Claudia Burgoa has written another wonderful heartfelt story. I loved reading and following Alex and Hannah’s story. Hannah trying to find herself after all the hurt mother did, and Alex who, despite being hurt himself, wants to show her that he’s not who Hannah thinks he is. I love reading Claudia’s books and how she connects her characters from other books together. I look forward to her next book.
Almost Perfect by Claudia Y. Burgoa was a sweet, almost perfect romance. I enjoyed the main characters, Hannah is smart, sassy and was once a rock star. Alex, a once playboy and Olympic Gold medalist. I love a good enemies to lovers, or a friends with benefits to in love romance, however I felt very confused by all the side characters. It was hard for me to fully connect with this storyline.
I really enjoyed the banter and witty convos between Alex and Hannah. Almost Perfect is chopped full of good humor, and drama, an interesting story I enjoyed.
Almost Perfect was a story that had me hooked and dying to know what was going to happen next. It was a little confusing at the beginning for me to follow because I struggled at first to know when we were in the past of Alex and Hannah’s life and when it was in the present but that cleared up about half way through. After that I was on the edge of my seat rooting for these to frenemies to get their acts together and to realize how much they each truly cared about the other one.
This book was steamy and of course filled with some drama. I loved these characters and also love that I get to revisit some of my other favorite characters from previous books.
A definite must read book for sure!

Alex and Hannah have chemistry but Hannah doesn’t do relationships. Will she ever be able to let him in? Can Alex get past the walls?
I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!
From the first page, it drew me in and didn’t let me go.
Alex and Hannah have such strong chemistry and attraction to each other I could feel it through the pages. It was amazing. The steamy scenes were even better. They came together in an explosion that I’m surprised my kindle didn’t catch fire.
Also, Harry Potter references are always a way to get me. I want a cat now, thanks Claudia.
I will highly recommend this read!
Loved this book. Hannah and Alex were great complex characters. Although we really didn’t see that instant connection we could feel a deep connection. The push and pull had you on the edge of your seats and had you yelling for them to open their eyes. The way the characters evolved had you faking in love with them. Seeing characters from previous books was such a great added bonus. Definitely a 5 star review.
Hannah and Alex were everything!!!!! Their love story is different from what I’ve read but it was theirs. They experienced highs and lows and wtf moments like omg how will they survive this or how would this one forgive the other. Hannah was his sisters best friend but what no one knows is that they’ve met before and it was just magical. The way they kept their unorthodox relationship going for so long and hidden was beyond me and I loved it!!!!! Together they were explosive but apart they were miserable without each other. When Alex has to grovel because of his mistake he was the most adorable. And she was just smitten and turns into a pile of goo for him. They were also lol moments and it was just an all around amazing story.
The Spearman family is literally one of my absolute favorite book families of all time. I love them BIG y’all!! I can’t possibly get enough of their journeys to falling in love. I wanna be a Spearman. LOL
I can assure you going into this book that it will take your feelings on a tilt-a-whirl type ride. It will also have you fanning yourself something fierce because Alex and Hannah are hella hot! This book is classified as a frienemies-to-lovers story, but it’s so much more. You could call it a brothers best friend, it’s also about a former rock star with a troubled past, and a sports romance. In some ways it’s a slow burn too, but also a one-night stand to romance. Really this is a one stop shop for romance fans. It has the best banter for days, super sexy scenes(like really freakin hot ) and it’s raw and realistic and believable in the ways in which they respond to all the messes life throws at them. Things that you couldn’t have predicted. This storyline will make you laugh out loud and then cry for these characters you’ve fallen so hard for.
Trust me you will find yourself captivated by Alex Spearman and his attractively alpha tendencies and simultaneous sweetness. His love for his family and “the children.” GAH!! The way this man is with his nieces and nephews, that is the stuff fairytale dreams are built on. His ability to put his playboy ways behind him for Hannah when she’s skittish and needs a gentler touch is heartwarming and precious. Or even letting those he loves think the worst of him, just to protect her. It left me feeling as warm and gooey as a snickerdoodle cookie!
Hannah Hades-Bell is an amazing character. She had been through so much. She’s had some really traumatic things happen to her in the past and she hasn’t always handled it in the best ways. From the first moment she met Alex their chemistry was off the charts. However after the first hookup they rubbed each other the wrong way with unfortunate words. If they weren’t actively rubbing each other the right way, they were fighting. Over the course of a couple of years they had this hate you but I can’t keep my hands off you thing going on.
When yet another devastating blow hits Hannah and she goes on a journey of self healing and self discovery around the world, Alex steps in back at home to help with a couple of things and they use some “ old fashioned” and “ hidden text within” means of communication to keep in touch during this time. It brings an in-depth and totally refreshing new way of them getting to know each other in new ways. It was so beautiful and intimate and just touching. I loved this so much!
Hannah has so many cool things going for her, but she was being dragged down by her past. I wished for so much of the book she could see herself as Alex saw her. But then again that’s what made her story so great. We get to read her journey about her growth and discovering what she had in front of her all along.
I love all these characters. Some we had seen before and some new ones. We learned so many new things about Hannah and Alex. Even though we had seen parts of them in previous books, I fell so much more in love with them than I could have ever imagined I would have. Hannah’s boys…I really love that we will obviously been seeing more of the Sinners of Seattle now! I can hardly wait to get those guys stories. Hopefully we will see plenty more of Alex and Hannah in their books as well.
I’m obsessed with Claudia Burgoa’s books. She has this ability to grab you on page one and never let you go until the last word. This book was no different. I.Hung.On.Every.Word!! The level of transformation in these characters was astronomical here. The people they were the day they met and the people they were on the last page of the book were so different. But their journey was phenomenal and I definitely recommend reading this fantastic story!
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book!
My cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up for this book!
-This book is full of anything and everything you could possibly want and more. I love these characters so much. I love my Sassy Hannah and I’ve been a fan of the entire Spearman klan for a while.
-OMG! HOLY HOT BEANS AND FRANKS!! Alex and Hannah were explosive whenever they were near each other. Even when they were “avoiding” contact they were just hot. They had chemistry for days!!
Cliffhanger Warning-No cliffhanger! It wasn’t without hard work and ups and downs to get it. But… #PerfectHappyEnding
Almost Perfect is a story about two broken people who are trying to find their HEA.
He is a former athlete and she’s a former musician. I wish I could say they are perfect for each other, but I can’t. Maybe almost perfect?
I had a mixed feelings about their relationship. Alex was great, he knew what he wanted. But Hannah..she was annoying. Although I didn’t like her, I did enjoy the story. I love Claudia’s writing (the letters were perfect). That’s why I gave this book four stars.
3.5 stars
Almost Perfect by Claudia Burgoa is a standalone frenemies, second chance romance.
Alex Spearman was an Olympic medalist and X-game sensation. He was also the brother of Hannah’s best friend, June. He is sexy, broken, funny, and persistent. I loved the way he supported Hannah and persevered even when things looked bleak. Hannah is beautiful, smart, sassy, but also has issues. She has had bad experiences in relationships that have left scars. the was Alex left after their brief hookup didn’t help matters. Alex and Hannah met by chance in a store, not knowing their connection with June, and had a quick, hot hookup. Their attraction sizzled but there were issues that they were both dealing with, which meant neither one was in a good place for a relationship. This resulted in a very slow burn. Nevertheless, they had a hard time resisting one another. This resulted in a lot of push and pull, and a lot of witty banter.
This was not an easy love story but does end in a HEA. There are many sweet, funny, and touching moments. There are wonderful characters. I loved both of the families’ dynamics, even though they weren’t perfect. I also enjoyed the connection Hannah had with her former bandmates. They were more like family and always supported one another. Overall I enjoyed this book. My only issue was the burn was a little too slow for me, and Hannah was a little too wishy-washy. I also thought the epilogue was a little rushed and wanted more. Other than that, this was a good read that will tug on the heartstrings.

Almost Perfect by Claudia Burgoa was a really good read! Is the story of Alex and Hannah, characters that you have met before if you have read the other books by this Author, but if you dont thats okay because it is a completely standalone.
This is the story of two persons, who are not so sure what its love and if they will find it again, because they have had experience so many bad things! like break ups and more about their career. They meet each other because Alex’s sister is Hannah’s friend. When his sister move to Denver she asked Alex to do some stuff for hannah so she doesnt feel alone, This first time they see each other you can feel they have a great chemistry but with their own demons they denied anything could happen. But when time pass and they start figuring out that maybe something really good can happen they will need to fight their own demons to see if they can have their HEA or not.
If you want to know what happen and what is coming next for the secondary characters of this book, who i need to tell you they look SOO interested and I’m excited to know more about them.
Congratulations Claudia for another amazin story
Almost Perfect was an amazing journey of falling in love. Claudia created a wonderful story that showed how time could help heal and make the heart grow fonder.
Alex being an award winning athlete, was rich and of course, hot! He was looking to hook up, more than date. He was also Hannah’s best friends brother. So when Hannah and Alex did “hook up”, the likelihood of it ending up in disaster was pretty high!
Before it could get that far, they decided to be “just friends”. Would they be able to handle that or would they give in to temptation?
Alex was such an amazing guy! Underneath his playboy exterior was a heart of gold!! Almost Perfect won my heart! I hope we get to see more Sinners of Seattle!
As usual, Claudia Burgoa brings us a story so full of emotions and love and humor that you can’t help but fall in love with it.
Alexander Spearman had everything once upon a time; Olympic Gold Medalist, live-in girlfriend, young, handsome and pretty much living a “perfect” life until that life was almost taken away. Now everything is different. His near death experience made him realize he was missing “something” in his life. And then he met Hannah Hades-Bell who happens to be his sister’s best friend. She’s unlike any woman he’s ever been with. Sure they have chemistry but they also fight like crazy which then leads to hot sexy moments, it’s a vicious cycle, but when things get too intimate between them he cuts and runs. Big mistake. Can he rectify it and convince Hannah to trust him with her heart?
Hannah has experienced a lot in her almost thirty years. Her biological mother and ex-boyfriend did a real number on her to the point that she has lost some of her spark and doesn’t trust men. When she meets and gets involved with Alex, there’s something there that makes her feel again. Her hope vanishes when he walks out on her and her trust is shattered. When he starts trying to win her back will she be able to trust him again?
I love Claudia’s stories because the plots always involve the characters going through some sort of journey that helps them evolve. Hannah goes through some serious life altering events and decides she needs to take some time off to find herself. Her time away from everyone and everything helps her discovery some important things about herself. It’s an emotional and inspiring journey. Her articles were full of insight and humor. Upon her return, important decisions have to be made especially regarding Alex who has been patiently waiting for her. He is so adorable and such an amazing “friend” to her. I love their back and forth, their chemistry and the way they rely on each other. I love how this story intertwines with previous ones. I always love to reconnect with Kaden Hades, who is my favorite of them all.
I’m actually at a loss for where to start with his review because I don’t know if I can properly articulate how much Hannah and Alex emblazoned themselves on my heart and soul.
“Instead of asking her to love me tonight, I kiss her hard.”
Almost Perfect is the most perfect story to lose yourself in. This is a story about finding yourself, being true to yourself and at the end of the day knowing that who you are, what you’ve come through, led you to where you belong, to whom you belong.
“The next time I fall, It’ll be without reservations. Because I know I’ve found my forever person”
Hannah and Alex though through different circumstances have both had to deal with some serious life issues. Both still trying to deal and cope with the hurdles they’ve been handed, both still trying to find their way stumble upon each other at a time when both are still vulnerable. While Hannah has built a solid wall, Alex becomes open; to change, to more, to them. Instead of turning alpha and demanding his girl, he takes the more subtle approach and lets her come to the same conclusion as him. At the end of it all, at the end of the day they are each others forever.
“I want to fall for someone who can embrace my scars, enjoy my rants, and love me as I am.”
I could say this is my favorite book from Claudia Burgoa but lets get real here, I say that a lot with her books. So lets just say I absolutely loved Almost Perfect!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this crossover story with many familiar characters and some new ones to kick off a new series from one of my favourite authors.
“Of all my Groundhog Day traditions, he’s the one I want to avoid this year.”
Alex Spearman and Hannah Hades-Bell have a secret history – hidden from Hannah’s best friend, who is Alex’s sister. Their first meeting was both amazing and painful. Since then, they’ve been caught in an unhealthy cycle of a complicated relationship. A cycle that Hannah is determined to break. However, Alex has other ideas.
“There’s something about his intoxicating kisses that makes everything around me disappear.”
Alex and Hannah were like two magnets – both attracting and repelling. Alex set the tone after their first time together and, in spite of their electric chemistry, Hannah can’t get over it, so she keeps her feelings distant. She also has plenty of baggage that keeps her from opening her heart completely. Alex, bless his heart, is determined to win her forever. I adored his letters, his thoughts, the things he did for Hannah. I felt like there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her, but she was so stuck in her past hurts and her perception of him that she sometimes couldn’t see what was right in front of her eyes.
“I try to keep myself from reaching into her and holding her heart the way I desperately want to.”
This was a fab story as we delve deep into Hannah’s thoughts and musings about life and love, and also Alex’s own journey to try and be the best possible person for Hannah – it wasn’t a smooth path by any means but well worth the beautiful end result.
Alex Spearman – you can hold my heart anytime! <3
So here’s the thing, this doesn’t really fall under the trope of enemies to lovers or friends to lovers because Alex and Hannah are a bit of both so it’s a Frenemies to Lovers Romance which is an interesting concept because there isn’t exactly hate or fondness at the start of the relationship but a combination of both. There was a genuine likeness and irritation towards one another and it was fun to see which side of the coin would win at any given moment.
If you have read some of Claudia’s books you may have met Alex and Hannah before. Alex is a Spearman, and the youngest brother to Jackson (Maybe Later), Jason (Then He Happened), and June (Once Upon A Holiday). Hannah has also had some appearances in family members books, her dad Kaden Hades (My One Regret) and her sister Tess’ story (My One Desire), I have read all of them and enjoy each of them so I was always on the lookout for their book and color me surprised when the two of them got together.
There was sooooo much going on in this story but I want to focus on the one part I absolutely adored, the letter writing. Hannah took off for a year and the only contact Alex had with her was through letters because she wouldn’t give him her phone number, she thought this was going to be a deterrent for him but it was just the opposite and I loved that. Alex wrote her all the time and they shared things that couples would share through the letters, it brought them closer and had her rethinking things.
ALMOST PERFECT is a story of two people not only finding their way to one another but finding themselves as well. I read this story in a day but it may take a couple of afternoons for most to complete it (I was home and was able to just read the day away – a rare occurrence). This is a perfect read for those that enjoy Rom-Coms or stories that do not contain insta-love.
Happy Reading!!!
Two almost perfect people that are perfect for each other. That’s Hannah and Alex. Even though they have their own issues and pasts to deal with, they grow and come to realize that what they have is the real perfect thing. Loved reading this and seeing their growth and transformation. I just listened to the audio and loved every minute of it. I was already a fan of Joe Arden and now I can add CJ Bloom to the list of narrators I love. They bring these characters to life and had me feeling like I was there with them.
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This story is about the last Spearman brother, Alex, who was a Olympic skier until he ended up in a car accident and since then has been pretty bitter about his life. This stars his sisters best friend, Hannah and unknown to everyone these two have been having one night stands for years. However its just sex and its breaking poor Hannah’s heart and she wants to break things off.
However her best friend is getting married and so she has to go to the wedding in Paris and she ends up spending time with Alex there. He really is very attached to Hannah but the way he has treated her for years has ruined anything more than sex happening and he feels that Paris is his shot.
After Paris things change and the whole story totally changes and I absolutely loved that. Alex are separated but in the best possible way. This absolutely changed the entire story for me and I loved this part of the story and really got me to see inside each characters hearts.
Alex and Hannah are both very imperfect characters and they have HUGE ways. They both have very tragic pasts and they really have shaped their lives and they have to start letting the other in to get anything that can be almost perfect.
This book brings two of the authors series together. The Spearman family which the author has written about Alex’s siblings and also a series I have not read at all and that’s about Hannah’s family, Tess, Gage, Kaden and Sadie. Even not reading that series I could easily follow along what had happened in the past. Though you will prob love this story more if you have read both series before.
I loved this book I truly did, the best part were as Hannah and Alex open their hearts to each other and I loved how after that Alex fights for Hannah’s heart and their future. At times I was impatient with Hannah because she has this awesome guy who would do anything for her and she just couldn’t see it. But she finally lets down the walls, it was so awesome and I fell hard for this couple.
So, I was really excited when I saw the sign up for this book. Friends were talking about this author, how much they love her writing. So I thought, let’s do this. New series, complete stand alone, this is your chance to read this new to me author .
I got the arc, but already at 15/20% in, I was simply lost. It feels like these characters were part of books released before? Even further in the book, I simply didn’t get it. I’m sorry.
The writing style is good. Funny, interesting, sexy. Alex is a Saint in my eyes. Hannah was a bit too much for me.
All in all I pushed through the book. It was ok. It would probably have been better, if I had read books by this author before
Lots of feels with this one!
I have been anxiously awaiting Alex and Hannah’s story.
Alex was absolutely swoon worthy! His growth, patients and the things he did for Hannah were inspiring. From his corny pick up lines to his hand written letters.
Now Hannah…I liked that she was strong and independent. What I didn’t like was how she coped with her pain. I just wanted to grab her shoulders and shake her! It took me awhile to really like her. And forgive her for trying to push Alex and everyone way.
Overall Alex and Hannah’s story gave me feels and left me wanting just a bit more..like the Sinners of Seattle.
