There are bad boys and then there are the men of Devil’s Rock . . .Some men come with a built-in warning label. Knox Callaghan is one of them. Danger radiates from every lean, muscled inch of him, and his deep blue eyes seem to see right through to Briar Davis’s most secret fantasies. But there’s one major problem: Briar is a nurse volunteering at the local prison, and Knox is an inmate who … who should be off-limits in every way.
Knox feels it too—a shocking animal magnetism that drives him to risk his own life to protect Briar’s. Paroled at last, he tries to resist her. She’s too innocent, too sweet, and she has no idea what Knox is capable of. But a single touch can lead to a kiss—and a taste . . . until the only crime is denying what feels so right . . .

If you’re looking to start a new series, and love something unexpected, Sophie Jordan delivers that and so much more in her Devil’s Rock series. ALL CHAINED UP is gritty, sexy, and intense.
It Was Ok
I enjoyed this book in the beginning. Briar’s trepidation about volunteering at the prison and the inexplicable connection she felt with Knox was exciting. However, once they were free to explore their mutual attraction, it was all about sex. There were other aspects of the story mentioned, like their families and backgrounds, but to a lesser degree. The frequent and graphic sex scenes limited the romantic quality in this story.
An excellent beginning to Ms. Jordan’s outstanding Devil’s Rock series!
The synopsis drew me in for this one. I thought it was going to be like the TV series Prison Break with Michael and Sara…..sadly, it wasn’t anything like it.
I really didn’t care for the main characters in this one. Briar was so naive. She had no idea what Knox went to prison for and was a-okay going into their relationship blind. She also got herself into too many dangerous situations by simply not using common sense. Knox was a very complicated character. His excuse for everything was that he was a bad person and deserved prison and everything that came with being convicted felon. I won’t go into details about why Knox was in prison so you can experience it while reading.
I felt like Knox treated Briar like crap. Half the time he didn’t want Briar but he didn’t want anyone else to have her either. On the rare occasion that Knox did want Briar….it was a wham, bam, thank you ma’am type of situation. Knox tried to cure everything with hot, sexy times. There’s so much more to being in a relationship than just the physical stuff.
I also have no idea why these two were so into each other. There was zero buildup to their relationship. They only had physical attraction that some how turned into feelings with very little communication in between. I just didn’t feel their bond as anything other that sexual attraction. I think Briar deserves so much better. Knox needs to get his head on straight from all the drama that has happened before he tries getting involved with someone.
Overall, this had the promise of being a great story but it just didn’t work for me. I do plan on reading about North, Knox’s brother, in book three. I just won’t be picking it up anytime soon.
I loved this book so much! I’m a sucker for a tormented hero with a heart of gold. As such, Knox is my new favorite book boyfriend.
I like this series even though there’s a common theme in the books I’ve read so far. The characters catch me up and the relationship building is very good
Knox Callaghan is tough as they come, dangerous even. Knox is in jail for 8 years for murder and is waiting to be paroled to start his life all over. He is involved in a fight that lands him in the HSU “Health Services Unit”, where he meets Briar Davis, a nurse volunteering at the prison. When Knox looks at her he seems to see right to the very heart of her and when she looks at him she feels things that she shouldn’t considering he is an inmate.
These two are pulled toward each other and Knox ends up risking his own life to protect Briar’s. He is finally paroled and tries to stay away from her, she’s too good for the likes of him. She tries to as well because she doesn’t want to end up like her mother who has endured violence every day of her life.
Knox and Briar are off again on again until they can no longer deny what is between them and they decide to see if the two of them together are a bad idea or being with each other is what makes them complete.
