“Fierce and unrelenting… Stephanie Garber’s Caraval and Sarah J. Maas’s Throne of Glass series.
She will reign.
As princess of the island kingdom Visidia, Amora Montara has spent her entire life training to be High Animancer—the master of souls. The rest of the realm can choose their magic, but for Amora, it’s never been a choice. To secure her place as heir to the throne, she must prove her mastery of the monarchy’s dangerous soul magic.
When her demonstration goes awry, Amora is forced to flee. She strikes a deal with Bastian, a mysterious pirate: he’ll help her prove she’s fit to rule, if she’ll help him reclaim his stolen magic.
But sailing the kingdom holds more wonder—and more peril—than Amora anticipated. A destructive new magic is on the rise, and if Amora is to conquer it, she’ll need to face legendary monsters, cross paths with vengeful mermaids, and deal with a stow-away she never expected… or risk the fate of Visidia and lose the crown forever.
I am the right choice. The only choice. And I will protect my kingdom.

Fierce and unrelenting… Do yourself a favor and get lost in this beautiful book!
I love pirates, but have been let down with a lot of the pirate-type books! However, here is one that totally changed my mind! I’ll also add that the cover is one of my favorites of the year!
Amora was pretty freaking awesome! I easily connected with her and what she was going through and had to face! Then there were the boys! I loved Bastian and Ferrick, especially Bastion, though! And Vataea has my heart! She was vicious and lovable at the same time! The bond between the crew was one that I would want to truly be a part of.
All I want in my life right now is to set sail on Keel Haul—that’s the ship, by the way! The author put a whole unique spin on the pirate life with wonderful and vivid descriptions that had me captivated from one. Now, give me all the bones and all the magic, and I’m seriously excited for book 2!
4.25 stars?? i think this is somewhere between 4 and 4.5 stars for me. not really sure though.
this was so good
didn’t really go into this expecting anything i really only bought the series because i liked the covers but this was SO GOOD?? the characters were so enjoyable and i just love reading fantasy books that are based around the ocean. by the end of the book i definitely was sort of confused about the curse stuff but that’s probably just because i was reading fast. can’t wait to read book 2 and i’m excited to see how amora recovers after *that ending*. also i love bastian so much?? he keeps me reading actually.
This book was a very hyped up book I eventually got it and started it numerous times but I just couldn’t get into it.
One of the best fantasies I’ve read in a while! The magic was enthralling, the world rich, and the characters compelling. I can’t wait to see what Amora and her crew get up to in the second book!
An easygoing read if you like stories on the sea. I unfortunately found the curse and soul magic confusing (though original) and the story suffered from a the whole “I need to get to X place to do X thing” and then just taking forever to do that. Stakes never rose and character development wasn’t there. So, not reading the sequel. But I enjoyed it all the same.
Loved this one and can’t wait to get my hands on the 2nd book!!!
A princess, a cursed pirate, a stow away who can’t seem to get his sea legs, a bad ass mermaid and a magical ship – this one had all the things this sea loving girl craves when it comes to the water.
Princess Amora is set to undergo her test to become High Animancer, the master of souls, to the Kingdom of Visidia. However, nothing goes as planned and she is forced to flee with Bastian, the mysterious cursed pirate.
I love that Amora is excited about taking to the sea even with everything that has happened. She has always head a heart for adventure but her father, the King, has forced her to stay safely secured at home.
A destructive new magic is on the rise and she has planned to help Bastian in conquering it.
Along the way, Amora learns much more about her Kingdom than she bargained for. Many things have been hidden from her.
She and Bastian discover they have much in common. There is much she will have to face or risk losing the crown and Visidia forever.
So I’ve been wanting to read this book for so long now. Mainly because of the hype, but also because of the fantasy aspects. I chose to listen to the book instead of reading it because fantasy books usually seem better when listened to. Well I regret that decision. The narrator wasn’t good at all for this book. Her male voices honestly sucked. They sounded like twelve year old kids! It was BAD! I really expected so much more from this story. It was pretty boring and then when you think it’s going to start getting better, it doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, there are some good and interesting parts, but overall it was such a blah book. ATSAT was pretty much all low points. It all just kind of just pushed on. Not much action or romance or comedy or anything. The story finally started getting better towards the very end and the ending wasn’t even satisfying. I’m not even sure this book should’ve been as long as it was. I’m telling you.. waste of time (to listen to at least). Hopefully book two will be better. Maybe this one would be better if I decide to read it, but I wouldn’t waste a credit on listening to it. Idk, I’m just upset because I had such high hopes for this book. 3ish/5 stars.
An anction packed adventure complete with pirates and all kinds of magic! Bloody and Brilliant a fantasy must read!
All the Stars and Teeth is an exciting novel. Following princess Amora, whose family possesses soul magic, when Amora loses control, she goes on the run with a pirate on a quest to save her kingdom and herself.
It was such an interesting and unique novel filled with various types of magic ranging from transformative, to elemental, to even curse magic and mermaids, giving the story its imagination. However, the quest, the adventure that Amora goes on with the pirate Bastian and betrothed Ferrick.
Careful and Strong Dynamics
The dynamics between these three characters was well done. Ferrick has healing magic and comes from a noble family. He is the gentler of the trio, and yet just as headstrong. Ferrick may just be a side character, but he resonates off the pages and grows throughout the story. His relationship with Amora also grows.
Initially, she despises being engaged to him and thinks of him as weak, but throughout the story, she gets to see him as more and their friendship grows. Thankfully, there is no love triangle in the novel, as Grace focused more on developing these characters and giving them vibrant voices and dynamics.
Amora is the main character, and inner tension and turmoil reflect her growth as a character. Amora believes so strongly in doing what is right for her people, but that does not mean she does not live for herself. She has many fears of not being good enough or powerful enough to lead her kingdom. However, throughout her journey, uncovering her father’s neglect and her ancestor’s secrets, Amora’s attitude changes, and her relationships with Ferrick and Bastian grow.
The characters balance each other out perfectly, helping each other become stronger through the obstacles they face. They bond and become quite the team. Furthermore, the addition of the Mermaid, oh, that was brilliant and well done.
Compelling Story
The story is what grabs the readers’ attention above the rich and well-developed characterization and dynamics. The world here is well structured. The islands make up the kingdom, each one the home to one magic. Taking on that specific magic means that they must live on the island that practices it. It is interesting to see how the magic is interpreted in the story, especially soul magic, and curse magic.
Soul magic is derived from blood and bones, allowing Amora and her family to see the soul of an individual. It has much history to it that is explored throughout the story, giving the reader a complex and in-depth view of how the magic works in this world.
The curse magic, while interesting, the details of how it works needed to be a little clearer. Near the end, the mechanics become a little fuddled and confusing, especially with the revelations of the past and the secrets Amora discovers about her kingdom and her ancestors.
Final Thoughts
All the Stars and Teeth is a thoroughly entertaining novel. It has strong character dynamics and takes magic into unique territory, making the story thrilling and entertaining from beginning to end.
An exciting and interesting adventure to save a kingdom from a fate she never saw coming. The princess, armed with her soul magic teams up with a pirate, the fiancé she does not want and a magical ship in a race against time, countless enemies and even her father. The world she thought she knew is not reality and the father she adored has kept more than a few things from her. Determined to win at all costs the Princess may just sacrifice it all.
All the Stars and Teeth is the first book in a new serie by Adalyn Grace. I really loved it and can’t wait for the sequel.
Amora Montara is the princess of the island kingdom Visidia and spent her life training to be the High Animancer, the master of souls. All the other people can chose the king of magic they want to do but not Amora. If she want to be the next Queen she need to master her magic and prove herself. The magic of soul is a dangerous magic.
The day of her demonstration will go wrong and the princess will be force to flee her island. She will set on a journey with a pirate, Bastian. He will help her to prove she’s worthy to rule but in exchange he need her help to get is magic back that was stolen from him.
A new dangerous magic is on the rise. The journey gonna be perious. A great fantasy book with legendary monsters, pirates and mermaids.
ALL THE STARS AND TEETH is the debut novel by author Adalyn Grace. She takes us to the island kingdom of Visidia, where one family practices the dangerous “soul magic”, and rules over the other islands—each segregated by the type of magic their population practices. It is illegal to practice more than one magic, punishable by death.
Princess Amora Montana, the headstrong, only child of the reigning King, is set to prove her mastery of the soul magic to the kingdoms, so that she may someday rule in her father’s place.
“I am the right choice. The only choice. And I will protect my Kingdom.”
However, Amora has never been allowed to make her own decisions–or even leave her island–and her own doubts lead to a disastrously brutal presentation. With some demanding her own death, she is compelled to join forces with a pirate, and flee her island in the hopes of finding out what is happening on the other islands her father rules.
Things that have been kept secret from her.
“. . . even our idols–even those we want to love and trust more than anything–can let us down . . . ”
Grace constructs a crew of characters with completely different personalities, creating some welcome comic relief at the same time. The Princess, pirate, stowaway, and a mermaid, all there for reasons of their own.
“. . . Pardon my ignorance. I’ve no idea how I overlooked the gushing chemistry between you two.”
The world building was very well done and detailed. We get a large variety of characters, livelihoods, mindsets, and magical abilities. Additionally, some mythological creatures to heighten the danger and intrigue.
“I’ve a collection of men I want to repay for how generous they were to me . . . Dismemberment for anyone who’s ever tried to touch me. The tongue flayed from those with wicked mouths. And the hearts eaten from any man who’s ever told me to smile.”
This debut novel takes the reader to locations of epic proportions. The various forms of magic practiced on each island lends a large hand in making many of the scenes quite memorable.
“. . . The world doesn’t work with only your eyes . . . There’s truth in more than what you can see.”
I was very impressed with my first taste of this author’s work. My only complaint was that one main character seemed “different” in the end, where it made me feel that the entire personality had shifted in a way that simply didn’t make sense. However, as there will be another book in this series, I hope to see that portion rectified. A solid debut from a new-to-me author.
Recommended.
This book was simply intoxicating! This is one of those books that you want to read again immediately after you finish it because the story comes so alive in you.
This is such a richly imagined world. I was mesmerized by all of the different magics within this world and the islands on the map where they originated. I loved all of the distinctive world-building related to the different islands and magics. I also liked the ocean and ships. I felt like I was truly a part of this world while reading this. It was very atmospheric.
The plot of this story was expertly crafted. There was so much that went into the story. The plot is intriguing and suspenseful. The story also flows perfectly. I also very much enjoyed the author’s writing style. It was very easy to fall into the story.
I really loved this ragtag group of characters. They go on quite an adventure and going on it with them is invigorating. These characters really did give me so many feels. I liked that I was able to connect well with the characters and root for them throughout the story. I loved the dynamic that they had as a group and individually with one another. I loved Amora’s strength and she has some nice character growth. Bastian also had some great character growth.
I enjoyed the romance between Amora and Bastian. They both leaned on each other and saw the best pieces of the other. They had an easy way with each other that really stood out. And, of course, I loved the steamy kisses!
Overall, this book was dark, vibrant, vicious, and utterly addicting! This is a world that devoured my thoughts long after I finished reading. This was such an impressive debut and I can’t wait for book two!
