“What the fuck do you mean wait? I can feel your terror now. Something has happened and either you tell me now, or I’m coming down there now.” Alistair was being held close to the man behind him and begged Ryland to stay away. “You’ll only get yourself killed, and your wife will kill me if you do.” He took a deep breath as they moved in the hall and Alistair got his first look around. “I’m being … “I’m being held with a gun to my head to be, as he put it, a shield. Call for help but stay away, please. I can see seven bodies right in front of me, and I don’t want to see you among them. Please, Ryland, listen to me for once.”
Then a lovely woman steps in front of Alistair and his would be killer. She was going to get him killed he just knew it. But when she kills his would be assassin and gets shot in the process he can only think of one thing. She’s his mate.
Ally is on the run and has no idea why she’d stepped in to save the arrogant lawyer. She detests them as a general rule, and since her ex-husband is one…well, Ally doesn’t want anything to do with the handsome man.
Lance Isaac wants his wife back―he needs her back―to die for him. But when Alistair steps in and takes her away Lance decides to kill them both.
The Golden men stick together. Especially when it comes to saving the women of their streak. Alistair knows his brothers will help him keep his mate safe but will she let them? It certainly doesn’t seem that way. But when Lance shows up telling him that Allyson is his, Alistair decides to show him that messing with his family is as good as stepping in front of a moving train. It just isn’t a smart move―but then again Lance isn’t all that smart.
Ryland isn’t the only sexy Golden. Find out in the next installment of the Golden Streak Series―Alistair.

If you follow my reviews then you know I’ve started on a series I found by Kathi S. Barton that I hadn’t read before. ‘Alistair’ is book two of her “Golden Streak” series and it’s just as hot and intriguing as the first book, ‘Ryland’ was. Alistair is the second of six sons in the Golden family and an attorney by trade. He was just leaving the courtroom when someone on the other side of the door started shooting people and then wound up taking Alistair as his human shield. Of course, his older brother Ryland had felt his terror immediately and contacted Alistair through their link where he was asked to contact the police to get some help there immediately. Nine people were shot and killed when an unknown young woman, Allyson, started talking to the shooter claiming to be on his side and wanting to escape as well. The more she talked to the shooter the closer she got, trying to build his trust. When she finally achieved her goal of getting close to both men she wound up stabbing and killing the shooter but it came at a price. He’d shot her in the stomach. Before Alistair could gather his wits about him she had left. Now he was on a frantic mission to find the woman who saved his life and who needed medical attention but she seemingly vanished into thin air. Allyson, aka Ally, was on the run and hiding from her abusive ex-husband. She couldn’t even begin to understand why she had gotten involved in the first place. She was just going to try to help one of the officers before he wound up being killed. She knew she had to keep a low profile or she’d wind up being caught and punished again and she had no intention of that happening. These two characters have the insta-attraction, overwhelming lust, hot as blue blazes chemistry for each other that just seemed to make the intrigue of her tormentor that much more intense. If I thought the first book was an indication this series would be good then this one sealed the deal. I want more!!
All together, I’d probably only rate this book 3.5 stars.
Although I love just about any book Kathi Barton writes, I just couldn’t feel the connection between Alistair and Ally.
Alistair is the lawyer of the family. Just like his brothers he is a weretiger and possessive of those he loves and considers his. Not once did he think to meet his mate when he was being held hostage.
Ally is running from her abusive ex-husband. She never considered the reasons he was so determined to bring her back under his control. She doesn’t want another man around to think he can boss her around and put her in her place.
Ally was in my opinion a very annoying characters. She kept comparing everything Alistair did to Lance (her ex). She determined to keep running and not let the Golden family protect her, even after she learns of their secret. I also got quite aggravated after the first time they had sex or claiming, she got upset and tried putting blame on him telling him he should’ve said no even after he warned her what would happen before he stuck it in her hehe.
