I like this book
Fun and fast-paced!
When 14-year-old Alex Rider learns his uncle dies in a car accident, he just doesn’t buy it. A bit of snooping, and he learns the truth: his uncle was a spy for Britain’s secret intelligence agency. And now that same agency wants Alex to go undercover, find his uncle’s killer, and discover why his uncle was killed. Easier said than done.
What I liked: fun spy book with lots of action. Great villain -one the reader can have a tad of empathy for at first, but then he really is just evil. Great writing, it’s easy to visualize all the different settings and locales in the book. And, did I mention lots of action? So fun!
What I didn’t like: sometimes things just happened too fortunately for him. He’d get into a really tight spot, and -stroke of luck- there was a convenient way for him to get out. It is kind of reminiscent of James Bond, so I get it, but it was just a little too much. Also, Alex himself is rather stoic sometimes (14-year-old boys are usually a bit more…animated).
But all-in-all, a fun read, and great start to a series.
4 out of 5 stars
I recommend this book to anyone interested in teen spy fiction.
Good fiction series for tweens up!
Pure adrenalin from beginning to end! Fourteen-year-old Alex Rider parachutes the reader into a world of secret agents, plotting enemies, evil contract killers and his own mysterious past. Alex accomplishes things only a certain James Bond or Marvel superhero could accomplish. But Alex doesn’t need superpowers: his wits and intelligence are his only weapons against the bad guys and they always get him out of a tight spot. Ideal for 10 to 14-year-old spies who aren’t afraid of a rough treatment. I also highly recommend the 2020, 2021 Alex Rider TV series on Netflix!
I loved this book as a kid. It merged Kim Possible with like, 007, James Bond. And it made everything seem so real and possible. Just an overall great story, characters, world builing. The movie doesnt do it justice, but the book is an amazing read.
What a fantastic action packed spy book.
This is the first book of a series about a teen spy who juggles school and going on dagerous missions after his brother gets killed.
It was so gripping I could not put it down, it was just amazing.
I love every element, from the characters to the plot and technology in the book.
There was so many things I didn’t see coming and so many twists and turns which kept me hooked and wanting to know what was to come.
The ending was a huge shock and I cant wait to read the next book to see where alex will go next and what his next mission will be.
good read also watch the movie, but like normal they made some minor changes I didn’t think fit but the book was great,
