Mason Boone. A former Navy SEAL who lives in isolation in the Alaskan mountains. He’s rugged, untamed…and gorgeous. I’m an FBI agent; he’s a fugitive on his way to prison. But when our plane crashes deep in the Alaskan wilderness, Mason becomes my only hope.To survive the cold, the wild animals and the terrain, we’ll need to stay close. But every time he touches me, I melt inside. He makes me … makes me feel protected like no man ever has and the way he looks at me, as if he just wants to push me up against a tree and rip my clothes off…. Could he be innocent of his crimes and can I help him escape the demons of his past? I’m a city girl but I’ll need to learn to live as wild as him…because the other prisoner from our flight and his gang are out there…and they’re hunting us.

What a fantastic book! It had tons of action and an amazing connection between two strangers who are trying to survive being hunted in the Alaskan wilderness. I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time reading. I fell in love with Boone and respect him for what he went through. Also, the passion between Kate and Boone was amazingly hot.
Honestly, I can’t think of anything bad with this book. I absolutely can see myself rereading this many times.
I haven’t read a good suspense in a while and it was a bonus that it was also a hot romance with an HEA.
Once in a blue moon I have to stop reading a book to take a minute to breathe. This book was a combination of stopping but wanting to rush through the suspense to know what was coming next.
I feel like Kate might have been a little more prepared for the outdoors as an FBI agent than this book implied, but she was still a tough cookie when it came to dealing with bad guys. Boone had a lot going on, and I’m glad that he and Kate were able to work through some of his issues. Great read!
ALASKA WILD was my latest book in my Alaskan Book Reading Quest. This was fast-paced & action-packed from the first page till the last page. A page-turner for sure!
Kate Lydecker was an FBI agent on a mission and had flown from New York all the way to the tiny town of Nome, Alaska. Her mission was to find justice for all the female victims of one dangerous man. She didn’t know that she would run smack dab into a mountain of a very muscled man. Since she was only 5’2” and he was at least 6’4” & she had quite a ways to look up to see his face. He was staring back down at her. His eyes were the same blue as the sky outside. Alaskan Blue. If she’d ever thought about what her exact opposite would be like. Now she knew.
If Kate Lydecker ever thought that would be the last time she would see Mason Boone, than she had no idea what fate had in store for them. They would star gaze under the Northern Lights. Become star-crossed lovers, and have more stars in their eyes than the vast Alaskan sky. This will be on my list of Best Books of 2020!
Mason and Kate were pretty amazing together. I loved how it was just cut and dry getting from point A to point B. The story in the middle was pleasantly surprising. Highly recommend if you are looking for a HEA with more than just insta-love
There were a lot of things in this book that shouldn’t have worked for me. But…I ended up not minding so much…
Plot overview: FBI agent Kate ends up on a prisoner transport plane with Mason, former Navy Seal—now a wanted criminal. Too bad for Kate and Mason that the other prisoners stage a jailbreak that crashes the plane and strands them in the middle of the Alaskan wild.
So, there’s some stuff here that wouldn’t normally fly for me in a romantic suspense. Yes, there’s improbable sexy times while bad guys are closing in on Kate and Mason. Yes, there’s an insta-attraction and connection between Kate and Mason that borders on insta-love. (It toes the line. It never crosses totally over, in my opinion) Yes, some of the situations the couple finds themselves in are not very realistic. But you know what? I didn’t care while I was reading. Because I really liked Kate and Mason.
Kate’s a competent, brave heroine who is simply out of her depth. She’s good at her job, but she’s not equipped the handle a wilderness trek through Alaska. And she’s proud, but not too proud to admit that she can’t save herself from the situation she’s in. She needs Mason. I can’t tell you how much I LOATHE heroines who stubbornly insist they can do everything themselves even when it’s clear they can’t. A smart woman knows when she’s in over her head and isn’t afraid to ask for help. Kate’s a smart heroine.
Mason is a genuinely good guy. He might even qualify for my cinnamon roll hero list. He’s been railroaded for a crime he didn’t commit, but when he has the opportunity to turn on Kate and gain his freedom, he doesn’t. He stays in potentially life-threatening situations to help her. He’s a true alpha hero who isn’t an alphahole, and I love him for it.
And, I have to say…the old “we have to get naked and cuddle to conserve body heat” thing…yes, it’s a cliche, but I still love it. I’m not too proud to admit that. Just because something is cliche doesn’t mean it’s bad.
So, long-story-short, this isn’t a perfect read. It is a little cheesy at times. But is it an enjoyable read? I sure thought so. And who doesn’t like a little cheese every now and then?

The Alaskan setting, the well structured suspense plot and excellent characterisation all add up to make ALASKA WILD a great romantic suspense novel.
Mason Boone and Kate Lydecker were great characters. Their pasts greatly impact the people they are today yet their flaws make them interesting, human and genuinely likeable. Their romance is wonderful! Their strong and heartfelt emotions they have for one another left me in no doubt these two are made for each other.
The suspense elements are incredibly well written; I truly felt I was part of the action, with my heart beating in fear along with Boone’s and Kate’s as they battled their own demons while running from those hunting them.
ALASKA WILD turned out to be quite the page turner. This is my first Helena Newbury book and it certainly won’t be my last.
Great read. Lots of twist and turns.
What a Wild Ride! This was my first Helena Newbury read, but it won’t be my last! Boone and Kate’s non-stop journey of survival, justice, and redemption left me breathless until the end!
This book was very different in its situation. A need to get to a town in Alaska, a request to be a passenger on a prisoner transport plane, a planned escape, and a plane crash should be enough but it is just the beginning of this extremely exciting book. Very good read.
I loved the action in this book. It’s so crazy unrealistic but fun to read. Good to make readers aware of effects of PTSD. That is real!
I loved this book. I immediately looked this writer’s books.
Great book. Will read more from this author.
I loved the story & it was a page turner. My only objection is using Gods name in vain, I think you can get your point across without using such profanity.
Hard to put the book down once I started reading
I have had nightmares regarding the capture and torture of the hero….
Great story, beautiful cover!
I enjoyed the setting as well as the characters in this book: my first for this author, but I will look for more by her.
A Real Surprise! Got me hooked after the first chapter!
Great Read!
Who doesn’t love a story set in Alaska? Wonderful characters, great plot with unexpected twists and turns and one truly despicable bad guy countered by one really great hero and heroine.
