I was lucky enough to read an ARC and really enjoyed this fun read.
All-American Cowboy is Dylann Crush’s debut novel, to be released in June 2018. It is a cute contemporary Texas romance which utilizes the fish-out-of-water trope when a New York executive (Beck) must work three months at a Texas honkytonk to secure an inheritance from his recently deceased grandfather. The female love interest is the tortured heroine, Charlie, who has run the honkytonk for the past eight years and has hidden her emotions while remaining in a small Texas town since her longtime boyfriend was killed by an IED. A cute change is that she goes to visit Beck in New York and is, in turn, a fish-out-of-water in the big city.
City girl meets country cowboy and hilarious. The pig stole the story. I highly recommend.
Yee-haw!!! I loved this book. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
Fun, sexy and entertaining, a great summer read!
This is a very enjoyable read. A well written, fun storyline holds your interest well as the romance unfolds. With a cute plot and great chemistry, Beck, Charlie and Holiday, Texas steal your heart. A wonderful story that offers plenty of emotion, laugh out loud of humor and a whole lot of charm. Add in a hero and heroine that are polar opposites, an adorable, scene stealing pig and a town of quirky characters and you will surely want to visit Holiday, Texas again and again. This is a standalone read. I am very excited for the next book in this enjoyable series.
I absolutely LOVED this book! This is a new to me author and based on this book I will be anxiously waiting on more from her. She has a very fluid writing style with some amazing well developed characters. The quirky small town setting is a favorite of mind so this book had that going for it as well. The story has tons of humor, family issues, sexy times, and pigs. Yes, pigs! Beck and Charlie were hilarious together and I loved how Beck handles everything and for a big city guy it was a lot. Bottom line – don’s miss this laugh out loud hilarious yet heartwarming story. I highly recommend it.
Charlie has run the honky-tonk in Holiday, TX for the last several years under the mentorship of Sully Holiday, the last man from the founding family to still live in town. When Sully dies, Charlie gets some conflicting news and has her life put on hold.
Beck Holiday lives in NYC with his billionaire dad. Together they are powerful real-estate developers, but Beck wants to make a difference in the projects he chooses. When they get the news that Sully has died, it comes as a shock when the will states that Beck, not his dad will inherit the honky-tonk in the family’s Texas town. Especially since he never met his grandfather and his dad never had good things to say.
When Beck meets Charlie he’s smitten with the feisty bar manager. There are some hilarious situations that ensue, particularly with the pig, Baby Back.
This was a fun read that was a little longer than most for a romance book, but worth it. Somehow, I missed that this wasn’t a “clean” read, so the intimate scenes took me by surprise, but they were well-placed and made sense with the storyline.
This had everything I love in a romance novel– small-town charm, chaotic families, Southern sass, and just the right amount of drama v. sweetness. Throw in some pig-related escapades, some city slickers, and a little bit of a traumatic past, and the story is pretty darn perfect. This was a fun, escapist read and I immediately started the second book in the series when I finished this one. I’m not the biggest fan of steamy love scenes, but Crush presented them beautifully and didn’t make me blush too awfully much, which is high praise coming from the girl who usually skips past them. I think the fact that that were handled in an incredibly realistic way helped out tremendously, as did the comedic relief that often came afterwards. I am definitely hooked and excited to find out what happens next in Holiday!
I am declaring this my favorite contemporary book of this 2018 summer!!!!!!
I love a book that makes me laugh, takes me away from life’s struggles, and deposits me into a happier place.
The All- American Cowboy by Dylann Crush hit the spot!! Hook, line, and gut wrenching laugher!!!!!
What’s a New Yorker to do when he inherits his grandfather’s estate which includes the oldest Honky Tonk in Texas, a mascot pig, and a rundown ranch?
However, stipulations are in Beck Holiday’s grandfathers will and he must follow through or the estates goes to an undisclosed party.
Charlie Walker has been running the Rambling Rose for Sully for eight years, it’s her life, salvation, and future.
Now that Sully has passed she’s torn as what her future will hold. Beck needs her help in order to get a feel of his new inheritance and no matter how bad Charlie wants to see him fail, she can’t deny Sully’s dying wish, for a “Holiday” to continue the tradition that’s over a 125 years old.
So can Beck transform his Mr. Manhattan stride into a Texas swagger?
Then there’s Baby Back, the Rambling Rose mascot, she’s sure to put herself right smack dab into each reader’s heart. Who said putting lipstick on a pig was hard? Try dressing up one for the annual pageant.
When Beck’s father gets wind of his father’s will, he’s bound and determined to get his hand in The Rose, even if it means backstabbing his son and the folks of Holiday, Texas.
However Charlie has figured this devil in disguise out, but is there time to stop the inevitable?
Holiday, Texas where most everyone knows what you’re doing before you know yourself.
All I can say is let the fun begin and the laughs flow!
So grab a can of your favorite beverage, a Lone Star if you’re in need of a true Texas Beer, find a shade tree and be ready to laugh and enjoy a great trip to Holiday, Texas.
Ms. Dylann Crush’s character development and witty humor sets this book apart from your normal contemporary romances.
Phenomenal writing, great plot, and superb escape.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
OMGosh! I laughed so hard in spots that I had to stop reading to wipe the tears. This was a fantastic story. I read the second book first and then this (yes, I am backwards at times.) The characters are wonderful. I so adore the entire Walker family. This book just cemented them into my hearts. I had to read the more funny sections to my hubby as he couldn’t figure out what I was snorting about in my laugh-fest.
I was enthralled right from the beginning. I just absolutely LOVE Charlie (Charlotte). Beck on the other hand was drool-worthy (if you could get around his loyalty to his dad.) I want to move to Holiday, Texas. These two books of Ms. Crush’s has moved her up into my must read category. I adore her wit and charm that she puts into her stories.
This book was also written in a dual POV format. This is a must for me as I am in my mid-50’s and the younger characters do and say things that I sometimes just don’t understand. Reading their POV really helps me to gear my way of thinking into comprehending them and enjoying the story.
I highly recommend this story. Just be prepared for laughs and good times. Yes, there is some sex scenes but the story doesn’t revolve around sex. It is not erotica. It is just a evolution of a healthy relationship.
What love does once Beck meets Charlie changes his whole perspective about small towns and fast city living. What a charming romance that you cannot put down.
What a sweet and funny story. I can’t wait for her holiday book.
Couldn’t help pick it up with that super cute cover! Witty and fun with just the right amount of heat.
Sweet, charming, heartwarming and emotional small town romance that was so fun and entertaining afternoon reading in the backyard under a shade tree with a tall class of cold sweet tea.
Beck and Charlie are an exciting, witty and adorable couple and I am so happy I got to read their journey. Holiday, Texas is a sweet and fun small town I would loved to revisit anytime. Overall a highly entertaining and engaging from beginning to end read.
A cute small town read. Love the troublemaking pig, Baby Back!
A strong fierce cowgirl showing her City boy what it means to be family and living in a small town. And of course a little something about Baby back ribs.
A funny story that has a city slick Beck Holiday finding out that his grandfather who he had never met left him a bar, property, and a home in Holiday Texas. His father who ran away from the town when he turned eighteen was skipped over. Now traveling to this town to find out what everything is about, Beck is about to have his world turned upside down. Frist by a pig “Pulled Pork” and then by Charlie Walker who he thinks is a guy, but no is a woman and has been running the Honkey Tonk for his grandfather for the past five years. When he thinks he can do a better job and she walks out, he is greeted by the sheriff who just happens to be one of her brothers. This is just one of many problems that his MBA will not work in Texas. It’s just taken him a while to figure everything out. When he does start figuring out things he may just end up losing the bar, the town, and most importantly the woman. He must fix it and hold off his father also, a very fun book with really good characters. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at http://www.1rad-readerreviews.com
Light-hearted romance with a good story line however could have done without the steamy rather crude sex scenes and language as it added zero to the plot. Cannot see myself reading more by this author.
