Starts off pretty bloody, which almost made me put it down, but within a few chapters I was hooked. Will try a few more by this s author.
3.5/5 stars on this one. Good story, and good characters, but definitely requires you to have read first in the trilogy to understand what is going on. I didn’t, so I spent some time struggling with references to earlier events. Really liked the Cajun feel to this – the descriptions of life & traditions, and creole language really gave it an …
Strange story about a young woman, Fanchon Devereaux, set in and around New Orleans. Fanchon and a friend had lived in New York city and been attacked by a man. Her friend was killed, and Fanchon badly injured. She moves back to the south with friends and together with a local detective try to solve what happened to Fanchon and look into the …
A little bit slow without much of a storyline.
A very unusual story but one that I had to finish. I don’t know if this is a series. I liked it but I am not sure I would follow this series because the character are unlike any that I have met in books or life.
Blah….really disjointed writing and very blah and unbelievable storyline
Cajun ‘accent’ not consistent.
Ok. Not much to recommend, mundane plot, flat characters. Moderately entertaining.
Thoroughly engaging – I did not want to put it down. The characters are developed enough that one becomes emotionally involved. I loved it!
Could not put it down. Lost sleep to keep reading
I wish there were more in the series!
Not a bad book but hard to get into as as a stand alone. Need to read the first book first.
Slow start but once it got going it was very interesting. Wish I had read book one first, before this 2nd book. What a cliff hanger to make you want to now read book 3.
It was ok. I wouldn’t read another by this author
A fun read with a great bit proving man can be scarier than nature. Want to read more.
This book needs a lot of work. The characters just didn’t ring true to me. Even the main character was illusive to me in understanding her. I just was not impressed with the writing, the story or the characters.
A very good story. I bought the rest of the series.
Not my kind of book. Found it to be boring, hard to get very interested in it.
Boring and predictable
I liked that it was set in Louisiana. However, the plot was slow and not very believable. The characters were caricatures of Cajuns and stereotypes.
