Christmas arrives early when a fateful encounter leads two strangers to unexpected love in this holiday romance from New York Times bestselling author Jessica Clare.Christmas may be coming, but it’s just another day at the ranch as far as Eli Pickett is concerned. Someone has to take care of the herd and that means no holiday vacation for him. But that’s just the way he likes it–it’s not like he … likes it–it’s not like he has a woman to spend time with anyways. Most women don’t want the ranch life, or the surly, silent cowboy that comes with it. Fine with him. He’d rather have the quiet of a roaring fire and the company of his dogs.
Cassandra Horn is trying to make it to her parents’ winter cabin in Wyoming before the blizzard hits. She desperately needs a vacation from the chaos of Manhattan…and her boss’s boyfriend, who is making her life miserable. But Cass never makes it to the cabin.
A raging snowstorm causes her car to crash, where she’s found unconscious by Eli. When Cass wakes, she has no memories of who she is. Eli takes one look at Cass’s big blue eyes and dark curls, and like a Christmas miracle, falls head over heels in love. But while the attraction is mutual, can she give her heart to this cowboy if she’s not sure it’s hers to give?

Not the best idea to have a relationship with someone when you have amnesia. It was just ok book. I usually like the author so here’s hoping it was a one off.
“She was a mixture of sexy and broken all at once”
Cass is pulled unconscious from her car after she wraps it ’round a tree in a blizzard. When she comes to she can’t remember who she is and she’s snowed in on a cattle ranch with ranch animals and the cowboy who rescued her for company.
Christmas Romance Cliché #7 if I’m not mistaken. Jessica Clare gives us two likable characters in an angsty slow-burn romance. I smiled at the appropriate places, said “Awwww” at the ranch animals and tutted at how many rom-com issues could be averted if people would learn to speak. to. each. other. But I had fun doing it.
3.5 Christmas stars. Worth reading. I’ll probably grab the next book next Christmas 🙂
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A COWBOY is Jessica Clare’s first book in the Wyoming Cowboys series. A bump on the head causes Cassandra Horn to lose her memory, but it doesn’t stop the attraction she feels for Eli Pickett, the sexy cowboy who rescued her in a blizzard. Christmas is just another day to Eli, but one look at Cass’s big blue eyes and dark curls, like a Christmas miracle, he falls head over heels in love. Jessica Clare blends together chemistry, banter, and heart into her characters, making ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A COWBOY a fun, delightful romance.
Eli and Cass are a sweet couple and their instant passionate response to each other is a romance junkie’s dream. As closed off and straight-laced as Eli is, Cass is able to bumble her way into his heart with her determination and optimistic nature. It’s fun to see Cass chip away at Eli’s resolve not to put himself out there while catching glimpses of Eli’s soft and nonjudgmental side.
What keeps this from being a truly 5 star read is that most of the book is surface attraction. There’s attempts at a few deep conversations but mostly the reader is left to imagine the in-depth exchanges hinted at by the author. I also wanted a more satisfying conclusion as Cass’s memory begins to come back. But still I feel that for a short holiday read I got most of the feels and a good happy ever after.
Loved it.
Cassandra Horn is one lucky lady. Well, maybe “lucky” isn’t quite the right word to use. It certainly wasn’t a lucky event to smash her rental car into a tree on the way up a snowy Wyoming mountain in a blizzard. But it was lucky that she wasn’t hurt too badly and her wrecked car was spotted and she was rescued by a tall, sexy cowboy. Then again it wasn’t lucky to have no memory of who she is or of the recent past. Maybe the being rescued by the tall, sexy cowboy aced everything so lucky ends up being the best description of things for Cass. Not only is Eli Pickett tall and sexy he is thoughtful and caring too. As for Eli, he might not be thinking of his rescue of Cass as a lucky thing for himself at first, but as time goes on and the snow continues stranding him with Cass on the Price Ranch it sure seems to be one of the best times of his life. The attraction between the two is not to be denied and if Eli could have his way the snow need never stop so he and Cass would stay wrapped up in their own little bubble. But the snow does end and the real world rears its ugly head. What will happen now? I know because I’ve read this story. I’d recommend other readers pick up this book and join me in a very entertaining read.
Jessica Clare tells a sweet, poignant yet sexy Christmas romance tale in All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy. The storyline spins the tale gradually of the heroine Cass and hero Eli finding themselves and falling for each other as they get to know each other better. This seems to be a natural progression into a special relationship which I greatly enjoy. The couple actually gets to know each other, even with Cass’ memory loss. I love the development of these characters. Cass is strong, brave and honest. Eli is caring, patient and honorable. The Christmas prep and celebration is festive and fun to share with Cass and Eli. This is a very entertaing Christmas Romance
3.75 stars–ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A COWBOY by Jessica Clare is a stand alone, contemporary, adult Christmas romance story line focusing on Wyoming rancher Eli Pickett, and PA Cassandra Horn.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Eli and Cass) ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A COWBOY follows the building relationship between Wyoming rancher Eli Pickett, and PA Cassandra Horn. A few days before Christmas Wyoming rancher Eli Pickett, during a raging snowstorm, stumbles upon a single car accident, and the lone occupant of the car is an unconscious woman. With no help in sight, Eli brings the stranger back to the house, and it will soon become obvious that their attraction to one another is immediate and swift. But Cass Horn doesn’t remember what happened, or who she is, including the reasons she went to Wyoming, or her previous life. What ensues is the building relationship between Cass and Eli as the winter storm rages outside, and the potential fall-out as some of Cass’s memories return leaving our heroine with an incomplete look into her previous life.
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS has a little bit of everything including light humor, instant attraction, forced co-habitation, and temporary amnesia. Eli Pickett is a bit of a loner and ‘volunteered’ to remain at the ranch over the Christmas holidays –someone had to feed the chickens, keep track of the herd, and wait on the impending birth of a litter of puppies. Cassandra Horn was desperate to get out of New York but in doing so found herself caught in the middle of a snowstorm with no memories of the who, how or why, memories that will slowly return leaving our heroine conflicted and more confused.
The relationship between Eli and Cass is one of immediate attraction but Eli takes his time under the circumstances. Cassandra’s injuries necessitate a slow building romance but our heroine is the first to make her intentions known. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A COWBOY is a sweet and easy read. The premise is entertaining and engaging; the characters are sassy and flirty; the romance is spirited and tender. There are some questionable situations and events but such is the nature of a fictional story line.
This was my first book by Jessica Clare and it was a good one. I’m a sucker for Christmas stories and a super sucker for books where they hero and heroine are in a situation where they are stranded together with nothing but the heat between them. Therefore, I was a gonner from the beginning of this book.
Clare’s characterization was wonderful. You couldn’t help but love Eli and Cass. The amnesia that Cass suffers after a car crash in a winter storm allows her character to almost start over to decide what she wants out of life. When she enters Eli’s life, she brings sunshine and cheer to a pretty lonely guy. As he struggles to keep his distance from her emotionally, she increases the heat by getting as close to him physically as he will let her. It’s written in the storm that he won’t be able to resist forever. When her real life comes calling, will she return to it or will she stay in the heat of the storm with Eli?
I received a copy of this book via First to Read. All thoughts are my own.
Eli Pickett is left behind to take care of the Ranch in Wyoming that he works on actually it is at his own insistence that he is left behind by the other workers. He is not one to celebrate Christmas because he never really had a reason to celebrate before. He is out hunting down Houdini the cow and discovers a car covered in snow that had wrecked. Inside he finds Cassandra Horn passed out. She was trying to escape her employer’s boyfriend and relax at her parent’s cabin for a Christmas break but had an accident on the way. He gets her to safety but when she wakes up she has no memory left. They spend time together and she slowly figures out who she is and what she wants to do with her life.
Sweet story and I am glad that I read it. It had interesting characters. Eli seemed gruff but he never was ridiculously mean. The writing was good enough that I could not stand the man that Cassie was running from that was pestering her I wanted to take care of him for her.
I received this book to read for free from First to read in exchange for an honest review. The opinions in this review are 100% my own.
