Wow! Wow! Wow! What a Psychological thriller. This book had me hooked from the first chapter and didn’t let go until the last page. It was delightfully creepy in all the best ways. I normally read in bed each night before I go to sleep – this is not a book to do that with (at least not for a wuss like me). There were several twists in the story that I didn’t see coming. One was so huge that I had to stop reading for a bit to absorb the shock. Excellent debut novel by Charly Cox. I can’t wait to read more of her work.
I loved this book! The characters are strong and the story is well developed. I was pleasantly surprised with the wicked twist at the end and thoroughly enjoyed the strong female lead. This is a dynamic debut novel and I’m looking forward to seeing what Charly Cox will come up with next.
This is a real page-turner. Alyssa Wyatt, a homicide detective, investigates a woman’s murder only to find a serial-killer that is not only a horrendous monster, but someone from her past! As her and her partner, Cord, go from clue to clue trying to unravel a tangle of misinformation, the monster gets closer and closer to her own family. Charly Cox certainly doesn’t hold back when it comes to detailing the gritty encounters between the murderer and his victims. This is not a book to read late at night when you’re alone in the house. Cox also makes her character’s warm and human but adding humorous and touching family moments in between the scary parts. Good read.
I came across this book/author on Netgalley and loved the blurb, so thought why not give it a chance? I am so glad I did because I LOVE this book! Of course, I have no triggers when it comes to reading, but if you do than please (as much as it pains me to say) pass.
I will not leave any spoilers because I think the reader deserves to enjoy this journey themselves. I will say the characters are awesome (even the evil ones), there are lots of twists/turns, murder, kidnapping, pretty graphic violence (triggers I mentioned earlier), and a great ending that I did figure out, but some won’t until it’s revealed.
When an author draws out all my emotions than it deserves 5 stars. I am so looking forward to starting the second book (Toy Box) in this series.

Detective Alyssa Wyatt is called to investigate when a woman is found beaten and just barely alive in the mountains.
This is not the first victim … and it won’t be the last.
This serial killer is smart, determined, and never leaves any evidence …
And then the killer turns his eyes on Alyssa and those she loves.
This is the debut of a new crime series featuring a feisty female detective balancing her professional life with her personal life of husband and children. This is well written with lots of action, and great characters. There is a huge twist that I didn’t see coming and it changed everything for the character of Wyatt. I look forward to seeing the next in this series.
Many thanks to the author / Hera Books / Netgalley for the digital copy of this c rime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own .
A serial killer is on the loose and it is up to Detective Alyssa Wyatt and her partner Cord Roberts to find him before he can abduct and kill again. The case starts with a missing woman, Callie McCormick, who is found barely alive. Hope is that she will survive and be able to give the police information about her abductor. The case eventually becomes very personal for Alyssa and her family as she finally realizes that events from her past have come back to haunt her. It seems she might be the target of this madman…why and who could he be? A thrill ride from the beginning to the enormously satisfying conclusion. I really enjoyed the normal family atmosphere portrayed between Alyssa, her husband and children as they deal with her chosen profession. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

This is the first book in a new mystery series featuring Detective Alyssa Wyatt. Alyssa lives with her family in Albuquerque, New Mexico and got into her field of work because of a terrible tragedy in her past.
This was an exciting thriller with Alyssa and her partner, Cord, on the trail of a serial killer targeting women that happen to resemble Alyssa.
One of the missing women is found barely clinging to life and this starts Alyssa, her partner and a select few in the Albuquerque Police Department trying to track this killer before any more women go missing.
I loved the characters in the book Alyssa, her family, her work partner Cord, and the others Alyssa works with.
The action was fast-paced and twisted, the storyline different.
I am already looking forward to book two in the series.
I received this book from Hera Books through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.
