She just wanted to get out of the city. She never expected to end up in space!
Needing a break from her busy city life, Eve rents a cabin in the woods. But things don’t go exactly as planned. When she’s abducted by scary, mantis-like aliens, her world is turned upside down.
Among the strange-looking aliens is Doran, a kind, human-like alien. Could he be her only hope in this crazy situation? … crazy situation? He’s an alien too, and she’s not convinced she can trust him.
So why does she feel drawn to him?
When he accepted a job from the Saithin, he never expected to find her…
Doran’s entire life is ruled by logic, but his predictive abilities as a Qai have made life boring. When he signs up to work on a Saithin ship, he looks forward to travel and adventures. What he doesn’t expect is to play a role in an abduction mission.
When he lays eyes on a beautiful human who looks just like the Qai, he faces an impossible decision – one that will force him to question everything about his life and what he’s been led to believe.
Will he risk everything to save her, or will logic outweigh his emotions?
Alien Pirate’s Desire is a scorching hot prequel novella in the Star Gladiators sci-fi romance series, featuring a brave human woman and a strong, sexy alien who falls head over heels for her. It’s a standalone romance with no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a HEA!

This is a short story. The characters don’t reach out and pull you into the story. It needs some tweaking in the telling. I don’t know how to say this, but it seems like it is written more like a fairy tale than a romance. I mean there is some romance, but it is the way the story is worded. Anyway, if you like alien abduction stories, you might like this one. I thought it left something to be desired.
Eve goes on vacation to get away, and get away she does. She is kidnapped by aliens, to the find out Doran one of the aliens that took her is her mate. This was an entertaining story that ended to soon. I wish it had more but that is only because I never want a good story to end.

Very enjoyable and entertaining read for a Alien abduction story. There plenty of intrigue, action, suspense, and of course romantic elements but it wasn’t until almost towards the end of the book but that didn’t take away from the story. Overall it was a good read. I received a free copy via booksprout I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
While danger abounds, the story developed at a good pace. Lust at first sight isn’t the foundation of their relationship. Instead, theirs is built from trust, fortified by their circumstances and connections.

A friend in need Is a friend indeed. Well not necessarily friend. But a potential mate. Eve was on a vacation far far away from the city to try to get away from the hustle and bustle of her job. Which makes no emails, no phone calls, no text messages, nothing. She sitting there gazing upon the stars trying to figure out how she’s going to relax, there’s a light that starts glowing by her cabin. I don’t know why the heck she decided to go check it out and was hearing footsteps. I’m just saying, if I am out in the middle of nowhere camping in the middle of nowhere and hear footsteps and no it’s not the shift of the wind, I’m truly not going to go investigate. I’m gonna slink to my car and leave. Period. So, she gets kidnapped by aliens. One who looks very human and the other one it looks like a mantis as possibly a pre-mantis. See this is where Hanna-Barbera comes in and this is not A Space Ghost villain. Doran is qua. He looks very much human but not. Anyway he’s the one who basically attracts her attention enough when he realizes that humans were very similar to his species. One thing leads to another and he want to go “check up on her “. He kind of gets caught by the captain but he knows he can’t leave her there he feels drawn to her. He wants to understand what is going on. So he is now the hero. of course when you steal somebody else’s “property “you are signing a Deathwish. So this is how their adventure begins. Nice decently short. All the fine points of what you’re looking for in a nice quick light action packed story.

I really enjoyed reading this prequel, it has a good storyline, it is entertaining and filled with adventure. The chemistry and interaction between the characters of Eve and Doran is wonderful. I can’t wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Doran wanted adventure and excitement and seeing other planets. He didn’t realize that when he signed up with the Sinthin his first mission would be stealing human women as slaves for the gladiators. Eve is relaxing in a cabin in the woods. Never realizing that her life is about to change. The book was pretty good as far as abduction Alien stories go. She and her alien escape with their lives but what kind of life do you have always looking over your shoulder running from the Sinthin who are out to kill you for stealing their human. Happy ending but always running. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Doran helped the Saithin kidnap Eve so she could be a tribute to a winner of the gladiator fights. But she looked so much like a Qai female that he was attracted to her at first glance, then it was more. He realized he had to help her escape and risk their lives and be on the run forever. Eve woke up and knew this alien would protect her and followed him to her freedom.

I really liked this book, much more than I though I would going into it. While it has romantic elements throughout, until almost the end the romance isn’t significant. But the story works really, really well. There is a lot of action and suspense and moral quandaries and soul searching. While the attraction is there from the beginning, Eve and Doran are too busy to much about it until the very end. Great imagination was used the creation of this universe, and the explanations/descriptions flowed with the story. This is a quick, fascinating read. Zara Starr is a new author for me, and I’m hooked. Very much looking forward to reading more of her work!

I enjoyed the book, it was action packed and appeared to be a great start to a new series. Doran signs a contract to work on an alien ship and finds out the hard way, that they are capturing females to give as prizes at their gladiator games. Doran feels sympathy, especially for the first human captured, Eve and helps her escape. Together they start a new life. This was a great read and I would recommend this novella.
Doran, a Qai, was on a Saithin ship 6 hours into his shift, watching for anything that could be considered as dangerous debris, at which point he would push the call button the moment something came up. He had taken this job for the adventure, but watching for space rocks was fairly boring if you did it long enough. The Qai were an intelligent race, able to predict almost anything, which gave them security and safety. Now he waited for something UNpredictable to capture his attention. They would be landing on Earth in an hour, and he was curious as to their purpose there. The Captain had come into the room, so he asked his question and was surprised to hear that they were rounding up the prizes for the tournaments – meaning alien females. Doran didn’t like the trafficking of living beings, but the captain cut off any further discussion. And Doran had signed a contract to perform this job, so there was nothing he could do, except pay better attention to what he signed the next time.
Wanting to take a break from her hectic life of stress in the city, Eve rents a cabin in the woods where things will be quiet and uneventful as she breathed in the clean air. That is not what happens, however. She is abducted by frightening, mantis-like alien creatures. Among them, she sees Doran, a kind, human-looking alien. Could he be her only hope for escape? Would he be willing to help her? Could she even trust him?
The pace of this story seems to be very slow. The reader could absolutely feel the boredom set in, so at least Doran’s boredom was felt and shared. It would seem that an intelligent species such as the Qai would have reviewed the contract better before signing. And Doran would make more mistakes as he went along. There was a great deal of repetition in the story as well, repeating the Qai qualities, repeating Doran’s hope for exploration and the unexpected, and other such details where once would have been enough.
The description of Eve also was a repetition again and again to convince us of how she was stressed and put upon by her demanding job – even to the point her cell phone kept receiving non-stop text messages in the woods (guess she didn’t go far enough away to avoid a cell tower “in the middle of nowhere” and forgot the phone can be turned off). It was very annoying to the reader and built up no rapport with the characters. So when Eve heard voices in the woods, she RUNS? Nope, she gets up from her chair and goes into the woods toward the light she sees! There went the last of my empathy.
