This is A Christmas Miracle for Daisy. It is book #5 in the Taming of the Sheenans series written by Jane Porter. It is Cormac and Whitney’s story; as well as Daisy.
Cormac Sheenan is a media mogul. He had no desire to be a family man, but then his 2 year old God-daughter was orphaned. He adopted her and moved her to California. He becomes a good single father. He is devoted to Daisy and he juggles being a single parent with running his successful enterprises.
A tragedy occurs at Daisy’s school, and he decides it is time to leave Southern California. He moves back home where he feels safer. Small town Marietta, Montana is also where he is going to relocate his company’s headquarters.
Whitney Alder once loved Cormac. She is the creative director at Sheenan Media. Cormac left her heart-broken and she tries to keep her distance from him. She was raised in Montana but doesn’t want to move there because of the painful memories.
Whitney is persuaded and agrees to go to Marietta temporarily. She goes to help prepare the office and spend some quality time with her God-daughter, Daisy.
Whitney starts feeling the attraction between herself and Cormac growing again. She loves Daisy, and enjoys spending time with her, but she starts to wonder if that is worth it in exchange for seeing Cormac every day.
A Christmas Miracle for Daisy is a modern version of a classic holiday film, Miracle of 34th Street. I enjoyed the story immensely and it was a great read for the start of the Christmas season.
A fabulous selection of stories from some great authors
Jane Osborne loves the holiday season, but with what she goes through at the start of Holiday For Hire makes the lights twinkle a little less and the holiday spirit a little more humbug, but if Jane has anything to say about it, she’ll reclaim her favorite time for the year, even if it means hiring a fake boyfriend to attend the wedding of the guy she thought she’d be marrying herself.
I admit…Jane is not one of my favorite Laurelin Paige heroines, but when she’s not getting lost in her head, overthinking everyone else’s words and actions instead of her own, or being an uppity and pretentious upper society woman, there are glimpses of the woman she could be with the right guy, even though if he’s not the one she envisioned in her 35 year plan.
Ian Brooks is a down-to-earth guy who may be rough around the edges but what’s underneath is well worth the effort it takes. His temperament and lifestyle contrast Jane’s in a variety of ways, but where it counts, he proves just how much he has to offer, even if it’s not in the monetary sense.
Holiday For Hire is a fast-paced, sweet read that embodies more than just romantic notions. And while Jane is not necessarily the female version of Scrooge, her views on life, goals, and even societal norms speak to someone who needs a new outlook on life and Ian is way better than the spirits who taught Scrooge to change who he is for the better.
4 Poison Apples
This is a great set of stories! I really enjoyed them all.
