Alice can’t believe her eyes when a white rabbit wearing a waistcoat and carrying a pocket watch dashes by her. She chases after him, down a rabbit hole to a strange land full of exotic creatures, like the Mad Hatter and March Hare, a smiling Cheshire cat, a philosophical caterpillar, and a tempermental croquet-playing queen. Alice can hardly keep track of all the curious characters, let alone … herself!
Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has been adapted to an easier reading level for Stepping Stones, while keeping all the fun, nonsense, and fantastic twists of the original book.

Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland is one we are all familiar with at some point in our lives. Many of us have read an abridged version, heard the basics of the tale from friends or family, or even watched cartoon versions. And when Johnny Depp’s version was filmed, everyone flocked to re-read the book. I actually read the story when I was about …
One of my favourite books as a child and one my grandkids and the neighbour’s kids want read to them over and over again. I’m glad I have an excuse to read it often as I never tire of this classic.
I, probably like everyone else, knew Alicia’s story. I had seen the animated movie and also the new versions, but had never had a chance to read the book.
As for the storytelling, I’m so glad I listened to the audiobook (narrated by Lynn Norris) instead of reading the story on my own, because it probably wouldn’t have caught me at this point in …
I first read this book when I was in 4th grade. I remember sitting on the couch in our living room and not being able to put it down. I loved it and I still do. It is utterly unique and it’s an old friend that I come back to from time to time. I have even been known to quote it.
this book was amazing and I loved it some much it was fun reading it because it had some detail to it and alice was sad and then that’s when it made me sad.
This is my favorite book. From childhood to old lady this is my book.
I really did make several attempts at reading these stories, but unfortunately couldn’t get past the dialogue of Alice. I understand that this was the intention, and I’m sure most would disagree with me, but it was very ‘rapid-fire,’ scattered and downright anxiety-producing at times. I never thought I could have that experience while reading, …
Alice is my go-to book when trying to cope with office politics. A refuge when the bastards are getting you down.
“We’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
I listened to Jim Dale’s reading of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland because 1) it was available on Overdrive, 2) revisiting highly quotable childhood tales is kind of my groove, and 3) come on, it’s the god of all narrators, JIM FREAKING DALE!
Admittedly, I was feeling a little “mad” myself by the end …
Fun loving book for all ages
One of my all time favorites.
Great insight into Victorian childhood.
Unforgettable characters.
Great fun!
It may not be “timely”, and there may be questions about Dodgsons’ relationship with the real Alice (contemporary reflections on a 200-year-old situation are pointless, really), but the mad-cap situations and cleverly zany dialogue make me laugh. There are some interesting historical points in the stories, if you care to look them up, but it’s …
A childhood favorite. Gets better everytime I read it. Strongly recommend this book in your personal library. I remember sitting in a small nook in our very small neighborhood library and completely getting lost in this book. I always wanted to be invited to the Mad Hatters Tea Party!
Another book I have read many times and enjoyed every time. My requirement for a 5.
Have read it many times as a child, a parent, and a grandparent. Love it.
A wonderful Children’s Classic that can be read again as an Adult .
Only book I ever read twice as a young girl. As an adult so many historical references to think about.
this is a good movie
This book is many things, but boring isn’t one of them.
