Christian is always there to rescue her when she needs saving, but for everything that’s right about him, there’s something wrong too. It really doesn’t help when she finds out his twin is everything he’s not.
Or is he?

This was an adorable read with some nice themes. I always love stories with strong heroines that rely on themselves when things get tough.
I liked the plot of the story because it kind of starts out like a survival story. Rachel is experiencing a pile of hardships all at once at the start of the book and she is determined to make things work out without having to resort to asking her father for help. I enjoyed her journey from broke, unemployed, and flying off the edge of a cheating boyfriend to letting herself experience something spontaneous. While I liked the plot and the premise, I didn’t much care for the storytelling. It felt a little choppy to me. Some of the dialogue was a little cringe-worthy and some of the things that happen in the story felt forced or awkward. So the ideas were working for me but the execution not so much.
I didn’t really connect with the main character, Rachel. She felt kind of ditzy to me and she sometimes said or did things that felt off to me. While I didn’t connect with her, I didn’t dislike her either. She simply seemed annoying most of the time. Her bout of bad luck really made me sympathize with her and root for her throughout the story despite not really connecting with her character otherwise. For all of the faults that I had with Rachel’s character, I admired the part of her that was a strong heroine. She took charge of her life when it was falling apart and handled things as they came at her. I liked Lily and the friendship that she and Rachel had. I didn’t like Christian from the get-go and I think that he was written for that purpose exactly. I wish that we could have had more closure with Mark and Cassandra’s characters. They were prominent at the beginning of the story and then we don’t see them again. A chance for Rachel to put them in their place after their betrayal would have been nice to see. Rachel did have a final word with Cassandra, but I think that she needed Mark to see her happy and moving on with her life.
I liked the take on the romance. It was kind of refreshing and unexpected. I don’t really want to give much away but I think that the romantic angle in this book is compelling and different from most romance novels that I have read previously. The initial romance with Christian felt like it came on a little too quickly, but I think that perhaps it was supposed to in the scope of things to come. I’ll leave off right there since I don’t want to spoil anything.
I liked being immersed in the Australian setting in the story. I am an American so I felt that the world-building was great in this. I also liked the small bits of theater life that we get to experience through Rachel and Lily.
Overall, I think that this is a satisfying read with twists and relatable characters that you won’t want to miss! Rachel’s adventures in life and love will keep you entertained and wanting more. I did have some issues with the storytelling and characterizations in this one, but the story still kept my interest and finished on a high note.
I am new to Randi Perrin, but I am in love! All the Wrong Places was an amazing read! I was not able to put it down! The characters were exceptionally written and the story was great! I hate spoilers in a review, but I will tell you that you need this one RIGHT NOW!
