I’ve enjoyed all of the books in this series to varying degrees. This one was, by far, my favourite. The couple are completely different from each other, the way in which they met was very original, and I just so appreciate reading a plot that isn’t like every other book I read. It’s clean it’s well written, and it’s easy to read while maintaining a certain level of maturity. It held my attention and I highly recommend it. Thumbs up!
(I listened to this as an audiobook a couple of years after reading the ebook. I loved it both times!)
Story (4.5 stars)
What a big smile I have on my face as I write this review! I have found myself truly enjoying every one of the books in the Pine Valley series.
I love a romance where we live through the beginning, tentative moments of a relationship and continue to watch two people who are perfect for each other continue on a journey of discovery and love.
Nelson’s physical therapy is hilarious! His attempts to watch his language are so cute! He’s a jock, but as we get to know him, we realize there’s much more depth of character than we originally thought. I love how protective he is of Lindsey.
Lindsey is smart and a career woman, but she’s not hardened. She’s sweet and tender and observant. She’s good for Nelson in subtle ways.
I love their flirtatious texts and banter. I also love that they don’t jump into bed simply because they are so attracted to one another.
Narrator: (5 stars)
Xe Sands has a voice like melted chocolate; deep, rich and addictive. Her dialogues (internal and external) are more expressive than any other narrator I’ve ever listened to: she sighs, groans, hesitates, chuckles, whispers, etc. which makes it feel like you are there rather than being read to by a voice actor.

Lindsey is moving to Pine Valley to work as an attorney to avoid her coworker harrassament. When she meets Nelson, hockey player recovering from a knee injury, they feel an spark. Can they have a future together living so many miles away? sweet love story. the audiobook is great
Lindsey Gerber is big plans to be named a partner in law firm where she works. However, when she realizes that won’t happen without caving to one of the partner’s propositions, she suddenly finds herself starting over in Pine Valley.
Goaltender for the Las Vegas NHL team, Tyler Nelson, is in Pine Valley for rehab and physical therapy after an injury. He’s all too ready to leave and get back to hockey until he meets the first woman who has ever caught his attention.
What follows is a quick forming romance of two professional people who realize that to pursue the relationship means doing so long distance. The question is if it can survive?
I like Nelson and his protective attitude toward Lindsey. And, I like how Lindsey encourages Nelson to be focused on his game. Finally, I like how realistic the characters are and their interactions with each other.
This story is quite a bit steamier than previous books in this series. There’s a lot of kissing and offers for “more.” There’s also more language – suggesting stronger language by partially writing the words.
Romance – steamy PG / heavy kissing and offers for more
Language – PG13 – partially written words and alternatives to those words
Violence – attempted harassment and assault
My rating – 4 stars
Another great book by Heather Moore.
Lindsey Gerber “was firm in having control over one’s happiness.” Resigning from Perkins and Gunner was the best decision she’d ever made. “But now it was time to get back on her feet and redefine her goals.” Tyler Nelson never expected his “pseudo physical therapy holistic-and all-natural wilderness retreat” to lead to the woman who would change his life. After an unfortunate first impression, Nelson is intrigued by the lovely, distracting new lawyer. And this sexy, caring, stubborn, alpha male disrupts Lindsey’s carefully laid plans. Fun and flirty romantic tension fills the pages of this story. Sparks fly when this giant man rushes to her defense. She can’t keep her hands, or her lips, off him. When drama from Lindsey’s past catches up to her, Nelson must reevaluate his priorities.
I really enjoyed the funny “swearing” slip ups, the ice skating lessons, and the dictatorial wellness coach. Moore creates great, unique characters in her stories with flaws and diverse personalities that add interest and often comic relief. The Belltown Six crossover characters were a nice touch. Even though this is a light, refreshingly sweet romance it does deal with the serious issue of sexual harassment. Overall, a happy story full of ice hockey highlights, swoony kisses, and a bit of drama and tension. “Some things fall into place without minute-by-minute planning.”
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are uniquely my own.
