In these interconnected romantic novels, characters facing tragedy, heartbreak, and painful family secrets are drawn to the wild beauty of the natural world. Breaching whales and howling wolves refresh their spirits, but only human love can heal their souls.Haley knew that carrying her twin sister’s baby would be a … twin sister’s baby would be a sacrifice.
She just didn’t know how great.
Pregnant, overworked, and driven to the end of her rope by the neediness of the sister and widowed mother who depend on her, a high-powered young attorney seeks refuge with a week’s vacation on the Alaskan coast. As overachiever Haley soaks up the serenity of her unexpectedly agreeable surroundings, she finds something else she doesn’t expect — deep feelings for the wildlife-loving boat captain who reminds her how to laugh.
With her unborn niece or nephew on the way and thousands of miles of ocean between their lives and careers, Haley and Ben settle for a friendship. But back home in California, the emptiness in Haley’s heart begins to fester. When her pregnancy takes a frightening turn, she must examine what really matters — and rediscover the childhood dream she never realized she had lost.

LONG TIME COMING
“Emotionally gripping, suspenseful and superb… I was held in wonderment over much of this story and realized early on to expect the unexpected. This is a story of trust, love, friendship and healing. Ms. Claire is an author I hope to see more of in the future. If Long Time Coming is any indication of her writing talent, I will be first in line at the bookstores to get more of her work. MEANT TO BE
“One of the best books I have read this year… An element of suspense runs through the pages, and the endearing tale builds to a crescendo of excitement and thrill while warming the heart. Such a great book that demonstrates how love can be the impetus for individual desire becoming the shared desire of the person you love. This book challenged the characters to do some soul searching and come into their own person in spite of what others wanted or expected of them. Good read!
Great story. Fantastic descriptions of the sights and wildlife in Alaska. Light humor that made me laugh out loud a couple of times.
LIKED THE STORY AND CHARACTERS. VERY DESCRIPTIVE NATURE SCENES OF ALASKA.
This book was great! I loved the characters and story! I was hooked and will be rereading in the near future!
Wonderful characters, the best way to explain family. And the description of Alaska is wonderful.
Easy read, with characters who appear that they might not match up
It happened to be set in an area that I’m familiar with and made it even more enjoyable.
Terrific
This is a great story about finding love at the worst time. Haley & her twin inherited property in Alaska and he is pregnant with her sisters baby. She works hard as an attorney. Ben works as a tour boat captain and loves the environment. He works summer in Alaska and winters in Hawaii.
Very slow.
I enjoyed the characters and the situation the author put them in. It wasn’t the usual fare. I’m always on the look out for something not the norm, so I enjoyed it a lot.
I do think the author was a bit heavy handed with the environmental portions of the story, and it was inevitable where that part of the story was going. That was not as enjoyable to read and frankly I skipped a lot of that. Having said that I did enjoy how the characters handled the situation they found themselves in. I have recommended this to friends.
Highly recommend to read book
I liked the setting
I hated (almost) everybody in this book: the h’s sister, the h’s mother, the H’s sisters, and eventually the heroine.
If you like toxic, selfish and manipulative siblings and mothers who devour your soul, then here you go.
Read it entirely in one sitting, held my attention very well. Especially enjoyed reading about Alaska and Hawaii along with wondering how the relationship could work out. Great writing style – thanks!
Loved the locations from Newport Beach Balboa Island to Alaska.
Believable characters placed in a tension-filled conflict. Wonderful use of all the senses to bring reader into the environment. Thanks for a wonderful read.
I just love a happy ending and the book was written in a way it just holds you. Love the writer.
What a well written story! Such charming interaction between the characters.
Pretty good read
interesting as have been to several beautiful places in Alaska which were mentioned
