Caroline and I walked out the back door and went into the barn.“What are we going to do?” Caroline asked.“Head out on our own. Saddle Whitey, please.”Caroline’s mouth gaped open. “They’ll find us.”“I know.”Caroline sighed. “What can we do then?”I shook my head. “We can stick together. Always.”Tragedy stole everything from him … except her … Always.”
Tragedy stole everything from him … except her …
Three years ago, an illness orphaned Henry and Caroline Sullivan. The harsh years at the orphanage have forged a strong bond between the pair.
But Henry’s about to age out.
He must choose whether to leave his only family behind in relative safety, or take her with him as he pursues dreams of owning a farm. Henry trusts that God has a plan for him, but little does he know that others have plans for him and his younger sister as well. He will need all his faith to find the right path.
Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.
Note: 50% of my income from this series will go to the World Orphans organization.

Late 19th century setting of ch8ldren who lost parents, orphanage experience, grew in wonderful christian life with a couple who took them into their home. Theyhad many difficulties to overcome, but God blessed them richly. A wonderful story.
Growing up as an orphan was not easy in the early days of our country. (I guess it never is.) This particular orphan seemed a litt6le too precocious and mature to be real, but the book is good and it is inspirational, but not in a heavy handed way.
very encouraging and uplifting!
Feel good read. Love the characters.
I give this book a 3.5 rating. The pro’s are that, unlike some of the “Christian” books I’ve read recently, it truly is a book with scripture aptly applied to lifestyle in many of the characters’ lives. Brother/sister orphans, Caroline and Henry, are left with nothing when their parents die. Once they enter an orphanage, Henry is already strong in his faith and a guiding light to other orphans and his sister. Henry ages-out of the orphanage before Caroline but so impresses the orphanages’ biggest bully that the bully becomes Caroline’s ally when she is left behind.. Other important characters include the couple who finish with Caroline and Henry through the end of the story. This Christian couple set a wonderful example of what Christ believers could and should do. The con’s are that there did not seem to be much depth to the story line. Another way I can explain is that this was not a book I eagerly kept reading to see what was going to happen next.
I love this stories based around hymns.
The consistent belief of characters.
This book inspired me to try to be a better person. It was a truly great read.
I am not good at reviews, but it was more inspirational than I thought it would be.
It was a good read. Good characters with good morals.
I enjoyed this book – good storyline.
Good use of scriptures. Shows need to be able to recall and apply scriptures to life situation.
This book was very inspiring. It was an encouragement to read. Love the use of hymn lyrics throughout.
Beautiful story about family and love.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I felt it was a true story as I read. Henry is the example of a boy who allows God to follow Him through rough circumstances. He also is concerned for other children in the orphanage & works to lead them in God’s path. It is an inspiring story that is beneficial to the soul.
While I enjoyed this book, I felt the writing was too simplistic. Even though the characters faced adversity the plot was also simplistic. Everything worked out too easily. No challenge reading this book..
Good read from a young writer!
Story of orphans getting their happily ever after!
This book was really inspirational I just love to hear stories of Faith, Hope and Love. This is part of this book I enjoyed.
I loved this book. It kept me up to see how the next portion would turn out and influence what happened with the other characters
Great story about a young boy and his sisters life. Their struggles and their faith. Loved this book. Thank you.
