When love is the prize, the only way to win is to go all in.The Resource Wars may have ended, but for the cyborgs created to fight in them, the battle for acceptance is far from over. Former soldiers Toro and Jaeger have been on the move since they left military service. They’re looking for more than their next payday; they want to find a place to call home.Cynder Armas co-owns the Nova Club with … co-owns the Nova Club with her two cyborg siblings. The club is more than her business; it’s her home— filled with everyone she cares about. Life on The Drift isn’t easy, but it is profitable, and it keeps her too busy to dwell on the losses in her past.
When these three battle-scarred warriors meet, there’s no denying their attraction, but it takes more than a spark to keep a fire burning. To hold onto each other, they’ll have to find a way to let go of their old lives and embrace the future, together.

If you read Double Down, the you’ll recognize our heroine as Kit and Luke’s cyborg sister Cynder. She is an awesome, kick-ass, ex-sniper turned club owner who you just have to admire. I was happy to get to read her story after meeting her during her brother’s book. If you like a woman who is both tough and tender, you’re in the right place.
Toro and Jaeger (also cyborgs and brothers, though not twins) are an interesting pair as they are pretty much total opposites. Getting to see them interact and how close they were almost overshadowed the romance for me in terms of what made this book amazing. You can really tell Mrs. Hayes is going for a sense of family and camaraderie in the making with these books and she’s doing a bang up job!
They’re story isn’t quite so…harrowing as Zura’s and the twins’ was, but there is still action, intrigue, and of course lots of romance and steam. You gotta read it!
Healing happens in its own time…
This is my second read of The Drift series and I’m really enjoying the storyline and the rhythm of these steamy and heart-touching ménage romances. Mix sci-fi, fantasy and a whole lot of lovin’ heat and you have a winning combination.
The Nova Club is owned by human-cyborgs who are carving out their own haven in an often-times intolerant universe. Cynder found her niche running the club and kicking b*tt when she felt the need. Toro and Jaeger were made for her as the gambler and fighter saw in her what they never dreamed for themselves. Until now…
From the most unique, steamy love scene ever, to the baring of their souls to one another, I loved the chemistry that drove their quick, yet well-paced relationship. Cynder was tough yet warm and Toro and Jaeger matched that and more. They were alphas yet sensitive and willing to put in the effort to win her over. They each had problems they struggled with, no one fought a war and came out not losing someone or something. There were hiccups along the way but the honesty between them felt so real and passionate. The feelings that grew between them came from shared experiences and recognizing kindred spirits… In my opinion, this genre is one the hardest to get right, and two books in, this series ‘gets it’…
*I happily reviewed this story
This is one fine story that seriously takes some getting used to it. Jaeger, Toro and Cynder are Cyborgs, created to fight each other during the times of war. It’s been the first book of this Cyborg-theme and i could hardly get into the story. It’s very good written, so that made it a lot easier, but it’s nevertheless a kind of topic I not particularly need a repeat of…
In this book we get to see more of Kit and Luke’s delightful sister Cynder from the first book. She works at the club as hard as she fights in the ring. She meets a fighter that might have the potential to match her when Toro and Jaeger apply to work at the club. They’re immediately impressed with her fighting skills, and she gives them both a chance at the club. They don’t hide that they are interested in her romantically and quickly start to romance her. They hit it off very well and have some adorable and steamy dates.
Cynder has gone through the trauma of having lost her twin sister during the resource wars. She has, up until now, been able to suppress showing physical signs of trauma and PTSD. But her closeness with Toro and Jaeger immediately breaks down this wall, and she is forced to not only face this pain head on, but to also expose her vulnerabilities to all.
A great unique series in a unique world!
