from prior books in the series, including the pair that started it all – Sascha and Lucas (a personal favorite couple of mine). You can never go wrong with a Psy-Changeling book. Highly recommend.
