What a tear jerker. An emotional rollercoaster. Loved this book so much I read it in 2 days
Graham and Quinn… Their story is ugly, beautiful, soulful, devastating and real. It ripped out my heart, smashed it into a million pieces and then slowly put it together again. It was a very emotional read for me. Perfect ending. Do not hesitate to read this story.
This book is a delicious perfection.
I love the narrating of then and now.
It all makes sense and falls into place at the right time. Really an amazing read.
It was a heart breaking. My heart literally broke in two at the end. I was a sobbing mess and my husband started to worry about me.
But back to the story.
Quinn and Graham met at a really unusual place and time. I liked it. Everytime one bad thing halpens it means that it can lead to new better opportuinities. You don’t see them at that time, but eventually you will learn that everything happens for a reason.
I loved their love and devotion.
I loved their honesty.
But their problems were killing me. I am glad that I cannot relate to them, because I don’t know how you can move from that spot and be even better person at the end.
Their story is heartbreaking but it also shows you that everything is possible if you really want it and be willing to work for it.
I admire Graham. He is so strong and consistant and willing to work for their love. But he doesn’t know how to get to her. She really closed herself off for everybody. She was suffering so bad that you really can’t imagine what she was going through.
It is a tough theme, but also really actual, since many people can relate to it.
Colleen did it again! Freaking loved it!
Beautiful story telling
GoodReads prompts – What did you think of the book?
While reading this book, I didn’t think about it so much as feel it. In my gut that was wrenching and in my heart that was breaking.
As soon as I finished the book, my heart was joyful for Quinn and Graham. They made it through infertility intact albeit a bit scarred.
Then I started thinking about the book.
Now, as I try to compose my review, I’m crying again. For this fictional couple and for myself. I am Quinn. Except I carry a hole in my heart that I try to fill in other ways. And maybe Quinn still has that hole too, but she also has Graham.
I would like to forewarn anyone who has struggled with infertility that this book is hard to read. I cried. A lot. Hell, I’m still crying. But I am so glad that I read this book.
Arrgghh my heart! The tears! Simply beautiful.
ALL YOUR PERFECTS was so, so good. I love that it tackled infertility and followed a marriage from beginning to end to rebuilding. It also made me cry. Damn it, Hoover! *shakes fist*
A favorite author – can never go wrong with Colleen Hoover!
What an amazing book by Colleen Hoover. Somehow she got into my head and wrote about my inner workings. I can so relate to Quinn’s mental anguish. I love the dichotomy of the alternating chapters. The happy relationship just beginning compared to the painful possible death of the same relationship. It was real and heartbreaking and messy and I loved every minute. My favorite Hoover to date.
A good, honest depiction of marriage. Colleen’s writing never feels forced. This book has her characteristic quirkiness hovering above the all-too-real emotions experienced by people in a troubled marriage.
Emotional with a lasting impact.
4.25 stars–ALL YOUR PERFECTS by Colleen Hoover is a stand alone story focusing on Quinn Whitley and Graham Wells.
Told from first person perspective (Quinn) alternating between the present and the past ALL YOUR PERFECTS focuses the building relationship between Quinn and Graham, and the breakdown of their marriage following ten years of romance, love, struggle and loss.
Quinn Whitley and Graham Wells met under unfortunate but auspicious circumstances, circumstances that would have otherwise resulted in heartbreak, pain, humiliation and hurt. Six months later, Quinn and Graham would reconnect on their road to marriage and a happily ever after, but happily ever afters are only for fairy tales as our couple struggle with what was, and what will never be.
ALL YOUR PERFECTS is an emotional, impassioned and realistic look at one couple as they struggle with hope and heartache, promises and impossibilities. Colleen Hoover’s ALL YOUR PERFECTS is not a story about the idealized view of romance reality but of true reality, itself. The characters are flawed and imperfect; the relationship endures too many heartbreaks, and unrealized expectations.
ALL YOUR PERFECTS is a raw and thought-provoking story of second chances that will break your heart, and shatter your soul. Not an easy read ALL YOUR PERFECT is likely to cause a tear or ten, tears that will remain in your heart for a long time, thereafter.
‘If you only shine light on your flaws, all your perfects will dim.’
“Sadness is like a spiderweb. You don’t see it until you’re caught up in it, and then you have to claw at yourself to try to break free.”
I’ve been putting off reviewing this book because I’m not sure I can put to words the feelings I had while reading. This story had so many triggers that caused my heart to bleed out…but it was comforting to read a story I could relate to…one that I could understand exactly how that person felt and what they were going through…to know that it’s ok to be loved for all our perceived imperfections.
I loved this story to the moon and back. It’s become my fav book from this author, and I’d like to thank Colleen Hoover for reminding me “If you only shine light on your flaws, all your perfects will dim.”
Highly recommend!
Our story begins with Quinn and Graham’s first encounter, the one that started them down the road to a relationship, and it is unconventional to say the least. It next transitions to years after their marriage and they’re in trouble.
I didn’t read the synopsis before I started listening to the story and had no idea where it was going. Transitioning from past to present was a stroke of brilliance in getting readers to truly understand Graham and Quinn. We see them in real crisis and then get the next segment where they’re just beginning their romance. The contrast was striking and instead of the author telling us their problems, we experience it from multiple dimensions, all the while wondering how did these two get here. It’s sometimes funny, often heartbreaking and at other times deeply romantic. My emotions were all over the place but always, always rooting for these two to somehow find a way back to each other.
Madeleine Maby delivers a wonderful performance, adeptly capturing the essence of each segment and distinguishing the characters nicely. I loved this story, even when I was hating Graham for some of the decisions he made and frustrated with Quinn for not appreciating this man. If you like your romance dished up with a bit of turmoil and serious, real life issues (I won’t elaborate and destroy your reading experience), then settle back and read this book. Better still, get the audio and truly have a great time. 4.5 stars
I finished All Your Perfects last night and I feel like my heart was put through the ringer with the amount of emotions that hit me at once. I haven’t read many of Colleen Hoover’s books. In fact, this is my fourth book from her, but from the ones I have read this is MY FAVORITE.
This is the type of book you want to sit and devour in one sitting, but it is impossible to do so. I had to take multiple breaks between chapters to compose myself and to breathe deeply. Oh, the constant ups and downs, the crying and laughter, it becomes too much to bear in just one sitting. Colleen’s words and the characters ordeal are so real and powerful that you can’t escape putting yourself in their shoes and feel everything as if it was happening to you or a loved one.
I’m still trying to process EVERYTHING to write a review, but I have to be honest, no words and no amount of time I take to write down this review can convey how MAGNIFICENT, HEARTBREAKING and HEARTWARMING this story was.
Colleen writes the most magnificent characters. Especially the men. They are perfect, but it’s not because they are flawless, but because of those flaws that makes them more real, more human. I fell in love with Graham Wells, even in his darkest. I understood his struggles, his pain and his unconditional, never wavering love. Our heroine Quinn deals with a painful situation that changed her and her life. A pain that me, as a woman, a mother and a wife felt deeply. You will love and hate and love even more these two main characters. The story is presented in intertwined chapters of NOW and THEN. So you’ll be loving and laughing in some parts and crying and screaming NO in others.
I can’t say more, I just can’t do it. This is a story you need to just trust me and dive into it so you can have all the feelings and enjoyed it like I did.
We all have those one click authors, Colleen Hoover happens to be one of mine.
I try to stay away from any information about her books until I actually get to read them though.
I love going in blind, not knowing what to expect of the characters or trying to guess where the story and characters will lead me.
I find the ride is so much more rewarding.
I honestly don’t know how she does it.
All Your Perfects takes you on such a rollercoaster of emotions. She really does enjoy the tears of her readers.
What can I say about this book without giving to much away?
All Your Perfects switches you between Then and Now, sharing the good, the bad and the ugly. You get to see what has lead Quinn and Graham to this point in their life and relationship.
You see how fate had brought them together and how they managed to turn it into a positive.
You see them struggle as all relationships do. Sometimes the plans you had laid out for your life don’t always become a reality. You see how your decisions on how to handle a different path impact your life in ways you never though would.
Sometimes you don’t even realized how something you say to someone can have such an immense impact on them. You may think it’s something so small but you never know what others are going though – I have learned my lesson.
This book should not be missed, it is an absolute must read and a definite 5 stars.
This book is heartbreaking, but it’s perfect. (The title is just right!)
Graham and Quinn meet during one of the worst points of each of their lives. Their connection is immediate, but they part ways soon after meeting. When they reconnect months later, each is in a different place in life. The connection is still there, but dare I say it was even … stronger? More palpable? It just jumped right off the page.
It’s not often that I pick up a book and literally can’t put the thing down until it’s done. That’s what happened with this book. I read the book in a day. Actually, it was more like in 10 hours. I fell in love with the characters, pulled straight into the plot, and was immersed in all of it.
My heart ached for Quinn. I don’t want to spoil this review, so I’m not going to detail her struggles, but I will say that I personally can’t identify with her, but that didn’t make her story any less painful for me to read. I felt her pain as I was reading. I wanted to trade places with her and take all the sadness away because she was so devastated.
Graham is incredible. He’s handsome, but he’s a total nerd, and I loved that about him. His personality is perfection. Hoover nailed it when she created his character. He’s romantic, loyal, silly, and so devoted to Quinn it isn’t even fully. When things are falling apart around him he continues to fight, because his love for her is everything. He got a spot on my list of Top Book Boyfriends of 2018.
I’ve only read a few books that have left me feeling like a changed person, and All Your Perfects is one of them. Colleen has done it yet again, giving readers a story that’s poetic yet heartbreaking, beautiful yet broken, and that will leave them longing for more from her.
All Your Perfects gets the Wordaholic Must Read seal of approval.
Five stars to this book!
This will be a difficult read if you have struggled with infertility, or if you have considered / gone through with divorce. However, this is also one of the most hopeful and uplifting books I have read. Its message is one that everybody needs to be reminded of. All Your Perfects, is my favorite of all of Colleen Hoover’s books that I have read to date.
As always, amazing.
This was an emotional and at times entirely too relatable read, a reminder to not take people for granted.
Quinn and Graham met in unusual circumstances but were drawn to one another, the way the story goes between the past and present emphasises how far their relationship has deteriorated. I loved the characters and how they both reacted to their situation seemed very realistic. When we finally got to the box I was a wreck!
Another incredibly angsty book from Colleen with all the feels
