A sizzling new romance about a firefighter who reunites with an old flame and tries to rekindle the passion they once felt. When firefighter Kal Donovan transfers to the Tactical Rescue Team, he’s determined to succeed by giving work one hundred percent of his attention. This proves more difficult at his ten-year high school reunion when he runs into Hannah Clark, his first love. She’s still … love. She’s still the smart, funny, beautiful girl he loved in high school, but everything has changed. She’s divorced, has a son, and has zero interest in exploring an old romance.
Hannah has moved back home after a disastrous end to a marriage that never should have been. Now her only focus is getting her hair salon up and running, and making sure her son is happy. She doesn’t have time for love—especially not with Kal. She intends to look forward, not backward, and Kal is most definitely part of her past.
However as Hannah and Kal start spending time together, Hannah realizes that what she’s feeling for him isn’t nostalgia, but red-hot attraction. Kal’s intent on showing her what it’s like to be cared for, romanced, and consumed with passion—and Hannah loves it. But she wonders if she has the courage to risk her heart again, even as Kal vows not to lose her a second time.

Loved it!! So sad to see this series end but what a great ending it was with Kal & Hannah’s story. Kal & Hannah were high school sweethearts who broke up when Kal left for college & who got together again after seeing each other at their 10 year reunion. We also got to follow up with the rest of the wonderful Donovan family. Hannah is reluctant to get involved with Kal because of a bad marriage & her son Oliver but he wins them both over for them to get their HEA. It’s just an amazing book that you won’t want to put down until you’re done reading it & will also be disappointed when it’s over because you don’t want it to end!! I highly recommend this book & series!!!
4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book! Kal and Hannah’s journey to HEA was chock full of heart, love, passion and emotion. It is a second chance for them as they were once high school sweethearts. Neither of them had any idea how attending their 10 year reunion would change their lives forever in the most wonderful of ways. Kal is rescue worker and is positively swoony. He is selfless and so loving and family oriented. The swoon factor reaches super high levels whenever he interacts with Hannah’s young son Oliver. Watching him fall in love with both Hannah and Oliver is such a joy. So much love there. Unfortunately Hannah is a little jaded by love and the prospect of forever after the failure of her marriage to Oliver’s father, so it isn’t easy for her to give herself over to it. But Kal is a patient man and head over heels for her.
I love their story and the way things turn out for him, Hannah and Oliver and for his brothers as well. Great book!
First of all, I love Jaci Burton and once again this book showed me why. All Consuming by Jaci Burton is the third book in the Brotherhood by Fire Series. We get to see Kal Donovan’s story and how he reconnects with his high school girlfriend, Hannah at their 10-year reunion. You quickly see why Kal and Hannah were great partners in high school and pick up almost right where they left off. The chemistry these two show is evident throughout the book. I stayed up way too late trying to get to the end just so I could see their happily ever after. These books make me want to make sure I raise my boys to be as amazing as the Donovan brothers are. I greatly appreciate the chance to read this as an ARC from the publisher and will look for Jaci’s other series that I haven’t started yet!
All Consuming by Jaci Burton is the 3rd book in her Brotherhood by Fire series. Kal Donovan, our hero, is the third & youngest brother in this series. All three Donovan brothers are very close and are fireman; but Kal transferred to the Tactical Rescue Team, determined to win his teammates trust with his abilities. Kal decides to attend his 10-year high school reunion, and to his surprise, he runs into his high school girlfriend, whom he left behind years ago.
Hannah Clark, has returned home after a divorce, with a young son (Oliver) and living with her mom. Hannah meets up with her friends at the High School reunion and is shocked when she sees Kal, the boy she loved years ago. Hannah is not interested in rekindling their old romance, as she is focused on taking care of Oliver.
Best laid plans usually do not work out, as Kal and Hannah start spending time together, rehashing old memories, with both just being friends. Kal loves being with Hannah and Oliver, and despite their determination to being friends, the chemistry between is red hot, and soon they will act on their feelings, being friends with benefits. Hannah has sworn that she will not allow herself to have her heart broken again, even if Kal decides he wants something more permanent.
In between this romance, it was great to see the many exciting technical rescues that were real or just training. I also loved the relationship with Kal and his family, and how nice Hannah & Oliver fit in. It was great to see both brothers, and their wife/fiancée. Hannah was a wonderful heroine, and you could not help care about her and her son. She allowed herself to fall in love again with Kal, but she was set in her promise that she will not go further.
All Consuming was a sweet second chance steamy romance that was very well written by Jaci Burton. I loved Kal and Hannah, as they made such a great couple, not to mention Oliver, who was great. We did begin to worry, as we rooted hard for their relationship to move to a permanent one. Jaci Burton always writes wonderful romances, and All Consuming was another fabulous story that you should read.
A reconnection of high school sweethearts at their ten-year High school reunion and some personal growth lead to a HEA in Jaci Burton’s newest release, All Consuming.
This is a sweet story about a second-chance romance but this time around, all grown up. The thing about being an adult is there are always some life complications. But, love is patient. And Kal knows that Hannah is worth waiting for this time around.
Trigger warning: recollection and discussion of child homelessness, child abandonment, child abuse, and domestic abuse.
Sexy, sweet and satisfying! With the third and final book in her Brotherhood by Fire series Jaci Burton delivers a poignant second chance on love/reunion story for Kal. We get to see a good bit of Jackson and Rafe to catch up on their happily ever afters with Becks and Carmen and enjoy them all together again. I really enjoyed this series!
Kal is such a satisfying hero. He’s sweet, he’s sexy and he’s got a backstory that makes you want to reach out and hug him. I enjoyed seeing him prosper in his new job and seeing him reconnect with his family is always enriching.
Hannah is a bit of a wayward character. She’s been hurt more than once and doesn’t know what she wants until she opens her eyes and suddenly sees it. She wasn’t my favorite, but I ended up liking her.
I highly recommend this book as well as the series as a whole to anyone who loves a good firefighter romance with a strong supporting family and lots of emotional upheaval from their back stories.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
This is the third book in the series and each is about a different brother, I do feel each can be read as a standalone but then you would miss the back story on how the brothers grew up.
Kal has just joined the Tactical Rescue Team (TRT) and wants to be part of the team, more like family in the way they work together. When he gets an invite to his high school reunion, he wonders if his high school girlfriend will be there. They split when he went off to college but he never forgot her.
Hannah loved Kal in high school, but when he left for college she wasn’t staying in town. She left, got married, and had a kid. Now she is back home and divorced. Seeing Kal at the reunion has stirred up those old feelings. She doesn’t want to jump into another relationship. She wants to make it on her own for a while.
Can Kal make Hannah see that he loves her and wants what is best for her and her son? Will Hannah give Kal a chance to show her that his love is real? Will they get the HEA that started back in high school?
I really like this series and can’t decide which brother I like best. Each one has their own strengths and a woman that will bring them to their knees. This story has all the feels that make it good. It will have you laughing one minute and ready to cry the next. If you are looking for firefighter brothers who love hard and fall in love harder, then this series is for you.
**Wicked Reads Review Team**
Firefighter Kal Donovan has gotten his much coveted transfer to the Tactical Rescue Team, leaving his brothers at Station 16. It’s an adjustment but he’s loving it despite some issues with a couple of teammates. He has even more life changes when he attends his 10-year high school reunion and reconnects with his old girlfriend, Hannah Clark. Despite the years, their old feelings resurface and they begin dating. Hannah is not long divorced and has a 7-year old son, Oliver, so she’s a bit gun shy about being in another relationship.
I liked everything about this story! Kal is the last of the three brothers to find someone with whom to share his life and Hannah was the perfect choice. Her caution was realistic and mature given the disappointments of her marriage and ex-husband. Their romance ended up being special, including Kal’s heartwarming connection with Oliver. Kal’s work issues were also understandable and I like how they played out. Plus, there is significant time spent with characters from the earlier books, particularly Kal’s brothers Rafe and Jackson. It was if their stories were continued here, connecting very nicely with this one.
I’ve enjoyed this series and it ended in a good place with an epilogue that wrapped everything neatly and wonderfully. I loved how it promoted foster care and later adoption of older children and the opportunities to positively change their (and the adopting parents’) lives. So often we hear about the failures so it was uplifting to get a different point of view. The narrator delivered a strong performance, distinguishing characters well and handling the male voices adeptly. I’m glad I chose to listen to this series as it enhanced my reading experience.
(Thanks to Tantor Audio for my complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.)
Good second chance romance. Kal is the youngest of the three firefighter brothers and recently transferred from firefighting to the Tactical Rescue Team at another station. He loves what he does and is determined to give it one hundred percent of his attention. That is especially necessary as two of his new teammates seem determined to find fault with everything he does. After a rough shift, he’s happy to go to his ten-year high school reunion and hang out with some of his friends. Then his high school girlfriend walks in the door, and distraction becomes the name of the game.
After she and Kal broke up, Hannah ended up marrying someone else and moving out of state. After years of a miserable marriage, Hannah and her son returned home. She plans to concentrate on getting her new hair salon set up and focusing on her son Oliver’s needs. The last thing she’s interested in is rekindling her old relationship with Kal. She’s learned that the only person she can depend on is herself.
I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Kal and Hannah. From the moment they saw each other again, the sparks flew. Kal never forgot his feelings for Hannah, and he likes the idea of getting to know her again. Hannah makes it clear she’s not interested but spending a little time together as friends would be okay. Kal is such a sweet, laid-back guy that it doesn’t take long to start breaking down Hannah’s walls. Hannah is wary of getting deeply involved with Kal. She doesn’t trust her judgment any longer, but Kal is hard to resist. I loved how he connected so quickly with Hannah’s son, which warmed her heart and made her very nervous.
I enjoyed seeing Hannah and Kal grow closer the more time they spent together. There were some terrific scenes of ordinary, day-to-day activities that showed how right they were for each other. Kal is fantastic at showing Hannah the love and respect she deserves, but she worries that depending on him opens her up to the possibility of more heartbreak. When Kal’s patience wears a little thin, and he pushes for more, Hannah panics and pushes him away. It takes some deep soul-searching for Hannah to let go of those fears and trust Kal with her heart and Oliver’s. I loved Hannah’s big moment of sharing those fears with Kal and admitting her love. The epilogue was excellent, with a terrific look at the futures of all three couples.
I liked the parts of the book that showed Kal on the job. His love of his work is evident, as is his frustration at his issues with his two coworkers. I wondered how Kal would resolve those problems and loved that he did it by simply doing his job.
Jaci Burton does is again! All consuming is on fire!! Kal and Hannah were high school sweethearts. When they went separate ways 10 years ago, no-one knew a 10 year high school reunion would bring them back together. Hannah is now a mom to 6 year old Oliver and not looking to get back into a relationship as she wants her independence. Kal is now part of a firefighting team in which he has worked hard to be a part of, but feelings were never put out between these too.
I loved watching their love story reignite and the flames of desire were in full force. The best part of Jaci’s series is getting updates on the couples we were previously introduced to in this series! I felt like a part of this amazing Donovan family!
I loved this book’s storyline. I loved the firefighter scenes. I loved the hot & steamy scenes. I loved Hannah’s character. I loved Oliver. I loved Kal’s character. I loved the family scenes. I loved the updates on the others. I loved the ending. Awesome job Ms. Burton.
Kal Donovan, the last of the three firefighter brothers gets his HEA in All Consuming. He’s got the job he wants, and his brothers have already paired off. When he goes to his ten year reunion, he meets up again with his high school sweetheart, Hannah.
Hannah is reluctant to accept Kal’s attentions for some time, a bit shy of relationships after her divorce, but it isn’t long before she slips right into place with the family again. She’s got an adorable seven year old that looks up to Kal as a friend very quickly.
Every thing is perfect, or so it seems, it’s just that not everyone is ready for what Kal is offering.
There is a very low level of conflict in this story. Lots of rekindled passion, steamy moments and overnighters. It was a nice fairy tale of making it all work out with your first love. There are a few tense rescue scenes and some mild conflict at work for Kal, and I wished the story had been more focused on that part of the story, or at least give it equal page time.
If you are in the need for a sweet love story with very mild conflict, you might like this story.
A complementary copy was received. This is my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I read the first two books in this trilogy last year so I was pretty excited to read Kal’s story and it did not disappoint. This is the third book in the Brotherhood by Fire trilogy which I would recommend reading in order if at all possible since the couples from the previous book play roles in this story. I had a great time reading this second chance romance.
Kal and Hannah were high school sweethearts. They broke up when Kal left for college but they both really cared for each other. Kal went on to become a firefighter while Hannah got married and had a child. Hannah’s marriage is over and she is back in town with her son. Both Kal and Hannah decide to go to their high school reunion and quickly find that the spark that they had is still there.
I loved Kal and Hannah and thought that they were perfect for each other. Kal was incredibly patient and willing to take things at Hannah’s pace. I loved the way that he included Oliver, Hannah’s son, in activities as often as possible. Hannah really wanted to rebuild her life and wasn’t sure how a relationship would fit in but she couldn’t seem to resist Kal. I loved the chemistry that they had with each other and I thought that their personalities really just seemed to fit.
I would recommend this book to others. It was really easy to fall for these characters as they fell for each other all over again. I definitely plan to read more of Jaci Burton’s work in the future.
I received a digital review copy of this book from Berkley Publishing Group via NetGalley.

Independent single mom reunites with high school love…
This second chance romance had all the feels as the Donovans were officially back! Kal’s brothers had found love and meeting Hannah again at their high-school reunion seemed like fate. She was single again, with a super cute kid, looking to start over on her terms. Love wasn’t in the plan but than life is always about the unexpected…
Their story was steeped in family and tentative steps. Love was wonderful but what if it didn’t work? Or someone was scared to try? Or an ex was complicating things too much? Or a job was too dangerous? Well, you get the idea. While there were no crazy highs or lows, the problems they faced provided more than enough drama causing the temperature to percolate on simmer. There doesn’t always have to be huge gestures or wild twists to make love good and this even-tempered story showcased that perfectly…
With an epilogue providing the just ending with all the feels, my heart was more than happy…

Jaci Burton is a fairly new-to-me author, but I love reading new authors because you never know when you’ll stumble upon your next new favorite writer. This is the third book in her Brotherhood by Fire series. All of the books are marketed as stand-alone titles. I jumped into this series with this book, and had I not done my research, I never would have known it was a part of a series. There was just enough backstory with Kal’s brothers’ relationships that I wasn’t lost, but it was not a huge information dump, either.
Kal and Hannah were high school sweethearts that broke up when he headed off to college. Ten years later, they reunite at their high school reunion. Life has taken some interesting turns, but their feelings for each other haven’t really gone away. Hannah has significant trust issues, though.
I truly loved Kal’s character. He’s one of the good ones. He loves his job, his family, and is a loyal friend. He’s overcome a lot in his life, but he’s not let that hold him back. He used the lessons learned in the challenging years to push him to be a success. Now, he’s ready for the next steps: house, wife, family. I understood where Hannah was coming from, but after a while, I just got over being sympathetic. Kal was nothing but wonderful to her and always showing how dependable he was and how much he cared. The story arc also fell a little flat for me. Or maybe I’ve just been reading too much romantic suspense lately.
Despite feeling a bit let down with the story arc and my issues with Hannah, this was an entertaining read all in all. I will be adding both of the previous books in the series to my TBR and look forward to more from this author in the future. If you like second-chance romance with an all-around lovable hero, you’ll enjoy this book.
NICUnurse’s Rating: I give All Consuming by Jaci Burton 3.5 out of 5 stars!
3.5 Stars!
I have read quite a few novels by Jaci Burton and all of them are entertaining. All Consuming, is the the third and final book from her Brotherhood by Fire series. Each novel can be read as a standalone.
This is the love story between Hannah Clark and Kal Donovan. Hannah and Kal were high school sweethearts and broke up when Kal left for college. Since they loved each other with all their might, both were truly upset when they broke-up. Now it is ten years later and they reconnect at their high school reunion. Hannah has returned home to start all over again after a terrible marriage. She is now working very hard to make a success of her recently purchased beauty salon, while raising her son Oliver with the help of her lovely mother. Kal is a firefighter and works for the local Tactical Rescue Team. He loves his job and rescuing people has become his calling. Kal and his two brothers lived on the streets until they were adopted into the warm-hearted, Donovan family. Overtime, Hannah and Kal rekindle the love they once shared.
I enjoyed this second chance at love romance. Hannah and Kal were easy to get to know and the secondary characters were very likable. Their sexy times were hot both in and out of the bedroom. Overall, a solid read.
Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
Kal Donovan and Hannah Clark were high school sweethearts, since they were fourteen years old, but he broke up with her before he left for college. He stupidly thought that you didn’t find your soulmate when you were that young and she needed to live life a little first. Thinking he could get her back later, Kal’s surprised when he finds out she is with someone else and ends up marrying him. Flash forward ten years…..their high school reunion. It seems Hannah is back living in town after her divorce with her seven year old son, Oliver. Kal and Hannah spend time together at the reunion and it’s like the past ten years hadn’t happened. Hannah is hesitant because of just coming off of her divorce, but Kal is persistent. Of course the more time these two spend together the more they realize that old feelings are still there. When Kal decides to take things to the next level, Hannah freaks. It will take some soul searching for Hannah to realize that what she really wants is her happy ending with Kal. She gets her perfect happy ending.
Here we are finally at Kal’s book. I have to admit from the first book I liked him. For me, he was the sweetest of the brothers. Just an all-around good guy. One you know will have your back when you need him too.
You get a good idea of Kal since he was in both his brother’s books. In his own book, he comes into his own. He is no longer working with his brothers he’s not at another station. It works for him to be a little independent of them. Most of the time when a character shows up in other books by the time they get to their own you see some growth of said character but with Kal, you don’t really have that because he’s such a great, easy-going guy.
Can you tell I really like him?
Now Hannah is a new character so she’s the one I wanted to know more about. I liked how she stood for her son and did what was best for him. She’s a good mom. I think my only issue with her and it’s a small one is that she is so focused on being independent of everyone that she’s missing out on what could be.
Sometimes we need to stand back for a second and figure out why we can’t see what makes us happy until it hits us upside the head.
It might have taken a while for these two to find each other again but when they did you see how much they still care for each other. Sometimes first love is the only love you’ll have. You’ll also love Hannah’s mom and son. Both are wonderful characters on their own.
This is a wonderful story that is what I’d call a comfort read. It just all worked so well and I enjoyed it so much.
I’ve read the previous two books in the series about Jackson and Rafe and they were pleasant. All Consuming is Kal’s book. This was a second chance romance between high school sweethearts, Kal and Hannah. It’s been ten long years and their reconnection was nice. Kal was very sweet to Hannah and her son Oliver. You can tell from his point of view that she was the one that got away. He wanted to be all in but with Hannah’s past, slow and steady wins the race. It was evident that they had deep feelings for each other so it was interesting to see how their love affair would play out. They were a fine couple and enjoyed their time together. I liked the relationship between the Donovan family with the addition of Becks (Jackson’s fiancee) and Carmen (Rafe’s fiancee). You could tell that the love ran deep. With how the brothers grew up, it was good to see that everything is working out for them. Overall, this was a pleasant story.
This is my first-time reading books by Jaci Burton and this is the 3rd book in the series “Brotherhood By Fire”. I’m behind in this series. Gotta go back and read about Kal’s brothers Rafe and Jackson. This is book is about 2nd chances.
Kal is a fireman and is a part of the Tactical Rescue Team. Firemen have very dangerous jobs; I commend all the great fireman and thanks for all you do.
Hannah is newly divorced and returns to her hometown with her 7-year son and is now living with her mom.
Kal and Hannah were high school sweet hearts. They broke up 10 years ago and with the return of Hannah the romance is still their but Hannah isn’t sure because she has to consider her son and not just herself.
This is a great second chance at romance for the couple and I must say that I love reading about second chance romance. The characters are wonderful, great word building, hot and sexy firemen and easy to read.
To find out whether Kal and Hannah pick up where they left off and their second chance at romance and have HEA pick up your copy.
I received an ARC for my honest opinion from NetGalley.
