The “unparalleled romantic adventure”* of Nalini Singh’s New York Times bestselling series continues as a new dawn begins for the Psy-Changeling world… hands: old enemies, new allies, wary loners.
But a century of distrust and suspicion can’t be so easily forgotten, and it threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment. As rival members vie for dominance, chaos and evil gather in the shadows and a kidnapped woman’s cry for help washes up in San Francisco, while the Consortium turns its murderous gaze toward a child who is the embodiment of change, of love, of piercing hope: a child who is both Psy…and changeling.
To find the lost and protect the vulnerable—and to save Trinity—no one can stand alone. This is a time of loyalty across divisions, of bonds woven into the heart and the soul, of heroes known and unknown standing back to back and holding the line. But is an allegiance of honor even possible with traitors lurking in their midst?

I’ve loved the Psy-Changeling series from the very first book and I do have my favorites. I like that I can pick up any of the books and become immersed all over again.
Allegiance of Honor was cleverly done. Ms. Singh has taken threads from fourteen books and woven them together into a story that is sensational and enchanting. It’s heartwarming to read about these characters I have come to love and a little sad at times. I was on the edge of my seat and my emotions where all over the place.
We get to revisit old favorites, go deeper into the BlackSea changelings, learn more about father Xavier (loved how this was done), and get a feel for the hops and dreams of all the different races (Psy, Changeling, Humans, The Forgotten.) We also get answers to many questions.
Allegiance of Honor is the changing of the guard. While one story arc ends a new one is made to move us forward. It was all masterfully done, had my emotions in turmoil, and it’s a roller-coaster ride unlike anything previously seen in this series!
Many interesting things happens in Allegiance of Honor. It’s phenomenal, sweet, and emotional. Fans will not want to miss out.
Rated: 4 Stars
I love everything about Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series, and pretty much anything else she writes too. Her heroes are compelling, with both male and female characters written strongly enough to root for but imperfectly enough to relate to. The humor is sly and relational, plots include political intrigue on multiple sophisticated levels, and of course, eventual HEA’s.
Allegiance of Honor is #15 in the Psy-Changeling series. It’s the end of one story arc and is a wonderful lead into the Trinity story arc. I recommend reading the previous books and novellas in this series first. As well written as this book is, I don’t think I would have enjoyed it if I didn’t already know the characters in the book. Unlike the previous books in the series, this book is not about just one couple’s romance with the underlying story-line continuation that has been throughout the series. In this book we get to revisit some of our favorite couples from the previous books. Couples in SnowDancer, DarkRiver, the Arrows and the E’s. Other characters that we’ve met in previous books in the BlackSea Changlings, the RainFire Leopards, and the Human Alliance appear too. Hence my recommendation to read the previous books first. It’s wonderful seeing all these characters in one book, but I think it would be a little overwhelming and hard to keep track of who’s who if this was the first book read in the series.
This book has multiple story-lines going on at the same time. The Consortium is still out to cause trouble. We learn early on in the book that questions are being asked about little Naya, and since she is the only Psy/Changeling child since Silence she’s not safe without protection. Especially since the Consortium is one of the groups that want her. Meanwhile another BlackSea Changeling has been kidnapped and we get to see how Trinity works with the different races helping to save her. One of my favorite story-lines in the book is Father Xavier’s letters to his beloved Nina and finding out whether or not he will finally find her. Oh and don’t forget the Pupcubs. We get to find out about Mercy’s and Riley’s pupcubs in this book too with a wonderful celebration that brings everyone together. And finally, the last story-line going on alongside these is that the Net is not truly healed yet. Everyone thought that the E’s saved the net, but there is still something wrong, and a rot is happening again or is still there underneath the E’s honeycomb.
I know this sounds complicated with so many storylines in one book, but if you’ve read and loved the previous books in the series, you will follow along just fine and love seeing the continuation of all the characters stories. Honestly, seeing all the different couples in this book, made me want to go re-read some of the previous books. Especially the ones about Lucas and Sasha, Kaleb and Sahara, Mercy and Riley, and Zach and his Annie. As usual, an absolutely wonderful addition to the Psy/Changling series that I highly recommend.
“Heroes, I’ve learned, don’t always wear white. Sometimes they come from the darkness, shadows among shadows.”
This book is completely unlike any other in the series because it doesn’t focus on one couple but all of them. I was a little apprehensive at first thinking this wouldn’t make this feel like a full novel but Singh does an amazing job at weaving all these characters POV’s together into one cohesive story. If you can’t tell, I loved this book and the slices of life we were given for all the characters, especially the couples who haven’t had much page time since their book like Walker and Laura.
While done in sections we still see some great character development. Sasha has come a long way since that first book. We see how she has developed and adapted her abilities, especially when it comes to defense. I loved that we get so many scenes with little Naya. We see her rapid development and know she will be important for the future of the races. Also I loved that Nikita finally meets Naya.
We also finally get to see Father Xavier finally find his Nina. I really enjoyed reading his letters to Nina throughout the book. We get a unique take on Judd and Kaleb before they were in love. I am actually sad that we didn’t get more of his parts because he was such an important side character throughout the series.
This book really brings together all the races and gives a glimpse of what the future of this world will be like. They still have the Consortium to bring down but we can see the beginnings of peace. I am still very curious about a lot of the characters in this series, like Malichai and Teijan, and hope we see them in the Trinity series or they get their own short stories. I just need to know more about some of these characters, especially those from BlackSea. Overall, this was a great book and a great conclusion for the series. I am looking forward to starting the Psy-Changeling Trinity series to see what happens next for this complex world.
Her books are good and better
Loved it. on my must read and my must buy list.
Nalini Singh is a must read!
This, like all of Nalini Singh’s other books, stays on my To-Be-Read pile, as it, like the others, are books I read and re-read often. I love the characters, all of them striving to build a world where they can live as equal contributors while they and their clans stretch and grow and change to become what they dream of being instead of being forced into roles they resent. Nalini Singh’s world-building is amazingly detailed and so believable. I want to live in the San Francisco of her creation and meet Dark River leopards and Snow Dancers wolves and Psy Arrows. Unfortunately, the best that I can do is to re-read this and the other books in this series.
Just a few words to say this is an awesome read thank you so much
Nalini Singh has built an amazing world with her Psi, Changeling, and Human divisions and has given us characters to love from each. I enjoy and look forward to each new book and she never disappoints!
I love Nalini Singh books. Singh takes you to different worlds and makes you believe!! The characters jump off the page. The psy/changeling books are great as is her Archangel series.
I read every book in all the series this author writes. She is imaginative and her worlds are very unique. I’m always anticipating the next book and highly recommend this one but you should start at the beginning of the series.
The world Nalini Singh is quite successful in pulling you into the world of Humans, Psy and Changlings. Once you are pulled in you don’t want to leave. The adventures are so well-written that you cannot put the book down because you have to know what happens to not only the main characters but those on the periphery as well.
Love this series. But please read in order.
Nice wrap up of the Psy/changeling story arc, setting the scene for the start of the Trinity story arc.
I love, love, love this series. Her characters are real. They fight for their families, their survival and a better future for everyone. I relate to their flaws even though I don’t have the same problems, I couldn’t have the same problems. They seem universal. The bad guys can be redeemed. The ice queens have the ability to melt (a little.) The author constantly ties the characters together. Each book is a layer in her world building. Like visiting old friends.
An excellent catch-up novel. Just enough plot moving forward to keep me interested, but the novel was mostly an epilogue for the Psy-Changeling series as it moves on into a new series. Very well done and so sweet how happy our favorite couples are. Loved it!
This book felt like it belonged to all the couples. We got to see moments in each of their lives and I loved every bit of it. I’m such a sucker for those kids! You really do get the sense of family in this book. Wonderful!
I had the opportunity to review an early copy of ALLEGIANCE OF HONOR. I have read past Psy/Changeling books and I’ve enjoyed them, but they’ve never fully enthralled me like the author’s Guild Hunter series has.
I haven’t read the last several books in the series, but the story does have many of my favorite characters, including Lucas, Sascha, Naya and the rest of the DarkRiver Leopards, the Arrows, Hawke and the SnowDancer Wolves, several other changeling packs, and a bunch more characters I’ve just recently met! The book doesn’t center around one hero/heroine but has many interconnecting storylines. It can be difficult to incorporate so many characters into one book but I think Ms. Singh handled it beautifully!
I was lost in some areas and that’s because, as mentioned above, I haven’t read all the previous books (which I definitely recommend doing), but I was able to find my footing without too much confusion. Whether or not I was previously introduced to a character, never affected the powerful words and entertaining scenes in the book.
What I loved most about the book was the romance! So much love and it was entertaining to experience so many happily ever afters in one book! There’s one storyline that pulled at my heartstrings and that was of the human priest Xavier Perez. His struggles with his faith and his feelings for his one true love just…wow. So powerful.
If you love exciting, entertaining, spectacular world building with complex plots, relatable characters and witty dialogue, you’ll find it all in a Nalini Singh novel. I highly recommend this and every book by the author!
***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in 2016 in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***
I did love this book so much ,it was a little harder to get into because there were so many povs ,i mean i think this book had like 12 pov’s and it was like you just get back into a character’s head and then bam here is someone else’s point of view but it was still a enjoyable read and i loved this whole series & i am sad to see that it’s kinda done with this part of the world and we are moving on to what Nalini Singh is calling season 2 in this series ,which i am looking forward to but it’s still kinda sad ! i know we will get to see these characters in future reads they just won’t be the main focus .
This book gives you so many awesome moments ,i loved getting to see how everyone is now that the world everyone knew is over and they all are moving in a new better direction , it was awesome to see Riley & Mercy’s pupcubs ,i loved that whole scene where she gives birth and everyone comes down to see the new members of the family that is DrakRiver & SnowDancer 🙂 it was great !
Also loved all the new Kaleb & Sahara moments ,i wanted more of them 🙁 i didn’t get my fill that’s for sure but still glad we got a little more them .
I also wished that Hawke & Sienna had more of a part in this book but the couple of scenes we got were good 🙂
Loved Lucas and Sascha and Naya scenes ,it was great to see them being a family 🙂 i also enjoyed the scene where Nikita meets Naya ,that was such a great add 🙂
and so many more that i didn’t mention because there is alot going on in this book .
I loved this book ,it had a few flaws but still loved every second of it 🙂 can’t wait to read season 2 !
