The instant #1 New York Times bestseller “Ripped from the headlines . . . Combining in-depth, investigative reporting and fresh interviews, the authors effectively tabloid-proof this shocking, celebrity-driven story by lining up the facts and labeling rumors.” –USA Today Aaron Hernandez was a college All-American who became the youngest player in the NFL and later reached the Super Bowl. His … and later reached the Super Bowl. His every move as a tight end with the New England Patriots played out the headlines, yet he led a secret life–one that ended in a maximum-security prison. What drove him to go so wrong, so fast?
Between the summers of 2012 and 2013, not long after Hernandez made his first Pro Bowl, he was linked to a series of violent incidents culminating in the death of Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player who dated the sister of Hernandez’s fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins.
All-American Murder is the first book to investigate Aaron Hernandez’s first-degree murder conviction and the mystery of his own shocking and untimely death.

It’s a factual recitation of the events and definitely a page turner. However, the authors don’t engage in much analysis.
Well written. Sad that someone with great potential ruined his life
This is a true story of Aaron Hernandez and I can’t even believe the horrible things that happened to him and the mess he got himself into. It was sad and I hate that this happened but story was well written and the details of his life. Life is not always a bed of roses for pro football players. A very well written book and very sad.
Nothing really new but a good source of the entire story in one easy read
Usually, I do not read non-fiction but since I’m a football fan and a fan of Patterson, I thought I’d give it a go. Was interesting. A guy who made 40 million and still acts like a thug. I guess you can blame it on his brain damage. Hopefully, his ploy to get money for his girlfriend and daughter won’t work.
Well written and a very sad story to tell regarding Aaron Hernandez.
Engrossing – even if you know nothing about football.
I thought this book was awful. I can usually finish any book that I start but this was so bad I could not finish it. I would not recommend it to anyone. Shame James Patterson for putting your name on a book this bad
Good read. Lots of interesting details
I picked this up because I love James Patterson & his true crime books. He does them very well. This is no different. Everyone says that Aaron Hernandez was such a great guy, he was so sweet, etc. However, if you look, really look at him, there were signs all the way back to high school that there was something wrong with him. He hung out with gang members, he did drugs, and not just marijuana, but serious drugs. He did drugs that made him paranoid. He had serious mental issues. This guy was a walking time-bomb! I couldn’t believe the things I learned in this book. I loved it!
Very intriguing and interesting true story. I was disappointed in James Patterson’s writing compared to his other books. The story at times was disjointed. I had the feeling that the book writing was “rushed to publish” and important details were omitted. I’d recommend because of my interest in Aaron Hernandez as a troubled athlete and his connection to gang activity but can’t say it was well written.
I am a huge Patterson fan but was very disappointed in this book. The first story was pretty good, although quite violent. The second one was clearly not written or reviewed by Patterson. There were so many errors, typos and just plain using the wrong word. These books had poorly developed storylines; not of the caliber of the book about Jeffery the predatory pedophile.
Informative and easy to read
Very sad story.
Reading this book I became angry at the double standard for regular citizens and the rich. Child abuse, especially sexual child abuse is loathsome and should not be tolerated. I no longer respect Allen Dershowitz because he tricked the system into a lame punishment for this despicable abuser.
Although well written, there wasn’t any insight into the case of Aaron Hernandez that couldn’t be found in any article already published. I expected additional investigative information that just isn’t here.
Not up to Patterson’s other books.
Not as good as most James Patterson’s
books that I have read. Usually I cannot put his books down, but this one I had to force myself to keep reading.
Interesting book. Easy to read. Kept my interest throughout.
When I heard James Patterson wrote this book I wanted to read this. This story was very well written. Even though it talked about most of the details I heard or read in the news it also talked about a lot of things I didn’t know. I loved how James Patterson was very straight down the middle. This story was very sad & very heart breaking . My heart & prayers go out all the families in this story. Aaron Hernandez was fabulous football player with a lot of problems & if all the people who surrounded him would have address those problems the way they address his playing skills maybe all of this would have not happened. I am a football fan & I loved watching Aaron Hernandez play. Whether you are a football fan like me or not this is a very well layed out to read. Awesome job Mr. Patterson.
