Feral. Unstable. Hungry. Words that describe a rogue, not a den mother. Rhea Scott has crawled out of the darkness lingering in the deepest part of her soul. Keeping her grounded are her pack, the kids she protects and cares for, and a partner she keeps at a distance. Mating with Alec would be a fatal mistake—he’d crash and burn with her if the darkness ever won.Nothing will stop Ashwood leopard … will stop Ashwood leopard Marshal, Alec Andrews, from claiming Rhea. The stubborn female thinks she’s protecting him by denying the mating pull, but she’s wrong. He’ll tear down the walls she’s built around her heart and show her they belong together.
The war is supposed to be over, but a new enemy has risen from the fallen Onyx Pack’s ashes. After children are kidnapped, Rhea’s wolf goes into maternal protection mode and she won’t rest until the kids are home safe. No one is going to stop her, especially that hotheaded, sexy, alpha male, Alec Andrews.

Alpha Challenge is a tale of second chances and new beginnings. Both Alec and Rhea have differing reasons for avoiding the mating bond. The past has left them with scars they’ll need to overcome to have a future. I really like these two together. As they fight a common enemy they grow closer together. I really liked Rhea. She has an inner strength that I truly admired. This is a fantastic addition to the series and left me wanting more.
Love love love this series!!
Fast paced intense paranormal romance. Rhea is such a strong woman with a sad past. Alec knows she is his mate but knows she is hiding something. It was difficult to start this series with book 10 but I picked up enough to know what’s going on. Overall enjoyable read
What a good read. Love Rhea and Alec and their connection. Well written story that flows well. Love a hot alpha.
I’m pretty familiar with this series and have read most of them. I think I might have not read book 9 yet but I dont feel I missed anything so its all good. I liked both Alec and Rhea. Both are sorta hard headed and are a very good match for one another. They havent mated yet because there are a few secrets and so they are avoiding the issue until the situation with the mutants escalates and Alec figures it out. The series is definitely not over and unfortunately Onyx isn’t finished with Ashwood either….until the next book we’ll have to see!
As someone who kind of just jumped right into the Ashwood Falls series (with Alpha Challenge being my first one), I would say that I probably would’ve benefited more and understood more of the same problems that seem to carry on throughout the series. I also feel it would help readers understand a bit more of the hierarchy and the history with all the characters that help to tie in with the ongoing story.
As for Rhea and Alec’s story, this is a complete romance between both shifters. For Rhea it’s a second chance at mating after losing her mate and children. She’s known for awhile that Alec was her mate, but she fought hard against her wolf because some secrets are just to painful to relive. And she would have to relive them if she mated Alec, to explain who she is and everything she holds close.
For Alec he’s fought their mating after seeing what losing a mate did to his father. Their species is able to link together and he was able to feel the pain and madness his father felt after their mother died. But fate won’t be denied and these two can only fight for so long before one of them gives in.
I had a lot of issues reading this book. There were A LOT of grammatical errors. There was also a big issue with the author constantly renaming Rhea’s deceased mate. First his name was Coby, then Cody, and later when she’s dreaming it’s Paul…I mean what’s his freakin name?!?
I really liked the fact that this book was hot! I really enjoyed the plot of this book and found the characters interesting. I will be reading more books from this world in the future.
Alpha Challenge
Interesting characters with trials and troubles coming at them from all directions it seems at times, I enjoyed reading this story
The stories of Ashwood Falls are intense. I would advise that you read them in order to fully understand each book in the series. With evil around every tree and the mutants now having more abilities and thoughts. Alex and Rhea finally open up to each other with secrets and being mates. I do enjoy this series it builds with each book in the series.
this was a really great book! she is a den mother to the pack children. he is her mate and he will have her soon. there is danger coming that could cost some there lives. read to find out what happens.
My first book in this series. Really liked it. I will definitely have to check the rest out. Mates who just won’t give in to each other in the beginning. Secrets that could cause issues. Love all the different paranormal. Really great read.
I enjoyed the story though it would of been easier for me to follow had i started from the beginning of the series. What did surprise me was the amount of mistakes in the book, there were a lot.
Rhea and Alec have both suffered so much pain and loss they are afraid to mate but they can’t fight it forever.
There’s a new enemy out there.
They are about to enter another war when they just got out of one.
If you are looking for a good paranormal passionate romance, this book is for you. I enjoyed Alec and Rhea’s story very much. Alec just wants to protect Rhea, even if that means not with him. Join these two on their journey, as they each try to get what they want.
These two together, their passion for their beliefs and each other was just a great read. The push and the pull between the two. Sometimes i wanted to just hit him upside the head, he was being so stubborn. There is so much going on in the story that i was kept entertained and did not want to put my kindle down. So overall, if you are looking for a great paranormal read, this is definitely it!!
I enjoyed Alec and Rhea’s story very much. Rita is such a good strong wolf that is very maternal but has had a lot of sadness in her life, she has already lost a lost and children, her previous alpha basically turned her into a killing machine with her skills as a hunter but all she wants now is to protect the children of the pack. She protects the young, even if it is with her life. Alec just wants to protect Rhea. But is there anything more satisfying than the love of a child? Rhea is not sure but she is more than willing to find out. That is, if she can get past her past and believe in the power of a second chance mate.
Destined to be mates, Alec and Rhea struggle to let go of their traumatic pasts in order to protect the ones they love. In the end, love wins. Really enjoyed this book.
Wow, talk about a page turner! It’s a story that once you start you won’t be able to put down. It has romance, suspense, and surprises. Alec and Rhea both have to take a leap to be together. They figure this out as the pack works to get back their own. Definitely recommend this!
These are a must read book but for me it was somewhat confusions in place. I recommend reading the series in order as the questions of who the mutants arel
Leopards, Wolves, and Mutants…oh my. Imagine losing half or all of your family to a war with mutants enhanced by a mad man’s serums. That is how the Ashwood shifters can about. Pack banded together for protection and to protect their remaining families. Everyone has secrets about their past that much be brought into the light for them to survive. Alec and Rhea have great chemistry as mates who have been denying it for many years. He does not want to mate with anyone because of how his family fell apart. It is well written but I feel like I was ready a book from the middle because I really didn’t know how all the characters were related and came together. It was a little disjointed moving from one story thread to another. This one would have benefitted by having read some of the other books in the series. Lia Davis is a strong well rounded writer whose books really grab the reader
To be honest at first I was a little lost but that is on me because I haven’t read the rest of the series, you can be sure I will correct that soon. This was a really good read with kind of a unique twist on normal shifters but I enjoyed it. It was well written with good characters
The advisory to read this series in order was at the end of my book. It really needs to be read in order so it is better understood. There were enough Easter eggs that I pieced the situation together though. I did enjoy Alex and Rhea’s story.
