Pink is his new addiction
—>>> This author really brings it in this latest slew of high-school bully romances I have been seeing, but this one has a wolf-shifter twist, and it is intense and delicious, told from both POVs which lends much to understanding their characters’ progression from enemies to lovers. Cole Muchmore is most definitely a wicked Alpha, most definitely hating on his new human female neighbor, and definitely cannot seem to stop himself from thinking about her. Neither Bailey nor Cole is unaffected by life’s major conflicts, but together they are able to navigate the pack taboo of wolf mixing with humans along with many other issues throughout to their HEA. Loved this story!
I just loved this Alpha Bully and his girl! 4 stars
I was intrigued at the beginning of this book, then as I kept reading my love this book grew until my smile at the end! Cole’s reason to bully her was a little ridiculous since Bailey had no control over what happened, and that’s all I will say on that! Cole was an Alpha-hole, but once he got to know her his protective instincts kicked in. He had a character arc that I appreciated. Bailey ended up being a strong, brave girl, and I adored her. Cole and Bailey were fire together! My emotions were engaged, and I enjoyed every moment of this book. I definitely recommend this book!

STORY:
This was such a good read for me. The mix of paranormal/shifter and bully romance gave me an excitement I didn’t know I needed. While I love this book, 20% had bully romance while the remaining 80% felt more like a forbidden romance between Wolf shifter and human.
Cole was obviously a jerk in the beginning of this story. His father lost his job to Bailey’s mom, thus starting Bailey FML journey. Cole being an Alpha has everyone listening to his orders when it comes to Bailey. He doesn’t have the best home life and this also affects him and his treatment of her. Bailey is the cute nerd who does everything by the book with prefect grades. I like the way she slowly melts away the hatred from Cole.
CHEMISTRY:
Damnnnnnnn Cole, can you crawl through my window too? He really is an Alpha because his sexual language spoke to me in the bedroom. On behalf of Cole, thank goodness for porno, lol it seems to have helped him out a lot. I enjoyed Cole’s and Bailey’s sexual chemistry as they gel so well together, her being inexperienced with submissive nature and Cole Alpha with his dominant attitude.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
I liked Rain, Bailey’s best friend, wish she had her own story, and I also liked Cole’s sister. I am a little disappointed though because I would have loved to have known Cole’s friends more and have this series expands. His friends sounded yummy.
OVERALL, a nice blend for me with shifter and bully romance. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline.
TRIGGERS: attempted sexual assault and alcohol abuse
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
OMG I couldn’t put this book down. I effing loved it!!! Renee Rose hit this one out of the park for sure. Reading this book, I felt the angst and the emotional highs and lows of both Cole and Bailey. The forbidden relationship–shifter and human, first as enemies, and slowly reaching the depths of young love. There was so much turmoil to overcome between Bailey and Cole. Loyalty, trust, pack law, and family love were all at stake and Renee Rose made you feel every emotion. And the bullying and verbal torture of Bailey, so real, so believable, but not so over the top that it crossed the bullying line. And the sex scenes were hot, hot, hot!
This was so good, it’s definitely going into my reread folder and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
~~ 4 “HAIL TO THE KING OF WOLF RIDGE” STARS ~~
“She’s Mine. Mine to torment”
Renee Rose melts hearts and incinerates panties with ALPHA BULLY, a scintillating bully romance with a shapeshifter twist! I have been an admirer of this author’s work for a while but this ingenious plot…an enemies to lovers werewolf romance set in a small-town high school was utterly SCRUMPTIOUS!
PREMISE:
Cole, a big, brawny football hottie, gives new meaning to the term GROWLY alpha but he’s more than just eye candy for a bevy of drooling cheerleaders. He runs the school and everyone knows not to cross him. Except one girl. Bailey. She’s the new girl in Wolf Ridge High and he has an ax to grind with the bookish virginal outcast–her mother stole his drunken daddy’s job–and he’s determined to wield his alphahole power over the high school misfit and make her pay bigtime. But he never intended on falling had over heels for the beautifully broken spitfire who he set out to ruin! Before long, loathing morphs into red-hot lust and he puts the kibosh on his plans for revenge and plans on ANOTHER form of torture. Mind bending pleasure mingled with a heady dose of dominance! While Bailey is the forbidden fruit and he fights every predatory instinct inside of him to keep from marking the pretty human, there’s just something about her that arouses his every protective, primal instinct and has his clamoring to claim her as his mate. A fiery attraction and tender-hearted bond quickly blossom between them but he keeps the truth of who he REALLY is from her to keep her safe. But when Bailey winds up in unspeakable peril, and she learns his shocking secret, the ensuing scandal threatens to destroy them both. Will this King of Wolf Ridge risk it all—including alienating his pack—for true love?
MY MUSINGS:
Mmmm… this steamy shapeshifter tale was the bomb! I was immediately hooked by ALPHA BULLY from the onset. This fast paced and highly entertaining high school PNR romance was sweet and smoking hot and oh so spankilicious it had me hyperventilating! While this is the first NA romance I have read by Ms. Rose, I think she knocked it out of the park! Bailey and Cole have a captivating chemistry and their sparks sizzled from from page one! I love me a bully romance where the cocky, swaggeringly sexy high school bully sets out to break and conquer his innocent victim and Bailey was Cole’s prey in more ways than one!
And while the bully aspect did not last long—Cole’s feelings for his pretty little human transformed pretty quick and he never reached full-fledged alphahole status in my opinion—I nevertheless thoroughly enjoyed this story because it had the best of what I love about Renee Rose’s books. Lots of scorching hot spanky times and shivers and feels galore! And Yum! Who can resist a forbidden love story fearing a rough around the edges alpha werewolf with a heavy hand but a mega huge heart who is pitted against a sweet, sassy heroine who quickly melts his iron defenses? The connection between these two was amazing. Both have endured their share of heartache and tragedy in their lives and I love how they help each other heal and find an inner strength and resilience neither of them knew they possessed! I also enjoyed the secondary cast—especially members of Cole’s close-knit wolf pack—and thought the juicy high school drama and small-town scandal were handled marvelously.
This was an audio listen for moi and Kai Kennicott and Wen Rose brought this entertaining shapeshifter bully romance to flesh and blood life! Kai tapped into Bailey’s vulnerability, sweetness and saucy sass beautifully—my heart truly ached for her plight—and Wen was as magnetic and devilishly charming as ever. Sighhh! This velvet-voiced narrator never fails to make my heart go pitter patter and leave me all aquiver! Every time he growled “Babygirl” to Bailey, or put her over his knee to mete out his erotic punishments, I couldn’t stop squirming in ecstasy! Bottom line? This entertaining duo once again claimed my attention, thoroughly enraptured me and left me completely smitten!
Alpha Bully
Wolf Ridge High, Book 1
By: Renee Rose
Narrated by: Kai Kennicott, Wen Ross
You know that boy in high school that you can’t help but love, even if he is a jerk to you? Cole is that boy. He runs the school and is making life horrible for Bailey. But she can’t help the attraction. And we all know what it means when the boy is a jerk. His feelings become clear quickly. But she is off limits. Her mother took his father’s job, and she is a human! What will become of these two? Will they find a way to be together? This is a fantastic distraction from everyday life. Cole is that bully we all know, but when you get to know him, it’s hard not to feel for him. His life is not anything like he portrays. Bailey is a tough cookie. She is up against a wall in so many ways, but finds her strength from not only herself, but through Cole. I enjoy Renee Rose’s writing style, a little rough, but a lot of heart making the story melt your heart.
Rose could not have chosen a better team for this narration. Kai Kennicott shines as Bailey. She comes through with a new adult voice and teenage emotions. Wen Ross comes in as Cole, a bully with a heart, a little rough around the edges. These two have such fantastic chemistry that pours over into their romance narrations, it’s a pleasure to listen to them.

Wow!!!! This book was hands-down AMAZING!!!! This was the first time I read a book by this author and I was definitely NOT disappointed!!! Soo much steamy scenes that will keep you coming back for more!!
Bully romance is not even close to being my favorite genre. That being said, I’m glad that I read this story because I ended up loving it. I don’t know what all made me love it, but I did and I wanted more. The story was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and relatable. I understood where Cole was coming from even though it wasn’t fair to Bailey. I understood Bailey’s attraction to the hot guy even though he “hates” you. They were both broken due to circumstances they couldn’t change or felt they couldn’t change but when they were together it was like they fixed the holes that they each had. I read this book and then re-read this book to make sure that what I thought and felt from the first reading was actually accurate, it was. I wouldn’t say that there is a happy ever after, but definitely a happy for now ending. It would be awesome if there were an epilogue further out (hint, hint!) that gave additional insight into their happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.
This is the very first paranormal, wolf-shifter book I have ever read. I am totally impressed by Renee Rose’s ability to immediately pull me into the family and personal trauma experienced by two high schoolers. Cole is a wolf-shifter; Bailey merely a human. Out of anger for his own situation, Cole decides to isolate and bully Bailey. To find out how it all turns out, I highly recommend you read this delicious story for yourself.
Writing YA romance can be tricky. You have to believe in the romance, but you also have to believe that the protagonists are *teenagers.* While Rose is a master at creating a romance, I struggled with the YA aspects of Alpha Knight. Basically, the heroine and hero didn’t come across as high-school age to me. It was like watching a romcom where it’s evident the actors playing the roles are in their late 20s/early 30s instead of closer to high-school age.
I’m supposed to believe that the heroine Sloane, as a high school student, knows how to break into and then fence cars for resale. I might be able to swallow that if she had grown up around, say, a chop shop or a legitimate auto repair business. But Sloane is supposed to be a trust-fund kid who’s fallen onto hard times. Right, because rich kids know all about breaking into cars and finding a front for resale. One of my mouth-agape moments was when Sloane is taking a stolen car to a shop and hoping she can observe them stripping parts from another car and putting them into her stolen car to anonymize it so she can do it next time. Because, you know, if you watch a complex mechanical task once, you can easily replicate it.
Add to this that Sloane is at risk because her father embezzled funds from mafia figures, and they’re after her for information he ostensibly sent her in letters she no longer has. Add to this the shifter culture that the hero Bo is a part of, and the typical longing for a human when shifters aren’t supposed to reveal themselves. Add to this the whole hiding-in-plain-sight aspects of the shifters. There was just a bit much going on here. And for me, the final resolution to Sloane’s dilemma strained credulity.
I liked Bo as a character. I liked Sloane’s forthrightness. Rose’s writing about their love is great. But multiple aspects of this plot were unbelievable to me. Combined with protagonists who felt like people acting young instead of being young, Alpha Knight just didn’t add up. I love love love Rose’s writing. Unfortunately, this one was a rare misfire.
Yes! Alpha Bully kicks off this new series with a bang! This is not your average teen wolf story. It has all the action and heat expected from a Renee Rose novel. LOVE!
OMG! I loved this book! All the feels! And the HEAT! With an anti-hero who quickly redeems himself and an innocent, yet strong, heroine with a tragic past, Renee Rose brings the reader right back to those angsty, yet thrilling days of high school first love. Except damn! It was never this delicious! Highly recommend!
Cole Muchmore hates his next door neighbor. She has caused nothing but torment by his father since the her mother stole his job. Bailey has no idea why Cole bullies her, nor does she understand why the whole school seems to have it in for her. She goes about her day just trying to get by though. Cole though cant stop his attraction to Bailey and when he acts on it he wants to keep it secret, but what happens when it all comes out?
This was really good. Cole was a total jerk and his anger was aimed at the wrong person but you understand why as the book goes on. Bailey was an interesting character because she stood up for herself. Entertaining read.
Renee Rose’s ALPHA BULLY is a captivating foundation to the Wolf Ridge High series. In this story human, Bailey Sanchez, moves to Cave Hills, Arizona after her mom accepts a job there. Unfortunately, the person her mother is replacing is there new next-door neighbor/wolf shifter, Jerry Muchmore, who was fired from his position. His son Wolf Ridge High quarterback/alpha Cole takes offense to the humans that made his life a hell. He seeks his revenge on Bailey by making her an outcast at the school. However, as much as he hates her, he finds himself attracted to her. This contemporary paranormal romance is suitable for new adult readers.
Renee Rose does an amazing job with ALPHA BULLY. I like Cole’s character. He is conflicted. He is dominant and protective of those he cares about. Bailey is a sweet heroine. She is smart. She has no idea wolf shifters exist. They both lost someone, and they both need to heal. The story takes some thought-provoking twists. The pack dynamics in the novel was compelling. Both characters grow substantially throughout the story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Holy, hell! That was HOT!! Yet it also had an amazing level of emotionally maturity to it, and contains a story that was incredibly well chartered.
We first meet Bailey and are immediately drawn to her. She just sounds like an ordinary person who is having one craptastic day, and being treated horribly by the people next-door. It actually turns out lucky for her though that she missed her school bus and couldn’t get a ride from her neighbor. That’s how she happens to meet Rayne, who quickly becomes her first friend in this new town.
Cole is such a mean, hateful person at the beginning of the story, that I seriously wondered how he could have any redeeming qualities or become a romantic lead worthy of Bailey. That is, until something truly horrible happens to her, with him as the sole witness. Pretty much from that moment on, Cole becomes her champion; supporting her emotionally as she tries to work thru things, being her confidant, even a friend, and then slowly but surely so more than that. They do keep all of this hidden from most of the outside world for the majority of the book though. When and how things start to be known definitely play significant parts in the tale.
There were several minor characters, mostly in the background, but some that had significant interactions with one or both of the protagonists. All of them were interesting, and many delightful. I am hopefully there are future volumes in this series that highlight other individuals that we just met in passing. There was definitely a lot to work with there.
One thing that I do want to point out in particular is how well the concept of consent is handled here. There is a huge amount of power exchange that occurs with this couple; and Cole is basically just downright bossy in every aspect of their relationship. But all throughout the story, Cole very specifically makes sure that Bailey is on board with whatever they are doing before proceeding with anything. And since this is a dual point-of-view tale, we get to hear from her directly about how confident she is that he’d stop any time she asks, as well as how safe and secure this makes her feel.
This is certainly a book that I recommend for anyone who enjoys an excellently penned, spicy New Adult Paranormal Romance. It is very rare that you run across a book so well written in every aspect, from the finely crafted plot to characters with depth to spicy hot love scenes. It is definitely one of my favorite books that I’ve read so far this year!
I’ve read some great high school bully romances lately but this one is at the top of the list. Renee Rose’s high school alpha shifter Cole is every bit as commanding and hot as his adult counterparts in the Bad Boy Alpha series she co-writes with Lee Savino. I love strong female characters and Bailey is certainly one. She doesn’t crumble under pressure and faces adversity head-on. Cole is magnificently dominant and sexy, and I loved being inside his head. Together they are combustible as evidenced in those scorching sex scenes. I just finished this book and I want to start all over because I didn’t want it to end. This super hot, darkish, love story is a great read and completely riveting. I am eagerly looking forward to the next book of the series.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Young love and angst
Renee Rose has written another fabulous book for the Alpha’s series. I loved the dynamics between Bailey and Cole. The return to Wolf Ridge with the characters as teenagers so we can understand the dynamics of these two as well as other characters that we have or will meet was very interesting. The scenes flowed well from one to the next. There are a lot of sexy steamy scenes. I recommend this book and the entire series! One-click it you won’t be disappointed.
First book by Renee Rose and I loved it. Awesome characters, couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to reading more of this series especially Rayne story!!
Well I have loved the whole Alpha series.
Am I in love with this offshoot from that series? HELL YES!!!!
Was I a little leary of the younger characters, bully and high school theme? DAMN RIGHT!!
But I should have known that Ms. Rose would only deliver the best and absolutely not disappoint on any level.
Does the story evoke memories of high school good and bad ? Absolutely!
Does it read as younger and immature, NO!
The story deals with social and peer pressure, addiction, assault, sexual awakening, bullying, growth, redemption, forgiveness and so many more issues we all deal with in our lives no matter what our age or status.
That being said, I loved Cole and Bailey’s story, it was deeply emotional, sexy, hot, showed a changing relationship in it’s many incarnations and had well rounded, complex relatable characters. The story evoked a variety of émotions, pulled me in and had me wrapped up in the story till the last page!
Such a surprising and thoroughly good story, well done!
I admit, I was nervous about this book. I love the series this is based on, but I wasn’t sure about teenagers (they are both 18, but in high school) or about bullies. I was pleasantly surprised.
Bailey is a new to the school and the community. Her mother took a job at the local brewery to get it into compliance with the FDA. Cole is the son of the man who Bailey’s mom replaced. Not a great situation. Cole is the bully, but then circumstances happen and they get together.
I really liked this story and I can’t wait for more in the series. I read this through KU.
