New Steamy contemporary romance from New York Times Bestselling Author JS CooperI just wanted to have some fun…It all started when I moved into my new apartment in Brooklyn and met my neighbor, Olivia. We became fast friends and so when she had to go out of town on an emergency work trip, I agreed to give her brother her keys so he could look after her dog. And then I met him. Her brother was … Her brother was Carter Stevens and he was sex on legs. He was a banker by day and a musician by night; arrogant, handsome, with the most tantalizing smile I’d ever seen. When he invited me to his show, I couldn’t say no.
He wasn’t looking for a relationship…
The night of the show we stumbled back to my place and had fun I can only blush thinking about. I’d never had a one-night stand before, but one night soon led to two, which led to three. Carter was exciting and mysterious, but he was a total playboy. He made it clear that this was some no strings attached fun.
But fate had other plans for us…
I thought we’d been careful, but I guess there was that one time that we weren’t. And now, I’m pregnant and Carter Stevens and I have to figure out what to do next because one thing we both know for sure is that the baby is coming in nine months and we have no idea what to do next.

Audio review
It’s a fun and entertaining story. I enjoyed the banter and the chemistry between the characters. I liked the sparks and heartwarming pull between the characters. I loved the characters and storyline.
The narration by Laura was smooth and enjoyable. She kept you entertained and hooked. I enjoyed her performance.
Lila is looking for her Prince Charming, but she hasn’t even come close to finding him. She’s taking a break to concentrate on her career as a litigation attorney, a job that she doesn’t even like. Her neighbor, Danielle, is leaving for England in the next couple of days and her brother is coming to take care of the dog, Frosty. Danielle describes her brother, Carter, as a charismatic, very good looking playboy and she warned Lila that he would be chasing after her. Lila’s not worried because she doesn’t think that most men would be interested in her. When Carter comes to Lila’s door to get the keys, her thoughts go straight to fantasy world. Gorgeous, tall and such a great voice, he’s a banker by day, musician by night and just a flirtatious as his sister said he would be. Lila falls under his spell right away and Carter realizes that he wants to spend more time with her. What might have remained casual from the beginning, becomes heated quickly and they’re hardly ever apart. When Lila watches his band perform, she finds herself even more under his spell. But there are some problems and they all have to do with Lila’s colleague in the law office. Carter is horribly jealous and gets out of line a little too frequently. Yes, her friend from work, Dante, does have designs on her and goes out of his way to ask her to go out for drinks after work. All of this time, Carter and Lila are spending almost all day and all night together, with no end in sight. Oh, but there is an end because as soon as Danielle gets home from England, he’ll be gone. Carter and Lila have a basic problem with their relationship and it all comes back to communication. He’s not too interested in defining their relationship because he’s never wanted to make a commitment. To Lila, the commitment is something she needs to hear. Life sometimes throws a wrench into your plans and deposits it at your door. This is a relatable story with characters that are complex, believable and full of life. Well written!
5 Star review Along Came Baby by J S Cooper
Audio Review:
J.S. Cooper is a new author to me and I have absolutely no idea why I have not read or listened to this author before.
It was meant to be a one night stand but you know what they say? It can soon turn in to so much more and that is what happened in this story. Carter Stevens, a banker by day, a musician by night, ticked the boxes for me. Lily is the neighbor of Carter’s sister Olivia and when she is asked to hand over Olivia’s keys to her brother she has no idea that one action will lead to surprising changes in both their lives.
Although not a long book, it certainly was entertaining as well as hot and steamy.
The story is well written and I was invested as I listened to Along Came Baby. Narrator Laura Jennings is new to me and I enjoyed her performance; her voices were good and she was pleasant to listen too.
AudioBook Version!
Overall story is okay, the narration in the audiobook however would not draw me in to much into the story that wanted me to continue to listen to the very end in one sitting. It took me almost two months to finish listening to the book because the Narrator was monotone to me, seriously nothing enticing in her voice, i almost gave up and wanted to read the book myself because I wanted to know how it ended so hoped that the story continued i would be more enticed by the narration, i was not.
As for the book itself it was okay i liked the characters at times even though Carter and Lila both needed to do some growing up. Their relationship was supposed to be a one night stand but developed into more of friends with benefits then throw in a pregnancy. There relationship is never well established they even admit in the book they don’t know much of one another and the best chemistry among them two is in the bedroom. but in the end they reveal their feelings for one another and now they are engaged but there story does not end there as the book hints there is more to come of their story. Honestly felt the book was a little rushed but i did like some of the humor and how Carter and Lila handled the news about the pregnancy news together.
Unexpected pregnancy can be such a downer but these two manage to make it an adventure. Do we ever know what we really want?
Carter is a sexy as sin Wall Street type who spends his nights rocking in a band. Lily is a curvaceous lawyer who needs a little more fun in her life. She finds that fun when Carter comes to dog sit for his sister who is Lily’s neighbor.
This is a quick easy listen. The romance is steamy. The narrator is pleasant to listen to and does a nice job switching between male and female roles. I really liked all the song references. As an Ohio girl I love that Carter is a Buckeye fan! There are some minor character development issues like Lily doesn’t know the words to her favorite song.
Overall I really enjoyed this and would recommend this to fans of Intsalove and Surprise Babies (I feel like that isn’t a spoiler because hello it’s in the title.)
A must read romance!
Characters with the emotional maturity of middle schoolers. This did not improve throughout the book. Hero acted abusively and this was never called out. Will not read follow up.
“Along Came Baby” by J.S. Cooper is a great read. I enjoyed Lila and Carter’s story. This story has passion, romance, humor, entertaining characters, and more. I’m anxious to see what happens next with these characters in “Along Came Marriage.” Highly recommend to all fans of romance.
Carter and Lila are temporary neighbours. They meet and hookup as a one night stand that does not end. Until Lila ends up pregnant. Can Carter and Lila negotiate this complication so early in their relationship? Great story. Totally loved it!!
This book is sweet, flirty and steamy. Carter met his match in Lila, his sister’s neighbor when he is dog sitting for her. They hit is off even though neither one is looking for a relationship. I love reading how their one night stand grew into more and more nights. I loved this book, I loved it from “Hey, sexy” and now I can’t wait to read the next one!
When Lila met Carter it was combustible to say the least. They had an immediate attraction that burned very hot. It’s always fun to watch the mighty fall, and Carter certainly surprised me with his journey. I’m looking forward to Dante falling next.
Along Came Baby is such a great read. Carter whose definitely trying to be depicted as a hit it and quit it type is sooooo much more as Lila learns. You cannot help but fall for Carter Stevens. He’s written in a sexy, frustrating, funny and complex way. We get to watch him navigate from no strings attached to?!?( you have to read it to find out)!!! Watching JS Cooper navigate through Lila’s attempts at being in the moment for just “ fun” was great. She writes totally relatable characters that you can’t help but cheer for. The best part is the WHAT?!? Ending lol!
Great story, easy read and I can’t wait for the next book
