♥ A swoon-worthy nobleman with a dark past♥ A debutante with a flawless reputation♥ A compromising embrace♥ A close-knit, meddling family♥ Sweet Regency romance!
From New York Times bestselling author Lauren Royal and her daughter comes the first novel in their beloved Regency series featuring the “outrageously funny, loyal, and endearing” Chase family.
Lady Alexandra Chase has always liked family.
Lady Alexandra Chase has always liked being the perfect daughter, thank you very much. Why would she bother chafing against society’s restrictions when instead she could be basking in the warm glow of its approval? But when her brother’s best friend—and secret obsession—returns from a long spell abroad, she begins losing interest in the suitable young lord she’s expected to marry. Suddenly, family duty and a flawless reputation seem less important than the chance, however slight, that her girlhood crush might notice her now that she’s all grown up…
Tristan Nesbitt has done some growing up himself over the last few years, what with moving across oceans, inheriting a title, and facing a devastating scandal. But through it all, he’s never forgotten the Chases, the closest thing he had to a family back in his school days. When his old friend Griffin Chase requests a favor, he’s happy to oblige, as long as he can maintain enough distance from the family that his infamous past won’t tarnish their good name. Unfortunately, one Chase seems intent on getting much closer to him than she should…

This was an enjoyable book. It had twist and turns that I wondered where it would go. It was great. I would recommend this book to read.
Just as good as the original. Books can be nice and clean and still good. Great family and characters. Nice story line.
Funny, cute, sweet, mysterious and full of love.
I LOVE regency romances! And THIS is book writing at its BEST! The characters are romantic, YET it is realistic enough to feel like I am really transported to that time period! LOVE reading about the romantic tension between Alexandra and love interest Tristan. If you can read this book, PLEASE DO!!
If you’re looking for steamy, graphic details this is not the book for you. If you’re looking for romance with a deeper relationship that’s implied you will enjoy this book. Very refreshing after some of the books I’ve read recently.
Loved this book. Characters are great and so entertaining.
Nice story; well written. Good glimpse of past era.
It has been interesting to read this story of an earlier time period, just a great novel and even some mystery to solve.
Just a fun romance to kiss yourself in and escape from responsibilities.
good book
I enjoyed reading this book.
Loved this book!
enjoyed reading this book
Loved the book…….I enjoy every book I’ve read by this author, and I have read many.
Excellent read!
People say we live in troubled time, but i think the times in this story were so much harder on families.
Good light read
Excellent regency romance and I do SO appreciate that it is “sweet and clean!” The characters are so well developed and interesting that I feel like we’re old friends after just reading this first book.
I enjoyed this book. The story was good and the intrigue kept me guessing. It’s a clean, standalone read. However, if you read the author’s note at the end, you will see that she does a lot of research. Yet in this book Alexandra used lip gloss…in 1815, when it wasn’t invented till 1930 by Max Factor. It’s a small thing but affects the authenticity. I was also disappointed with the epilogue. Instead of closure regarding Maude and Peggy, the author ends with her next book in mind. Others may feel differently about it, but I don’t like that. So while I did enjoy the story I was left feeling dissatisfied in the end.
I love Regency. I love big, dramatic families. I love desserts. This has it all with a dash of mystery thrown in for a flourish! I can’t wait to read more about this family as they all tumble into matrimony! Happy Reading!
I enjoyed the mix of mystery and romance. Tristan the hero was so male, he would make up his mind to do something but get distracted by Alexandra’s presence.
