All the Way is a fitting title for Becca and Owen’s story because going all in, taking their relationship to another level, exploring each other’s bodies, and helping Becca let go of her past and live more in the present seem to require both of them to take a chance and not only put their bodies on the line but also their hearts.
The fact that Becca can bring this hockey playboy to his knees and make him reconsider how he views relationships and what he wants out of them, meaning something other than a sexual release not only proves that Becca is stronger and more enticing than she thinks but also that Owen is capable of so much more than he thinks when it comes to what he has to offer women because while Owen definitely knows how to use his body for pleasure, Becca teaches him how to use his heart when it matters most.
What I loved the most about Becca and Owen’s story and their relationship as a whole is that they established a solid foundation as friends before anything romantic began, and while at the onset it was only supposed to be a physical relationship, more of a friends with benefits kind of arrangement, Owen figured out what he’d been missing and worked like heck to prove that he could be the exact man Becca wanted and needed.
I’m a huge sports romance reader, and I have had a great stretch of reads in this category and I would definitely place All the Way with the ones that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed.
4 Poison Apples
5 Stars!
Owen Parrish is living his dream as the star goalie for the Seattle Ice Hawks professional hockey team. The sexy pro athlete has a playboy reputation and is known for being a good time. He’s a hot commodity with the ladies, but doesn’t date, and doesn’t do relationships or complications.
Becca is a 25 yr. old single woman who works in the office at the Ice Hawks arena, and is the assistant to the team owner. She loves her job, and has an amazing group of friends, but hasn’t found the guy who makes her go weak in the knees. She’s been through a dry spell the last few years, and has a rocky past she’s trying to move on from. She’s lonely and ready to put herself out there again, but decides she needs help getting back into the dating scene. She asks her best friend Owen to be her wingman. She trusts him completely, and he’s always been there for her. She figures with her hockey god bestie as a guide she can’t go wrong.
Owen would do just about anything for Becca, but helping her hook up with some guy might be too much to ask. He originally thought he could do it, but that’s before he started really noticing her. How did he not see what’s been in front of him all along. He knows he’s not boyfriend material, but that doesn’t mean he can’t take care of her and be exactly what she needs. He decides to take a more hands on approach, and things quickly begin to change between them. She brings out a protective, tender side he never knew existed, and she begins to open up and gain new confidence. Their chemistry goes from zero to nuclear and soon their arrangement turns into more, and suddenly the King of casual wants to possibly commit, and is feeling things that are new and scary. Will they realize they have something meaningful and special, or will their time together have an expiration date?
All The Way by Kendall Ryan is book #2 in the Hot Jocks series. It’s an all new standalone friends to lovers sports romance that is fantastic! It’s a beautiful, heartwarming love story that will have you swooning hard. Owen Parrish had my heart! This is easily my favorite Kendall Ryan book! I couldn’t get enough of this sweet, playful, sexy man. I can’t wait for Sara & Teddy’s book up next!
What an amazing 5 star story this was. I devoured it in one sitting. The perfect read to keep me awake on a slow night at work.
Becca has been through something that she has a difficult getting over. So she wants Owen, her friend to help her get over it.
It was a funny story but yet an heartfelt one due to the subject. I was hooked from the beginning to the end. They had a lot of chemistry going on. I enjoyed these great characters that made love them. A captivating and addicting story. Bottomline this is a must read.
Rest assured it can be safely read as a standalone. Told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
All the Way was cute, emotional, and funny. I enjoyed Owen and Becca and found them to be a cute couple. I love how Owen is with Becca. He may think he doesn’t know how to act or that he’s not the best guy, but when it comes to Becca he knows what she needs. He comes a long way in this book and becomes a better version of himself. Becca is sweet and a bit shy. Her sad past has caused her to have some hold ups in her life now, but she’s a strong, brave girl who can overcome it. I’m very interested in Teddy’s book after that little blurb; it’s gonna be a good one!
Overall Grade:
I met Kendall Ryan at Book Bonanza this year. To say I was effusive over meeting her is an understatement. Specifically, I jabbered away about this book, All the Way, with her. I had just finished the ARC of Playing for Keeps and had read the first chapter of this newest book in the Hot Jocks series of standalones. I was colored intrigued by Owen, to say the least.
See, in Playing for Keeps, I wasn’t a fan of Owen’s. He represented the prototypical jock: womanizer, too protective of his sister, hyper-focused on his sport, etc. I especially struggled with him because it was clear, in that book, that Becca had “a thing” for Owen, and he seemed blissfully unaware, hopping from woman to woman. Not to mention, I hated that he was too protective of his sister, Elise. I thought he shouldn’t have any say in dating or not dating his best friend, Justin.
But then, Ryan presented the first chapter of All the Way, and I laughed. Like full-on belly laughed at the absurdity of his experience with a drunken Becca. I mean, c’mon…who allows a woman who you’ve seen as only your best friend to touch your “man meat.” And he does it in a way that almost makes him a victim. It’s hilarious, and I told Kendall Ryan at Book Bonanza. She promised me that I was going to love this new romance. That it is one of her favorites, and I’m pretty sure I laughed it off. C’mon….this is Owen. But…she did it. She made me fall in love with him, more than I loved Justin in his book. Even more, she made this book about something bigger than hot hockey players and romance. This is the reason why you need to read All the Way, why it is an important book in the world of romance:
*Ultimately, Kendall Ryan’s new romance is a book about consent. Period. The reason I fell hard for Owen is his maturity in this book. Becca is a victim of sexual abuse. (Yes…trigger warning). It has been years since she has been intimate with a man, and she’s tired of her fear. She enlists Owen’s help in awakening her $exuality again after her trauma. At first, Owen is reticent, but he is suddenly aware of Becca in ways he had never been before. He decides that he wants to guide her through this journey except that they need to try to maintain their friendship. Owen doesn’t engage in relationships. Through all of this, Owen and Becca negotiate. He is careful with his actions, asking for permission at every turn. He checks in with Becca emotionally as they progress through the development of intimacy. It is intentional throughout the entire story, so much so that Owen shows a level of maturity that he failed to show in Playing for Keeps. And I fell for him: for his ability to protect Becca, for his need for her, and for his compassion. The Owen of this book is NOT the Owen of the first one. Remember that.
*It is clear Owen’s growth comes about because Becca is the type of woman who allows him to grow. She provides him with opportunities to be a better person. She challenges him, and she allows herself eventually to fall for him. Instinctually, the friendship between Owen and Becca grants them permission to fall in love. Honestly, this book doesn’t dwell too long on their confusion over their feelings for each other like some books do. Ryan crafts it as such that it’s momentary. Instead, this book tells a story of personal growth, while love blooms.
To me, Kendall Ryan is one of the hardest working writers. It seems as though she releases books once a month. What I find impressive about her, especially after reading All the Way, is the way her books are maturing. Just in the first two books of the Hot Jocks series, her storytelling evolved and offered us a lesson: the reminder that people can be more if it’s expected of them. Owen is more than I ever thought he could be after Playing for Keeps, and reveling in their romance was one of the best parts of my weekend. Read All the Way; share it with your spouse or significant other. This should be required reading.
Owen is the consummate player. Becca, best friends with Owens sister, Elisa, also works for the hockey team and considers herself good friends with Owen too.
Becca had a traumatic experience whiel in college and wants Owen to help her overcome this obstacle. She trusts him completely. Experiments that were supposed to help Becca has her blurring the lines of friendship with Owen and now her heart is on the line.
Can Owen help Becca to get over her past? Will he realize he can do a committed relationship?
Definitely one click this steamy ride to find out.
I received an advanced copy of Kendall Ryan’s All the Way. It’s the second standalone book in the hot jock’s series that is about pro hockey players. I enjoyed the first book in the series so much I couldn’t wait for the second one to come out. Owen was not at all what I was expecting him to be. I enjoyed reading the cautious, thoughtful side of him but after one of the scenes from Justin’s book, I was waiting for some dirty filthy sex scenes and we never got that. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the book and Owen, he just wasn’t what I was expecting and that was a wonderful surprise.
Becca was sexually assaulted when she was in college and since then has been afraid to get close or intimate with a man. It’s been 6 years since the attack and she’s ready to move on, however, she is scared and rightfully so. She took the first step and put herself out there by joining an online dating service and has been on a few dates but when it comes time to get intimate or physical she clams up. She propositions Owen one night to teach her how to relax and be her first sexual experience since the attack 6 years ago. They are best friends and she trusts he won’t hurt her and will stop should she say stop.
Owen and Becca’s chemistry was always there. They’ve always been attracted to each other but didn’t want to ruin their friendship. Watching them connect and fall for each other was the best part of the book. That and the epilogue. You couldn’t help but swoon over Owen so hard after one of the comments he says to Becca (I’m not going to tell you what it was, you’ll know what I’m talking about once you read the book!) It was this moment that I realised why Kendall and the rest of the ARC readers before me who have read the book have swooned hard over own. He is one of a kind, a book boyfriend I personally have never read before.
A definite 5 star read, not Kendall’s best book but that’s because I’m still in love with Justin from Playing for Keeps.
Kendall Ryan hit it out of the park with this one. Owen and Becca are made for each other!! Sexual assault is not easy to incorporate into a story without being too heavy while showing it in a realistic manner. Kendall was able to capture Becca’s emotions and fears while exploring how the right person can help you move forward (and how the right person can make a man ‘grow up’).
I have been looking forward to Owen and Becca’s story since I caught glimpses of them in Playing for Keeps. I knew this story would tug at my heart strings a little more and it absolutely tapped into my feels.
Ms. Ryan captures you from the first page and makes it real hard for you to put your kindle/book down. I devoured this gem in one sitting.
I can not wait for the next installment to this series. This is an ABSOLUTE must read for those who love Kendall Ryan and a good sports romance with lots of feels!
We saw glimpses of Owen Parrish’s greatness in Playing For Keeps, and now that he has his own story, we get the full spectrum.
I am absolutely in love with this guy! He’s somehow both cocky and modest, always humble and kind, and has an easy-going personality you can’t help but be drawn to. He’s extremely charming and so much more than the hockey-playing playboy we thought he was.
Becca is way stronger than she gives herself credit for. But between determination and desire, she’s going to put her past behind her. She has her moments of vulnerability and hesitance, but she also has flashes of boldness and confidence. She’s complex and it’s refreshing to watch her overcome her history.
Kendall Ryan packs plenty of feels into this one but she does a great job of balancing in lots of laughs and steamy moments to make this a great all-around story. I highly recommend grabbing this one.
Kendall Ryan has done it again! I’m loving this series so much! I loved Elise and Justin’s story in book one and was really looking forward to Becca and Owen’s story. We were introduced to both of them in the first book, but got their entire story in All the Way. I loved everything about this book. I really enjoyed reading Becca and Owen’s story.
Becca has gone through something traumatic and is trying to get over her fears when she asks Owen for his help. Knowing that Becca is his sister’s best friend, he wants to keep his distance and keep Becca in the friend zone, but what kind of friend would he be if he didn’t help out?
I don’t want to give anything else away, so all I’m going to say is go read this book! I promise you’ll love it.
5 Stars!
Wow, this book was great! I’m giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
I had a feeling Owen might be my favorite guy from the hockey team, and after reading his love story, I still believe that to be true. I loved his friendship with Becca, and how caring he was with her. I also loved how he preached consent, and didn’t push things farther than she was comfortable with.
Becca was also great. I’m not sure if I preferred her or Elise, because both were entertaining, and easy to relate to. My heart went out to her, and what she dealt with in college. No one should have to experience that. Thankfully she was able to move past that, and reached out for help from Owen, which I commended her on. Owen’s preferences in the bedroom definitely weren’t vanilla, although they weren’t hardcore either, and I appreciated how he waited until Becca was more comfortable to bring them into play.
We saw more of the group of friends, which made me super happy. Plus after seeing the summary of the next book, I can’t wait to get my hands on it. It sounded hot! This was another great addition to this series, and I was so happy to be able to read it.
I really loved Owen in Playing for Keeps so was excited to find out he was getting his own book.
Becca and Owen are best friends but the chemistry between them is electric and off the charts.
All it takes to change the playboy into boyfriend material is the right girl and Becca is the right girl for Owen. She makes him want things that he never wanted before and he gives her strength and confidence.
If you like a sweet romance with no angst this is the one for you as it will have you swooning.
Kendall Ryan has outdone herself with this one. I loved this even more then Playing for Keeps
Kendall Ryan never disappoints, and this book is no different. I loved it!
OMG, Kendall has done it again. Every book of hers that I read, I fall in love more and more with her work and this was no exception. I read this book in one sitting while I was supposed to be working, lol. Don’t tell my boss, lol. Owen and Becca were a great couple. They were perfect for each other. The attraction between them was off the charts. Owen doesn’t do relationships and Becca had suffered a traumatic experience while she was in school so a relationship was the last thing on their mind. Becca has decided that she needed help to get over her past and she asks Owen for help. At first he balks but when he sees her talking to someone else, the alpha man that he is, didn’t like it. This story was wonderfully written. The characters were so good. You feel like you are sitting right there with them and experiencing everything they are. It was a great ride to see them break down the huge walls they have each built around their hearts.
This is one book that I will 1000% recommend to anyone who is looking for a wonderful, emotional and smexy read. In all honesty, I would love to have someone like Owen in my life. He is creeping his way to the top of my favorite book boyfriends list.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Five hot stars for Becca and Owen !!!
I’ve never had enough of Kendall’s books and this book is definitely one of my favorite from her.
What is better than a book with friends to lovers trope (and which is also sister’s best friend trope)?
Nothing.
Because books like this one make your day better !
“All the Way” is sweet and sexy book at the same time and it’s one of the books I’ve read so quickly because of the storyline and great characters.
Becca’s and Owen’s love story is sweet, funny and sexy but also there were the parts which broke my heart.
I was so happy when I finished reading the book because Becca and Owen finally found their HEA, after all, they both been through.
If you’re looking for a funny but also romantic book, this is the one you should read it!
Owen is everything!
With hockey season right around the corner, this was the perfect book to get me even more excited for the season! All the Way, is the second stand alone in the Hot Jocks series where each hero is a pro hockey player. Owen is my favorite so far!
Becca is Owen’s sister’s best friend and therefore has always been off-limits. They have become the best of friends over the years and with Becca’s tragic past she asks Owen for a favor and he just can’t say no.
I loved everything about this friends to lovers story! Owen is cocky, hot, but truly has the best and biggest heart. He’s protective and loyal. He is everything and more; the perfect book boyfriend!
I can’t wait for Teddy and Sara’s story! I have fallen in love with all of the characters in this world and enjoy watching them all interact in each others’ stories.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
All The Way, book two in the Hot Jocks series, is the perfect friends to lovers story. Becca and Owen are a breath of fresh air. This sexy, sweet and heartwarming story of two friends who find so much more than expected in each other had me swooning from chapter one until the very end. Owen is the epitome of alpha and he just melted my heart in the way he took such amazing care of Becca. I truly enjoyed every moment of this story and cannot wait for more!
Becca is a strong, independent woman but she has a terrible past with dating. She asks her hot friend Owen to help her navigate the world of online dating. Owen is a pure alpha hockey player and the king of hookups. He agrees to help Becca, then begins to notice how sexy she looks and little things about her turn him on. Becca and Owen were made for each other. I loved how Owen took care of Becca and how she matched him in almost every way.
We met Owen and Becca in the previous book in this series and I was really looking forward to where this book would go. I absolutely love sports romances, and book 1 in this series was a fantastic read so I was excited to dive into this one. I kept waiting for something big to happen but it didn’t, which slightly surprised me. But other than that, it was a good read.
I liked Becca. She is strong. She isn’t letting her past define her. Owne is your hot stud, hockey player. He is sweet to Becca which is lovely to see. I love how comfortable they are together. And steam!! Hot hot hot. Their chemistry is electric.
I can’t wait to read what is in store for the next couple in this series. Reading the blurb has me so excited for it. Bring it on!
