Like the spellbinding psychological suspense in The Girl on the Train and Luckiest Girl Alive, Megan Miranda’s novel is a nail-biting, breathtaking story about the disappearances of two young women—a decade apart—told in reverse.
It’s been ten years since Nicolette Farrell left her rural hometown after her best friend, Corinne, disappeared from Cooley Ridge without a trace. Back again to tie up loose ends and care for her ailing father, Nic is soon plunged into a shocking drama that reawakens Corinne’s case and breaks open old wounds long since stitched.
The decade-old investigation focused on Nic, her brother Daniel, boyfriend Tyler, and Corinne’s boyfriend Jackson. Since then, only Nic has left Cooley Ridge. Daniel and his wife, Laura, are expecting a baby; Jackson works at the town bar; and Tyler is dating Annaleise Carter, Nic’s younger neighbor and the group’s alibi the night Corinne disappeared. Then, within days of Nic’s return, Annaleise goes missing.
Told backwards—Day 15 to Day 1—from the time Annaleise goes missing, Nic works to unravel the truth about her younger neighbor’s disappearance, revealing shocking truths about her friends, her family, and what really happened to Corinne that night ten years ago.
Like nothing you’ve ever read before, All the Missing Girls delivers in all the right ways. With twists and turns that lead down dark alleys and dead ends, you may think you’re walking a familiar path, but then Megan Miranda turns it all upside down and inside out and leaves us wondering just how far we would be willing to go to protect those we love.

Great read a little confusing to follow tho
So with this book it was told backwards, and I have to say it was very hard to get into a rhythm. But once you kept reminding yourself that at each chapter it was the day before you started to appreciate how you were being brought into the know. Over all good book and I enjoyed the ending. It was a great plot twist.
Didn’t care for it. Was written backwards in time. Started at the end and worked backwards. I. E. Day 12, Day 11, Day 10.
Wonderful romantic suspense that is written in a unique style. I never saw the ending coming.
Different take on a “who dunit” book
One of the best books I’ve ever read!
All The Missing Girls was slow to unfold for me but was a good read with disappointing ending. Many times I was waiting for something more exciting to happen. It may have been the way it was written
This book has a good plot, but is confusing by flashing back one day, then another day, on and on. Read about half and trashed it.
I really enjoyed this book. The way is was told, in a backwards then forwards, then back again, was s little confusing, bu then it when the main character explained why she was telling the story in that manner, it all made sense.
It was tantalizing that the story unfolded backwards. It kept me glued to the page right up to the satisfying end.
This book was a little of a struggle as an audiobook. I enjoyed the basic story, the mystery involved, but it was difficult to follow a storyline that went in reverse. I imagine it would flow better if I was reading the book because I could stop and read sections again.
The mystery and how things are resolved keeps you guessing. So, the author does a great job of keeping you guessing and going back and forth about what happened to the missing girls and/or who could be the guilty person/people.
I would give this author another chance…but I would definitely read a copy of the book instead of listening to an audiobook.
I enjoyed the backward story telling. It was a page turner. Did not like being tricked by an unreliable narrator divulged with a disappointing ending,
It was a very suspenseful, the plot had me guessing until the end
Loved it! Lots of twists and turns kept me reading.
In a small town where everyone knows everyone else, can someone really get away with murder? Miranda has an interesting story, filled with deception and mystery. What you think that you know can be changed in a heartbeat, leaving readers with a sense of intrigue and a need to finish the story to its end. A story told backwards from the disappearance of another girl is quite an unorthodox way to share a story, but Miranda nails it.
Nicolette has been away from her hometown for ten years and for good reason too. After the disappearance of her best friend, she didn’t want anything to do with getting caught up in the same gossip and never-ending drama that seems to linger in the air. When her brother calls to inform her of their dad’s condition worsening, she decides that it is finally time to head back. With a fiance and a new life, she knows that should hold her steady through the rough water that she is about to wade into. Upon arrival, the death of her best friend seems to be just as fresh as the day that it happened and it is suffocating. She can’t pretend like it didn’t happen and no one else can do anything, but look for the person responsible. Will this case take away everything that she has built up for the last ten years? Can she uncover what happened to her best friend all those years ago after looking at it again with fresh eyes? Can the murderer be closer to home than she realizes?
Miranda has a beautiful thriller, one with creativity, originality and superb character development. If you are a sucker for a plot twist, this will draw you in and keep you guessing to who the real perpetrator is. Is it family? Is it a friend? Is it a stranger? The pace is great, allowing the reader to capture scenes vividly and without interruption. Since this was an audiobook that was purchased, the flow of the story was relayed very well and the story seems to be well-written in order to flow as well as it does. Ross is virtually impeccable with her audio relay talent. This narrator makes the story come to life, more so than imagery that the readers can come up with through description alone. The only quip that may make the reader feel misled is the title of the book, if they judge a book by its cover. The phrase “all of the missing girls” would entail a vast amount of missing girls, but this wasn’t the case. If you are a reader of thrillers, mysteries, and psychological crime fiction, you may be interested in picking up this book for a read.
A copy of this book was purchased by Turning Another Page. We provide a four-star rating for All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda.
Great read. Easy flow. Check out this author!
The most unlike able protagonist EVER!
I have to admit to being pretty confused most of the way through this book. By the end, I realized what the author was doing in telling the tale so out of order, but it was really hard for me to follow. There were times when I felt like I should have been taking notes so I understood a little more clearly. That being said, I did enjoy the story of it all. There was a definite interesting tale being woven and even in my confused state, I wanted to try to figure it out and find out what exactly was going on. Again, coming to the end of the book made things a lot more clear as to why the story was told in the way that it was. I just wonder if it could have been made a little easier to follow.
There were still things left unanswered at the end, so don’t come into this book wanting everything tied up clearly. There are hints as to what happened, but nothing is out right said to tell us if we’re right or not. I do like where the characters ended up for the most part. I think we could have gotten a bit more closure with Everett and I would have liked to see how Daniel and Laura were doing, but mostly I was happy with Nic and where she ended up.
Couldn’t put this book down. Didn’t see the ending coming. Twists and turns on every page!
I loved this book. Very happy that this year there seems to be a lot of really good books to keep me in suspense!
