How insane is it to marry an alien as a publicity stunt?I’m Sunny Weathers. You probably recognize me from my reality show, Sunny Weathers’ Excellent Adventures. I’ve had to perform a lot of crazy stunts in my career, but this one takes the cake! The producers are sending me to another planet to become an alien’s mail-order bride. I’m not allowed to tell anybody it’s a put-on, and as soon my … put-on, and as soon my contract is up, I’ll be leaving planet Dakon. Unfortunately, I hadn’t counted on my attraction to Mr. Tall, “Darq,” and Handsome…
I’m Darq. The moment I laid eyes on the female with pretty mud-colored hair and a sunny smile, I knew she was mine. Competition for females is fierce, and I was determined to claim a mate from the latest shipment from Earth, so I broke the rules. If anyone finds out, my own brother will banish me to the icy wilderness, and I’ll lose my mate. I will do anything to keep her…

Alien Attraction is book two of the Alien Mate series by Cara Bristol. This novel is fast, entertaining, and light. The premise of this series is along the lines of an alien mail order bride service.
I’ve been on an alien kick and devoured this book and all the books in the Alien Mate series one after the other. This one I read in a day.
Alien Attraction can be read out of order or as a standalone, but it’s better if read in order. The book is available on its own or in a box set; which features all the books in the Alien Mate series.
We meet, Torq and his brother Darq, in the first book, Alien Mate, and now it’s Darq’s turn to get a sassy earth women.
I wasn’t too sure going into this at first on the set up. I don’t care for characters to build a relationship on lies. Yet, I was soon engrossed and rooting for our hero and heroine. Their circumstances were complicated and you know that their truths will come out and when it does who knows what will happen. The conflict in the story added to my enjoyment and when things blew up our couple was in the right place in their relationship.
Sunny and Darq’s romance developed nicely. They took the slower route in developing and getting to know each other better; before acting on their attraction.
Like with book one, there is some good humored moments and some fireworks. It was also nice to get a peek in with Torq and Star and a few others.
Alien Attraction is an easy and fast sci-fi romance with action, engaging characters, and a bit of steam.
Rated: 4 Stars
I’ve read it twice.
Sunny was sent to another planet to become a mail order bride.Darq wanted Sunny as soon as he saw her. He decided to break the rules and risk exile to have her but, what he didn’t know was that it was all a gimmick and that she was planning on leaving. This was an intriguing story with loveable characters and I would definitely recommend it.
Definitely enjoyed this one.
Fun reading
Great read
I really enjoyed this book, having previously read the series opener. This series continues to be a winner in my opinion. Keep them coming Cara!
RATING 4.5 STARS
Alien Attraction is book two in the Alien Mate series by Cara Bristol. This book can be purchased on it’s own but is also available in a box set of all four books in the series.
In the first book, we met Torg, the clan chief. We learned that on their planet, females were scarce due to a virus caused by an asteroid centuries before. Earth learned of an ore the Dakonians had so in exchange for ore they are allowing human females to travel to Dakon as a sort of mail order bride, a mate for the men of Dakon. These men cherish their females and competition to be one of the men to claim one of the women is fierce.
Darq is Torg’s brother. He has watched Torg fall in love and wants that for himself. He can feel it in his bones that one of the women on the coming ship is his mate, the woman just for him. But Darq has a secret. The men live by their honor on their planet. And Darq might not have been one of the original men to get chosen to receive a numbered chit so that he could choose a mate this time. But opportunity presented itself and he took it. If anyone finds out, not only would he embarrass his brother, he would be punished, banished from the clan. But it’s a risk worth taking, because his mate is waiting for him.
Sunny Weathers hates her job. She is what we would call a reality TV star. Her show is called Sunny Weathers Excellent Adventures. She’s contractually obligated to do whatever crazy challenge they put before her. But this one is the worst. They are sending her to another planet to be a mate to an alien. But when the filming is over, she’s supposed to come home, breaking the man’s heart. But she doesn’t have a choice. Not only would she be out of a job if she refuses, her sister and nephew count on her to support them. And the production company has made her a deal she can’t refuse.
I loved this one. Darq and Sunny were so adorable. The chemistry was there from the first moment but Sunny was so torn. She just couldn’t let her or Darq’s feelings become involved. She had to do her job and then leave. But sometimes the heart doesn’t listen to the head.
I can’t wait to start the next book, Alien Intention. This one will be about Sunny’s sister, Stormy, and the bad boy of the Dakonians, Romando.
More steamy alien SF romance
This is shaping up to be a good series. Good world-building, likable characters, enough heat to keep you warm in winter, and HEA too.
Take a sarcastic scheming woman with slightly scheming man and you get a humorous interesting story. Bristol writes a sweet novel about Darq, the brother of the hero in her first novel of the series. Stormy Daniels is a reality show star with way too much experience in horrible episodes that feature her pig farming, traipsing through the jungle and anything the producers can dream up to make her miserable while getting high ratings.
The latest happens to be living for a year on an alien planet. Stormy flatly refuses but is forced into the filming when she desperately needs money for her nephew’s life-saving surgery. Darq himself is forced into a deception when he must steal the chit giving him the right to choose a bride from the ship of women bringing brides to his planet.
Stormy comes from planet over populated with commitment shy men. She goes to Darq’s planet over populated with men desperate to find brides to save there species from extinction.
While the dual deception storyline is very common, the various situations in the novel are unique and laugh out loud funny. The book is hard to put down and will definitely keep you reading long into the night just as I did.
I’m voluntarily posting my honest review after receiving a copy of the book generously provided by the author.
It was nice to revisit this world. I really love the world and how primitive it was but still comfortable. I liked the honor and integrity of the tribes. I was disgruntled at first when Darq did what he did. I loved the cool technology introduced by Sunny and the Terrans. I’m not sure about the protagonist, He had every right to be mad but he just went about things the wrong way. There where several times I laughed out loud at Sunny. It was nice to see the couple from the first book. I really liked them. I’m really interested in how Stormy is going to do when she and her little cyborg arrive.
Sunny and Darq and their shady story are totally worth reading! Sunny and Darq are both a little shady, but you fall in love with them anyway. This is a strong story that has many humorous elements as well as some hot scenes that build the tension. The stories they tell each other, the unscrupulous things they do to become a couple give you the feeling that they maybe really are meant to be together. I loved the twist when the truth comes out, and the tension that it adds to the story. I love the story that Cara Bristol writes and I can’t wait to see what kind of story she can come up with for Stormy! Please don’t let it be Romono though.
Another great book by Cara Bristol. A reality TV stunt turns into a very real attraction for Torg and Sunny. Many twists and turns to a happy ending.
What do you do when you dream of your mate coming but loose your chance to claim her. The unthinkable by Dakonian law. Darq wants his mate and will lie, steal and forge records to get her. Sunny does not enjoy her career but it pays the bills until it doesn’t and she must do the most outrageous adventure yet to save her family. I’m not a huge fan of the reality show (vid) storylines in books but this story was sweet, emotional and very entertaining with plenty of humor, drama and potentially dangerous situations.
**Received ARC for a fair and honest review**
Alien Attraction is the 2nd book in the Alien Mate series. This book can be read as a standalone. I found this book to be a fun, fast, enjoyable read. Sunny Weathers is on her own reality show. The producers keep coming up with new and crazy schemes to get her involved in for ratings, and this newest is the most crazy of them all. They want Sunny to marry an alien, she’s not thrilled about it, but her nephew is really sick and the treatment is costly, and there isn’t much she wouldn’t do for her nephew Devon, including marrying an alien.
Darq has been dreaming about a woman that is supposed to be coming in the next group of women fated to be his mate. But when the draft comes up and he doesn’t get a chit like he’s supposed to he’s devastated, until he finds one on the ground. Decisions, decisions for him…..
I really enjoyed this story. I thought it was a neat storyline, piggybacking off of the reality tv idea. I enjoyed the characters, was good chemistry between them. The only issue I had with the book, was I felt the ending was rushed. I think there needed to be a little more story between them- there seems to be a trend lately of the characters just get together and then the story ends. There is an epilogue, but it felt like important information was left out from the in-between. That’s why I rated it a 4 instead of 5 stars. Overall, really enjoyed this book tremendously! Can’t wait for the next book in the series. Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!
I cannot fathom how she does it, but each of Ms. Bristol’s books is superb. The writing is well-done. The characters are well developed and highly entertaining. Never a dull moment. These two characters are neither good nor evil. They have a past that just keeps following them. I was immediately enticed by their passion, fierce personalities and their troubles. It was easy to love them. I wanted to see where their lives were headed. The ending was wonderful.
This is book 2 in the Alien Mate series. It’s about Darq, who is the brother of Torg from the book 1, and Sunny Weathers. Darq has entered the lottery hoping for a mate from earth, especially after seeing how happy his brother is with his mate. Sunny has been sent to Dakon as part of a stunt for her reality show back on Earth. And she has no choice in the matter until her contract is up. What she never counted on was how she would feel about Darq and having to lie to him about why she was sent to the planet to begin with. And Darq has his own secrets that he is keeping, and if they are found out it could lead to major problems not only for himself but his brother.
I loved this one! Right from the start you could understand why Sunny does what she does. Even though she really doesn’t want to do this, she doesn’t have a choice. And even though she is a “celebrity”, you never get that stuck up vibe like you would expect from someone who has had to live in front of a camera. Darq was always sweet in the first book and this one is no different. He surprised me when he does what he does to make sure he got a mate but I couldn’t really blame him. Right from the start you like these characters. They both made me laugh at the things they say and do. They both made me just genuinely like not only who they are but how they treat each other. They are perfect for each other. And the fact that Darq is so forgiving is a wonderful thing to see!! And the way he treats her family is beyond awesome! I can’t wait to read Sunny’s sisters story next!!
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this! It was fun, quirky, cute, with a bit of sadness and plenty of self righteous anger. Sunny is a reality tv star and to get more ratings her producer wants to send her off world to get married. If it wasn’t for her sick nephew she would have said no and been done with it. But her nephew, Devon, needs a new heart. When it comes to her producer and manager, Sunny seems like a push-over. She lets them set her up to do whatever they want, doesn’t matter if she thinks it’s wrong. After getting on the spaceship to head to Dakon, Sunny slowly but surely decides she is fed up with being a push-over.
Data was sure he would get a chit to be privileged with being able to pick out his soon to be mate. But he doesn’t get picked. He ends up doing something unthinkable in the Dakonian mind. When the women arrive he locks eyes with Sunny and there is an instant sizzle.
This was a fun, quick, lighthearted read. I loved it and cannot wait to read Stormy’s story! I’m sure Sunny’s reaction is going to be priceless!!
Sunny is a reality star (think Kardashian level!). But her adventures are getting weirder, more dangerous and all done in the name of ratings. She is ready to throw in the towel when the producers tell her the new twist – she is going to marry an alien! She really needs the money to take care of her sick nephew but can she really get married, and to an alien at that? One who will have no idea that he is the star of the show, or that when her year is up, she intends to leave.
Darq was not lucky enough to win a slot from the lottery for a mate. But luck was looking out for him and he …acquires a chit which he intends to use. when he first glimpses Sunny he knows she is the one for him. But his innate sense of responsibility is eating at him for stealing someone else’s shot at matehood.
Between flying nano cameras, bloodcurdling producers and sick nephews poor Sunny has a lot on her plate. I loved the way these two gelled together, even when keeping secrets from each other. I cannot wait to see what happens with Stormy and her grumpy alien!
great read
