Alabama Rain Holden’s life is a dreadful and dangerous one as a thief of drugs for her father, drug lord Ken Holden. Rain hates her life, but she’s damned good at what she does. As a vampire with an acute sense of smell, she can sniff out any drug as well as a blood hound, enchant the human mule with the goods to be sold and relieve him or her of the product without the person never remembering … remembering the encounter.
One night her drug thievery takes her to Davenport Tower, an opulent forty eight stories of luxury condos owned by the handsome, vampire billionaire, Nate Davenport. Rain’s job that evening is to locate the sellers carrying seventy-five pounds of Columbian weed, steal it and return the goods to her father. Unfortunately, the heist going down in Davenport Tower’s parking garage is interrupted by none other than Nate Davenport himself.
Nate is incensed when he discovers Rain is a drug dealer operating on his turf. He embarks on a mission to catch her committing a crime so he can bring her before a vampire tribunal where she will pay for her crimes with her life. In his efforts to get the evidence Nate needs against Rain, he instead gets information he never bargained for. Once he learns her dark secret, that she’s been brutally forced into this life of crime by her maniacal father, Nate will stop at nothing to liberate her from her feral vampire father.
To survive in a world she hates, Rain adopts a bad ass persona. It doesn’t take Nate long to see the real Alabama Rain’s heart. She’s brave and fearless, kind and compassionate. She even puts her life on the line to save twelve young girls her father has turned into vampire drug dealers. Nate falls for her and hard. But Rain’s seedy, violent world may just cost him his life when Rain’s father discovers Rain and Nate have fallen in love.

I was pleasantly surprised reading this book. I absolutely loved it. It was full of action from start to finish and it was something a little bit different to what I am used to reading. It breathed fresh air into the paranormal genre and I cannot wait to devour the next book and it’s contents.
A real page turner
This was the first book I read for Lana Campbell and I liked it so much. I’m not typically a big fan of vampires, but this book was different. I liked how the vampires blended with humans. I liked the growing sexual chemistry between Nate and Alabama, it was captivating. The author did a remarkable job bringing the two together beautifully. Not only the main characters (Nate and Alabama) were likable, I liked Nate’s mother very much, also Beth and Noah were very likable. I really enjoyed reading this book and it’s a real page-turner.
Rain and Nate’s story is an exercise in faith, as well as wildly swinging emotions. I had to stop and catch my breath in several spots through the story, namely for Ron and Gabby, Destiny, Rain and Nate. I was so worried about Gan’s fortitude several times throughout the book. Rain learned a lesson in faith and miracles, that is for sure. I hope Gan’s story is next.
Another well written installment to the Forever and a Night series! Again MS Campbell has written a novel that grabs you the first page and doesn’t let go until the very last word. Interesting characters that make you feel as though you are part of the story, enhance the novel to the next level.
Rain was a born vampire who had a wonderful life with her brother Gan until their mother was killed when they were teens. Her father turned feral after that and became a notorious drug lord. He trained them to do unspeakable things, ran an empire and turned others into ferals hooked on drugs. He killed and turned teens to work for him as well. Rain stole drugs from another rival drug lord and made a huge mistake! She did it at Davenport Towers and ran into Mia and Nathan’s son Nate. Nate is a powerful billionaire born vampire who runs his father’s empire. He is taken with Rain but cannot abide by what she does. He does discover the truth of things and tries to help her and her brother out~ The things they experience after meeting are inhumane and daunting at best with her father leading the helm once again. Will they ever escape him? Will he ever have to answer for the crimes he commits? In this fifth installment of the series, Ms. Campbell’s Christian faith really shines through as people go from evil incarnate into the grace and mercy of God! This tale will show all that even a feral can be saved under the right circumstances! Nate and Rain are life mates that have a considerably harder time of things than any before them. Come along for their journey and be astonished at what they discover with love and the help of God!
Alabama Rain by Lana Campbell is the 5th book in the Forever and a Night series and can be read as a stand-alone. This was an absolutely fantastic story, it’s dark and gritty and takes place in the underbelly of society. It is full of emotion and powerfully alluring characters that mesmerize. My first thought of the heroine was “what a stupid name”… I quickly changed my tune though, it’s perfect for her. The author has a way with words that makes you feel connected to the characters and their story. I loved the hero too! I can’t think of anything I didn’t like. Even the religious aspect to it… it is tastefully done and not preachy. It was just part of the story. There is a lot of action and adventure, loss, love, hope and redemption. Honestly just a very well rounded captivating story that completely sucks you in.
Very dark but amazing! Alabama Rain by Lana Campbell is book 5 in the Forever and a Night series and what an awesome series it is. Who knew that a diehard historical reader as myself would just love PRN and thanks to Lana I can’t get enough. The thing I love about her writing is that vampires are not to be something to be afraid of and she always adds a bit of christianity to her books. Alabama Rain is a tad darker then the other 4 books but it is absolutely amazing. Her characters Rain and Nate are so well written you can just feel the chemistry between them and this story is defiantly original. It has fetal vamps, kidnappings, rape, abuse, hate, family love, kindness, drug trafficking, protection, trust, fear, pain, love and so much more. This is a must read and if you are a PRN fan as I now am you must add this to your TBR list!!
Gritty paranormal romance.
Christian vampires? Well you know you’re in for a story that is not the norm when you find out some of the main character vampires are Christian. This shows you the depth in which the author goes to make her characters come alive and be real. The author takes her time in every aspect of this book so you are fully aware of what is happening, all the details are quite something else. Great characters, unique story line and a really good follow up book to the Forever and a Night series.
Whats not to love about Alabama Rain? This was my first book I’ve read by Lana and it’s a good thing because now I can’t wait to read the rest of her books! This book was enticing, heart wrenching, liberating, a cry fest and a happy fest. I love the Christian writing!! It’s a genre that’s very neglected. The story isn’t preachy but it gets the message across of who we are as believers. The mash up paranormal romance and theology is brilliant and exciting. The characters are relatable. From the vampire daughter of an ex hippie turned feral drug dealer, or the Christian millionaire you get that these are just people. Lanas take on the vampire culture is one I haven’t come across before. Its more of a disease than a curse or supernatural phenomenon. I love how some drink blood, some have IVs. This is no typical vampire book. It’s more about messed up people with damaged lives that happen to be vampires. Not vampires who happen to go about their lives on the hunt for blood. I love that Rains heart stays soft and compassionate despite the horrible life thats thrust upon her. Nate comes from a Christian family that although can be shrewd and ruthless, are also giving and kind. I really enjoyed getting to know Rain and Nate and her brother Gan (short for something, I don’t want to spoil the surprise). This is a must read and I hope everyone finds hope for their own lives and eternal future after reading this book.
Outstanding book!!!!
I had to think about what I was going to say about this book. Because I love this author and I have read every book she has written. And loved them so much I bought the paperbacks. But this book was outstanding!!!! As soon as I started reading it I was blown away by the detail. And the characters OMG they are amazing. You can tell the author did a lot of research on everything. The drug lords and the detail into how they work was just amazing. And she did this with everything in this book. I could see this as a movie, it was so well written. Alabama and her brother were thrown into this world because of their father. They either did what he said or he would kill them. Their father wasn’t always like this. He went feral when his wife died. Vampires mate for life. Both of the kids wanted to escape. When Alabama meets Nate Davenport she knew there was attraction and so did he. When Nate finds out what her father is forcing her and her brother to do he swears he will save them. Even though he is a Davenport and his family is one of the richest families around. Do not think that it will be easy. Can Nate save her? Can they find the happiness that only true mates have? No way I am going to answer those questions. This book is absolutely the most amazing book I have read in a long time!! It will keep you glued to the pages. At times I felt like I would jump out of my chair. It was action packed, sad, scary, nerve racking and it also can give you hope. Just an amazing book I would highly recommend to anyone!!!!!
Alabama Rain’s storyline was a lot different from the other characters in this series. This book I thought was more gritty and more out there. Different is good. Just when you think this author as overachieved, just wait till the next book. It was really easy to read and follow along. I am looking forward to finding out what’s next with this family of time vampire folks.
