ALMOST JAMIE is book 1 of the Jet City Kilt series. One lonely doctor. One sexy guy in a kilt. No, not that Jamie…but almost.Fresh from London, Blair Edwards is Seattle’s newest cancer doctor. She’s been burned by love before, but that isn’t stopping her from looking for the kind of passion she sees in Jamie, the dashing Highland laird of a wildly popular TV series.Austin MacDougall is a charming … series.
Austin MacDougall is a charming cosplaying Seattle millionaire. After a little help from his matchmaker, he’s a reformed geek who looks hot in a kilt. So hot, in fact, that he’s often mistaken for the actor who plays Jamie. But that still hasn’t found him love.
A chance meeting at Jet City Comicon and a twist forces them to play lookalikes for TV’s most popular Scottish Highlander and his lady.
But playing lovers isn’t the same thing as being lovers. Right?
Don’t tell them that.

I liked the book ,but the ending was not good for the reader ,unless you like cliff hangers. Good for her to sell more books because now I’ll have to get Almost Elenor Too. Lol
This was a great read for a fan of a certain other book series/show. I thought their parallel worlds ran well side by side. This book had great relationships, not only between Blair and Austin, but the side characters as well. I loved how well this book was written, I’ve never been to a comicon but I felt like I was at one while reading this book. yes this book ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, and yes there are 3 more books in the series, just be prepared to invest in this series, so far I haven’t been disappointed.
I enjoyed meeting Austin and the rest of the gang in Lazer’s books. In fact, Austin was one of my favorite characters. He’s got such a sweet heart though I wish he wasn’t so down on himself. I think if Ashley was doing her job, he would have more confidence in his inner musings. He’s fun-loving on the outside, just the kind of guy whom regular girls would go for. And it was nice to be able to have a listen to his inner turmoil over Blair.
I liked Blair, the cancer doctor with the analytical mind but the kind heart. Her mind was so fixed and constantly preparing for the next moment that when the next moments surprised her because they involved Austin, it made her more endearing. She had an interesting and a bit naive take on the cosplay experience which made her more human. I loved her inner dialogue about her breakup with Nigel. She was such a lovely person drawn into something she wasn’t prepared for though she truly wanted to be.
I knew this one would have a cliffhanger ending because that’s how the author writes. So it wasn’t a surprise to me. That being said, the ending was rather abrupt and unexpected as though the author had written the entire story and decided to simply break it up into 4 parts, letting the word-count land where it may. It was disappointing.
Also, the obsession with Conor Reid and Sam Roberts was much to over the top. I realize there’s a certain starstruck quality to cosplay, but all of those areas just droned on and made Connor Reid sound absolutely arrogant, which was a complete turn-off.
The other thing that bothered me and really stuck was the remark about the aunt. She seemed like such a nice person, and my heart went out to her over her illness and all she’d been through. But when she was hemming the dress for the cosplay, weekend by said illness, and the narration described her standing from her kneeling position as taking “as much effort as it would for a morbidly obese person,” I felt hurt and insulted. There are so many people in the world, including myself, who work as hard as they can to try to lose weight with little return because of medical difficulties. Honestly, how freaking rude for someone to say something like this. She could have said anything, including something as simple as, “Not fully recovered from her illness, she had a difficult time standing.” But to insult all of the obese people in the world with that one line was incomprehensible.
I usually like this author’s books because they draw me in and make me excited to see what happens next. And I did buy the next book because I want to see what happens between Austin and Blair. But I can’t raise my opinion about this first book in the series because of the problems I mentioned. I hope the next book in the series is better.
When I first started reading it, I thought it was cheesy to tell the story that sounded so much like the series. It was okay being a story about two people at comicon who were attracted.
Loved this story and found it more realistic and fun and wished it was longer. Highly recommend it.
This is when real is better than fiction.
It is rare that I do not finish a book but I did not finish this one. It is one of those books that goes back and forth between the two main characters telling the story from each of their perspectives. I usually don’t mind that, but with this book there was Just too much jumping back and forth. I could not get invested in what happened with them and their relationship. I just didn’t care a bit so I stopped reading it and went on to the next book on my list to read.
Outlander fans may enjoy. I just hate feeling like I only got half the story.
My daughter does CosPlay and ComiCon’s … a neighbor goes and gets the various rare items to resell…. So I had a big laugh and blast and totally enjoyed this story. Have fun in this world with these great characters.
The book is not finished. At least that’s how it felt. It ends just as things are developing between the two. I loved how the time was take to develop the foundation of the relationship. But the nothing. I feel like I wasted my time reading this book.
I loved it but it was very short and the next book is rather expensive in the series for a short novel almost novella
As a huge fan of Gabeldon’s Outlander series, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. My only complaint is the breaking up of the story into multiple books. It reeks of a marketing ploy that is not supported by the actual story. Very disappointing.
Disappointed that you have to buy the next book to continue the story. I prefer books that are complete.
I enjoyed this book BUT did not know there were three others to finish the story. Would have given more stars if story was a complete one.
Love this book!!
Author jumped on the bandwagon of writing about popular series on Netflix which would make it an easy writing. Fun to read, but no desire to continue in the series.
This whole set was good and since I already love our favorite characters——- it was easy to love this set Nice spin
Interesting story but could not stand how it ended. You need to read the next book in order to know what happens.
Super cute book, I really enjoyed reading it.
Austin and Blair meet at a comic con convention while dressed as Jamie and Elinor from a popular tv series. They hit it off and impress the real actors and the fans with their costumes and how much they look like the other couple.
