Great book
Thanks for the Christmas present/deal, Lori! A great read, including all of the brothers, the women, and wrapping up all of their stories.
I read this book as a stand alone (and peeked at the blurbs of the first 2). But there was plenty of backstory to fill in what was in the first 2 books.
Mitch had a terrible childhood, neglected by his mother and abused by her boyfriend, Newman. His mother was a drug addict and his father had another family. However, although Elliot Crews, was an absentee father from both families, but came around to check on all his boys. But Mitch’s mother had an abusive boyfriend, Newman, who feed her habit and even though she never gave Mitch much attention, she also refused to let Elliot take him away. He did tell Mitch all about his half brothers, Brodie and Jack and his wife, Rosalyn, hoping some day when he was older that he would seek them out. Although eventually, Mitch left and was living on the streets, Newman forced him to drive for one of his drug deals, and when he was caught and refused to name names, was sentenced to 5 years in prison. He left prison, with PTSA, but also with the skills to keep himself alive and not to trust anyone. His mother died while he was in prison and left him her house, a house where Nelson had stashed his drugs in the walls. What Mitch found in the house, before he sold it to the city for a road project, was a starved mother dog chained in the basement, one dead pup and one barely alive. He took the living pup, named him Brute and traveled around until he built up the courage to find his half brothers in Red Oak Ohio. But the first person that he lays eyes on when he hits town is Charlotte, who was raised by Ros and the boys after her mother died, and she is the first thing that he as ever wanted in his entire life. Charlotte is equally drawn to him. He doesn’t know what to do with his new family, who quickly embrace him, but soon has second thoughts of coming when he learns that Newman is after him and he doesn’t want his family to be collateral damage. But his new family is not about to let him go and teach him what family means.
Great character development, easy banter between them all and a compelling story line, which keeps moving forward. Enough back story provided for those of us reading it as a stand alone. I rad an ARC from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
For over 20 years, Foster has been one of my favorites.
romantic, suspense, contemporary
Haven’t read the others in the series, but this one is great even if a mite long. Still interesting from beginning to end with sleep and life in between, though. Enough other folks have summarized or done a recap, so I’ll just add my praises!
So glad to get to read Charlotte’s story. I have always loved her in the other two books in this series! This book was such a good story of love, family and acceptance. Mitch swoops in to help Charlotte when she is stranded one night..While trying to help Brodie and Jack show up than their mom Ros. While there Mitch did not want it to go down like this but he tells them that he is their brother. Feeling they would react with denial it goes totally different for Mitch! While he is learning family and lusting for Charlotte a dark force from Mitch’s past comes to find him. There are lots of twists and turns that had me holding my breath a couple times. It is so wonderfully written that you are rooting for all the family! It was good to see how they came together to help Mitch and how Mitch finally accepts them as family!
I love a great meeting, and Charlotte and Mitch have the perfect meeting for this couple, what’s better than meeting outside a bar, when the heroine is being picked up by one of the minor villains of the piece? As the story unravels we learn more and more about Mitch and you learn just how much he is truly a knight in tarnished armor. He’s one of those characters you just fall in love with.
Having come to town to meet the two 1/2 brothers he has never had known and meeting their sister by love, if not by blood, and falling for her, Mitch and Charlotte’s story is the perfect finale to this series. I can’t help but fall in love with these two as they fall in love with each other.
As with the rest of the, Mitch’s stepfather, is the perfect piece of nasty to truly make the story flow. He has tormented Mitch for most of his life, and it even made it difficult for Mitch‘s father to see him growing up, and we learn just how difficult as the story unravels.
Seeing how this family comes together was a wonderful and fabulous journey.
All Fired Up is probably going to be my favourite of the Road to Love series, folks. Charlotte Parrish Brodie and Jack’s surrogate baby sister finally gets her story this time around, and, contrary to her plans, she is getting a guy who is a lot like her ‘brothers’. Mitch Crews (you read that right) is in Red Oak, Ohio to find his half-brothers, Brodie and Jack, and then figure out what comes next. But, oops, he slipped and fell for the really attractive blonde outside of Freddie’s who was having car problems. Y’all know how I said Jack and Ronnie had a meet-cute, well, Mitch has a meet-cute. With his brothers who show up to help Charlotte with her car and find a random arsed dude already doing so and it’s not until Ros pops in with a “you look a super familiar” does anybody do some addition. And it’s hilarious enough to elicit a snortle out of yours truly in the line at Starbucks, it won’t be the last time I embarrass myself there. I live there.
We have a full-on family reunion in this book, y’all and you will laugh and cry (I am an emotional hot mess) just like at any family reunion. Brodie, who I’ve just wanted to throw out a dang window of a train most of this series, finally shows himself to be funny and endearing. Don’t know how it happened but there it is. Jack and Ronnie are the comedic duo we fell for in Slow Ride. And Momma Ros is our reigning queen and I pledge unending fealty to that woman. Also, can she adopt me? Rosalyn immediately adopts Mitch into the Crews family and bulldozes through Mitch’s wariness like he’s her blood-get and I love her so much for that. And she’s Team Mitch-Charlotte from the first second. And for Mitch who doesn’t really know what ‘family love’ feels like, it’s all a bit overwhelming. Luckily, Charlotte is always right there for him, supporting him and letting him know “it’s okay to be uncomfortable with all of it, they’re weird, but you’ll get used to them and love them as much as they love you”.
Our baddie du jour for this book actually makes my skin crawl, Newman was Mitch’s mom’s scummy drug-dealer/live-in abusive boyfriend and he’s after Mitch and “what he owes him”. Massive eye roll there. Let’s just let Ronnie have at him, because the guy is positively creepy. And narcissistic. And sinister. And Lori Foster writes this bad guy very well.
Did I mention that Mitch is a Crews through and through? Paws down. He’s rescued a pupper too! He’s a rough beginning and is a tad bit timid, but Howler and Charlotte are all about Brute the pit and helping him open up. And I will sob incoherently into my Ben and Jerry’s dairy-free ice cream over this! Charlotte and Brute’s bond is one of the reasons that Mitch decides that Charlotte is definitely his Forever Girl. Anyways, this book is totally puppy powered. I had to say it.
I want to put some content warnings in here for y’all. (this is covered with a spoiler button on my site) You know those really heart-wrenching ASPCA commercials that you end up crying about for an hour? We have a scene that didn’t make it into the video because it’s a bit graphic. There’s an attempted prison rape. There’s alcoholic content and mention of drugs and there is a bunch of violence (about moderate, nothing too diabolical).
Overall, I’m giving All Fired Up 4 stars and 3 flames. This book was funny and heartwarming. I know this one is probably the last in the series, but I truly wish there was another book to look forward to with the Crews family in it. Now! for the disclaimer! I received an ARC of All Fired Up from Harlequin in exchange for an honest review and I got to participate in my very first Harlequin blog tour. Do y’all know how exciting this was? I squee. But a free book does not influence my opinion or my review or my rating. So this review is all from my mind and heart and completely coffee-fueled. Thank you to Harlequin and to Justine for giving me this opportunity!
This has been a review from Once Upon a Time, I Read a Book (dot-com). If you enjoyed this review and want more of my weirdness, come visit me on my site!
I loved this book. It’s the third in the series The Road to Love but easily read as a stand alone. Charlotte and Mitch have become my favorite couple. Mitch is trying to find himself and his family after a brutal beginning and Charlotte oh Charlotte just made me so happy to see findbher HEA.
Mitch finding his family and Charlotte at the same time was fun to read. It made for a funny suspenseful read.
I highly recommend this book. I received an ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review.
A very solid 5 stars. A little family reunion can scare the best of us but realizing that family will always have your back is an amazing thing. There is just nothing like a big strong man with a great heart meeting a strong woman with one too. Always a great read with Lori Foster.
I’m really enjoying this Road to Love Series, and this book has to be my favorite installment so far. The characters from all of the books have been great, but there was just something so lovable about both main characters, Charlotte and Mitch, in this one!
Watching Charlotte and Mitch get to know one another was wonderful, but my favorite part of this book is the way the Crews family so readily accepted Mitch into their fold. He was so prepared for them to reject him, and it was heartwarming to see them pull him right into the family. His astonishment at this was understandable and cute.
I found both the characters and storyline to be charming. My interest was held throughout the book, and I liked the way all aspects of the storyline played out. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
I thought the last book in Road to Love series was the best, but once again, Lori Foster has outdone herself! Charlotte and Mitch finally got their story with a side of Elliot and Ros. It doesn’t get much better than that! Oh and there’s a couple ounces of suspense thrown in too! You won’t be disappointed with the third installment of this series!!
Lori Foster never disappoints. Another major hit that will make the reader swoon. Charlotte Parrish is the “little sister” of the Crews brothers. Charlotte is sweet, feisty, and can stand toe to toe with her brothers but turns awkward when she meets Mitch Crews. Charlotte is stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire when a couple drunks come up on her. Mitch, who has been watching from the shadows, comes to her rescue. Mitch is an ex-con who has come to town to meet his half brothers. Mitch has lived a tough life but still has a heart of gold and wants to make a better life for himself. Mitch and Charlotte are attracted to each other, but Mitch knows Charlotte is too good for an ex-con like himself. Charlotte never knew she wanted or needed a man like Mitch and finds she can’t resist him. The chemistry between Charlotte and Mitch is blazing HOT! Mitch is flabbergasted when the Crews family welcome him with open arms. Can Mitch stay away from Charlotte like he promised his brothers? Will Mitch be able to protect Charlotte and his family from his past? What happens when the long lost Crews’ father shows up in town? Will Mitch and Charlotte realize they are what the other needs to feel complete? I absolutely loved All Fired Up by Lori Foster. Mitch and Charlotte are amazingly strong characters who compliment each other. I love the Crews family, and how they give each other grief but always have each other’s back. Lori Foster is a MUST read author! I would highly recommend getting All Fired Up and the other books in the Road to Love series. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
I think Mitch and Charlotte’s story is my favorite of the Road to Love series. I probably said that about the first two books also; I just love Lori Foster’s character-building and story development talents. I don’t know how she does it, but one minute you’re reading the opening chapter of a book and the next thing you know, you feel like you’re part of the story. Ms. Foster engages all of your senses and allows you to become a part of the world her characters live in. This story was no exception. Mitch and Charlotte were just perfect for each other. I also enjoyed the family dynamics of the Crews family that Lori Foster weaved into the story so seamlessly. This was a page-turner for me and one I was sorry to have end.
I really enjoy Road to Love series and the strong family ties the Crewe’s have. The family’s good hearted bickering is so funny and realistic of what goes on in a loving family and to see Charlotte find what she didn’t know she was looking for. I really liked Mitch who is a half brother the guys didn’t know anything about and their immediate acceptance of him, even though he’s had a hard life and his past comes back to cause trouble for them, the family has each other’s back. Great story, I received this arc for an honest review.
All Fired Up captured my attention on page 1 and held it until the last page of the book. It contains the ideal mix of romance and suspense. When the suspense became too intense for me, I had to put the book down, only to pick it right back up to find out what happened next. I loved the loyalty expressed by the family members in All Fired Up. I became so engrossed in the story that I felt like I was part of the Crews family. You will laugh, bite your nails, and maybe even shed a tear. Another great book by Lori Foster.
Lori Foster’s characters are always well developed, and Charlotte and Mitch are no exception! Great story, well developed plot, and dynamic characters make this one great read.
“All Fired Up” is the final book in the Road to Love series, however, could also be read as a stand-alone. You do not need to read the rest of the series to understand the story. It was a good book and I would recommend it to family or friends. I received a. ARC of the story from the author and this is my honest review.
I loved this gripping, suspenseful, and slow burn romance from Lori Foster! Mitch Crews is in town to find a place to call home. What he didn’t expect to find was a welcoming family and a feisty, sexy woman named Charlotte Parrish. The sparks flew from the moment he helped her with her car. But he didn’t feel worthy of someone so kind, loyal, and caring. He was overwhelmed by the acceptance and fierce support his brothers and their mom showed him. It felt good after the horrible life he ran from. But Charlotte is his champion and she will do what it takes to make him see what a good man he is. Unfortunately, his past is coming for him, and will destroy anyone he cares about, saving him for last. I didn’t read the first two books in this series but I easily enjoyed this thrilling, heartfelt story. I did fall for the whole Crews family tho and am definitely going back to read the first two books!
Lori Foster has been a long time favorite for me. I was excited to read All Fired Up. Just as I suspected, she does not disappoint!
I loved the drama as soon as the story starts. The way Charlotte and Mitch meet is memorable for sure. Mitch has a rocky past and just came out of a situation that changed him. Now he is ready for a new start. Ready to look ahead instead of over his shoulder. He is mysterious and loving. But when it comes to Charlotte, he is a softy! I love their chemistry and the heat that rolls off these two. I could not get enough.
The past rears its ugly head in and Mitch is tested to the extreme. What happens when the past blurs in with the future. Is Charlotte and the rest of the gang ready to take on the monsters that haunt Mitch. I loved the suspense added to the story. All Fired Up is an amazing story and a new favorite!
