Talk about laugh a minute. Dirk Sexton is obnoxious, selfish, and a bit of a douche, he’s also hilarious. When Dirk decides he’s had enough faceless one night stands he turns for advice from a phone sex operator. At roughly the same time he gets a new employee to do a late night talk show. He’s happy with his new employee, Autumn, no chance of getting into a compromising position with her, she’s just not his type (he’s a real Shallow Hal, and Autumn is a little bit too curvy for his liking). Autumn’s twin sister summer, however has the figure of a model, and just the sort of women he likes to have a tryst with, sadly she’s as dull as dishwater, it doesn’t however stop him for trying for more. Funny thing is, he really likes spending time with Autumn. Maybe he’s finally maturing, and beginning to see that looks, really aren’t everything. A fun story, great characters, and wonderful writing. Quite possibly my favourite Andrea Smith read. Narration from husband and wife team Alexander and Gabrielle Candece, and I must say they were perfect. Alexander had Dirk’s quirky thoughts down pat. I loved it.
Wonderful RomCom & Audible Listen A Heartfelt Delight!
All of Me
By: Andrea Smith
Narrated by: Alexander Cendese, Gabrielle Cendese
I loved everything about this book, from Andrea Smith’s wonderful writing style to the storylines and characters she created. I must say it is great to see another side of Andrea Smith, sure she has included and nailed humor in some of her other novels but she takes humor to a whole different level here and it is RomCom at its best and not to be missed. I love how realistic and relatable her characters and storylines are, also love how well she balances humor, lightheartedness with realism of every day life for some. She does this without making light or fun of anything or anyone. I adored, Autumn, she is smart and full of personality. It took me awhile to warm to Dirk Sexton, a typical player, he redeems himself once he gets past his shallow ways. I loved the whole premise of this book, loved how well plotted it is, there is never a dull moment, with plenty of drama, angst, great humor and witty dialogue, some heartfelt moments and a buildup to a wonderful romance. Andrea Smith, thank you for this wonderful story, the laughs and the emotional roller coaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Alexander & Gabrielle Cendese are talented narrators and voice artists. They bring these characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured the emotions of the characters and projected it into their performance. They also did an amazing job with the witty dialogue nailing the humor without missing a beat. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this wonderful listen
Love Andrea’s books and this new addition did not disappoint!
Playboy Dirk and sassy Autumn’s story is a well written story which is a fun, humorous and entertaining read which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend this amazing romance comedy for all readers.
This was a fun read. Autumn was an interesting character with her evening job and her honesty was refreshing. Dirk was a bit annoying at first, being a man-whore and all, but as I got to know him, he became a better man than most. These two were fun to watch, and I had tears when things fell apart. I enjoyed this book very much and recommend it.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
Well this is a prefect story. I really hated Dirk at the beginning with his well practiced smile and wink. Maybe because I was Inside his head or just because of his womanizing ways. Getting his thoughts wasn’t always pleasant but it did let me see his confusion and transformation. I thought there would be no redemption for this man. Shockingly this guy was able to turn my thoughts around. I really really liked him by the end of the story.
Autumn is someone a lot of people can identify with. She portrays herself one way but deep inside she harbors insecure thoughts. She isn’t Barbie Doll perfect but she is smart, sassy and has wit. She has a great personality and I loved getting to know her. I do want to mention that she has a fascination with hermit crabs that was delightful.
I really enjoyed this book. I usually am not a huge fan of billionaires trope. This one didn’t smash it in my face and Dirk just seemed like any other guy. This is a fun, smart and gave me a few chuckles along with some “did that just happen” faces. Andrea Smith does a wonderful job keeping me interested and her stories seem to have a natural flow to them. Well Done!
Autumn was a phone sex worker until she got a new job as a radio show host. Her boss is none other than Dirk Sexton, who starts dating her sister Summer. Autumn ends up being a friend and crushing from afar. She recognizes Dirk’s voice from her time as a phone sex worker and things take a steamy turn when a colleague of Dirk’s show interest in her. Dirk realizes he chose the wrong sister to have a no strings relationship with as Summer bores him. Autumn and Dirk were sizzling together. A steamy, funny story.
Andrea Smith is back & better than ever in her debut BBW romantic comedy.
This is a must read for fans of the genre and Smith.
It’s witty, funny, steamy, and will keep you turning the pages faster and faster.
I highly recommend!
This is by far my favorite romantic comedy of the year!!
Autumn is a 900 phone sec operator who lands her dream job, a radio show hosts. Little does she know she’ll be the “STAR” of the station or catch the attention of her boss, Dirk.
Dirk is a man-wh*re with a “type”. When he hires Autumn because her voice is perfect for what he wants for Midnight Caller, his newest show for the station he hopes that he will be able to stay away from her intimately since she’s the opposite of his type. Never in his life did he expect that she’d be the one to change his life, turn it upside down and make him fall hun love you it’s her.
This book is funny, romantic, steamy and will keep you begging for more. Love, hate, secrets and so much more is involved in their story. Highly recommend!!
This was a great Rom- Com and Andrea kept my interest going through to the end! I laughed a lot and aloud! Autumn was amazing and could keep Dirk on his toes! Dirk was funny and yet vulnerable.I liked seeing his transformation by the end of the story. If you are ready to laugh instead of crying and a few steamy scenes than gives this a read
OMG, have you read this book yet? It made me laugh. Out loud. REALLY LOUD! My poor dog jumped up and ran to another room. All Of Me is a spectacularly fun contemporary romance by Andrea Smith. Ms. Smith has delivered a delightful, well-written book furnished with a zany, lovable cast of characters. This book is written in first person, alternating point of view format, my least favorite, ok, I actually can’t stand it, but I have to admit, it totally worked in this book and I didn’t mind at all. Autumn gets some pretty strange calls at her naughty phone job. When she goes on an interview for a job hosting the Midnight Caller slot at a local radio station, she’s surprised to recognize the station owner’s voice as her shallow manwhore caller from the night before. Dirk can’t hire Autumn fast enough. Dirk and Autumn’s story is packed with humor, drama and sizzle. I loved this book from start to finish and can’t wait for my next book by Andrea Smith. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. Warning: Once you start this book, you won’t want to put it down.
Wow I enjoyed this book. The characters are well developed and engaging with undeniable chemistry between the couple which made for a storyline that kept me turning the pages. The author definitely gave us a storyline I could get caught up into.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loved this book; I went to buy this one after I listened to it. I loved Autumn’s character. Good read and romance.
All of Me by Andrea Smith
Narrated by Alexander and Gabrielle Cendese
Standalone BBW (Big Beautiful Woman) Romcom
4.5 Stars *skip to the Down & Dirty for a quick review*
Beware, my review for All of Me by Andrea Smith gets a little personal. Autumn, the heroine of the story, was SO relatable to me, that this romantic comedy actually hit me in the feels more than it was supposed to.
As a size 18-20, I love reading about a heavier woman who finds love, but I am often disappointed that I can’t relate to the characters as much as I thought I would. But Autumn was my soul sister. As the youngest of three perfect, gorgeous and skinny sisters and a mom who weighs the same 118 that she did at her wedding 61 years ago, I totally got Autumn.
“As much as I preach to myself that I was happy in my own skin, my inner skinny girl was telling me different based on past experience.”
Her fraternal twin sister Summer is like a Barbie doll, and Autumn has ample curves. She may be uncomfortable in her skin, but she is very confidant in her voice. In fact, she has such a great voice, she works as a phone sex operator. When a new radio show is looking for a talk show host, she goes for it.
I know that feeling so well…feeling inferior at something you know you’re good at because of your weight. It’s so rare to find a book that just understands, and All of Me totally did.
When Dirk Sexton, the station owner, hires her, one of her selling points was that he wouldn’t think with his dick about her; Autumn wasn’t the manwhore asshole’s type. When he saw her out to lunch with her sister, he went right for the gorgeous one, Summer, and starts dating her even when he realizes he doesn’t really like her. Ugh, I so get this. Guys I am into would tell me how gorgeous my sister is all the time.
But the more Dirk got to know Autumn…
“I wanted to throw her across my lap and spank the sass right out of her.”
She was sassy! You never feel sorry for her or anything, you just get her. I was listening to All of Me on my way to my final divorce hearing, and it really just got me emotional because I just related so much. Especially when “Tillie” called in to the show.
“Autumn, I just want to say I’ve been where you are ever since I was in grade school. Body shaming by others, including my family was rampant. My own mother had me on every trendy diet ever invented, and it irrevocably damaged my own self-image. Having said that, I think maybe you need to consider the fact that not everyone judges you by your body or your looks. You are so beautiful. Don’t doubt yourself, and don’t doubt those who see the truth. That is all.”
I needed that quote so much that I’m printing it out to keep near me.
By the way, Dirk (despite his name) won me over in the end and got over his shallow, manwhore ways.
Likes:
•One of the most relatable heroines ever.
•Made me laugh and cry.
•I loved how close the sisters were, despite the physical differences.
•Just enough angst to keep it interesting.
•A unique storyline.
Dislikes:
•I didn’t have anything specific story-wise.
•I think the cover needs some work.
The Narration:
The past books I have listened to by Alexander Cendese and especially Gabrielle Cendese I have loved. But I have to be honest here, while I love that Alexander throws himself into the part, I feel he overacted a bit in this performance and it began to get on my nerves. She was great.
The Down & Dirty: All of Me by Andrea Smith was one of the few curvy heroine books where I related to the heroine. Many don’t mention the weight enough, many have heroines that rock their curves with confidence, many have the heroine lose weight. But All of Me had a heroine who understood that her weight played a part in every facet of her life and addressed it head-on. I have an obsession with feeling like I don’t fit in because of my size. I love how All of Me by Andrea Smith made me look beyond that in myself, and see that I am more than just my size. Thank you Andrea for that; I just hope it sticks!
