Hudson
Protect and serve.
It was my life’s work to follow in the footsteps of my grandfather, protecting the streets of Austin, Texas. Our home.
Being put on the security detail of my sergeants daughter was never part of the plan.
But then I see her.
Emalynn.
I see the broken in her.
I see how she’s been hurt, cast aside by everyone she’s ever loved.
Someone’s chasing her and it doesn’t matter what I have to do.
I’ll protect her with my life.
The world of justice may have ruled my life before her but I’d break the law in a second if it meant keeping her.
She’s worth the fight.
She’s the air I breathe.
Book 1 in an erotic romantic suspense duet, may contain negative triggers for certain readers.

These are always love hate books. Meaning I love reading them hate waiting to read more. Great story, love the connection the characters have and love the story line. Cant wait for more.
Wow what a incredible story has a love story & mystery all in one! We meet emberly she has a dark past than we meet hot stuff Hudson he’s on security detail protecting em! This is part 1 and we see how they meet and will em give hud a chance? And someone from the ems past is back?
Strong story line, intense drama, and explosive chemistry between the characters carry this book through. Hudson and Em’s story is not an easy one and there are a few pot holes along the way in terms of plot inconsistencies, but overall it is an engaging start to what promises to be a great series.
This was a cute story. It’s the first book I have read by Amanda Kaitlyn, but its certainly not the last! It did start a little slow for me but eventually, I was able to get into it. Em & Hudson has good chemistry together. Since this ends on a cliffhanger, I can’t wait to see what the next story brings these two!
A sweet and romantic story with a suspenseful twist. Hudson and Emberley’s journey is slow to get started, but then things take off and they can’t stay away from one another. Can Hudson protect Emmy when she needs it??? A great story from this author.
When I started this book I was immediately sucked in. Such a great book and I can’t wait to read more from Amanda!
Emalynn Reese is a nurse and stays as far away from relationships as she can after growing up with an abusive father. When it appears that her best friend Aimee may have a stalker, she ends up meeting Hudson Lennox who is partners with Aimee’s boyfriend Tristan.
Hudson Lennox is a police officer but also does extra security work. He is at the hospital to keep Aimee safe but can’t help falling for Emalynn.
As Hudson and Emalynn begin to get closer will Emalynn open up to Hudson about her past? When Emalynn begins to receive threatening notes will Hudson be able to keep her safe?
This was a great beginning to the duet!
I like Emalynn although my heart was so broken for what she went through with her dad and then I was shocked at what else was revealed. I understood why she was so hesitant with relationships and I was curious how she would do with the attention that Hudson was giving her.
I really liked Hudson and how protective he was over Emalynn. I totally got why he flipped at Emalynn when he saw what she had been hiding from him on her phone.
I never saw the twist coming or how everything tied in together. I was so mad at Hudson at the end for lying to Emalynn!!
The end was OMG……
Emberly was a sweet soul with a past that left her broken. She’s one who is loving, but a little guarded. Hudson is a workaholic and takes his position as a cop seriously. I love how Hudson knows Emberly is damaged, and although he tells…and shows…her he wants her, he treats her with respect. He lifts her up and he is willing to let her to give her the time she needs. There were a few holes in the story that left me confused, but I really enjoyed reading about this pair.
Despite jumping around in the beginning…I did like the chemistry that the main characters Emberlee and Hudson had…He was a hot, possessive cop and she was a nurse. There are several things going on with the plot and towards the end the writing flows…so keep with the story. It does end on a cliffhanger, and I plan to check out the next book. I would say if you have a KU membership give it a try!
My first book from this author and I enjoyed very much. The hospital scene with Ashlee and Emberly taking care of the baby almost gutted me. I can relate to that being on the opposite end of the situation.
Well this book had me turning pages faster than ever. Hudson is a cop put on a case to watch his Daughter. Which he did but he also had a partner that came to help him watch her because he was watching Emberly. Emberly stop him in his tracks. He wanted to get to know her but her walls were up and he needed to figure out why she is so loving but her eyes show sadness and fear. Emberly best friend is Ashlee and she and Tristan are a small part of this book. Emberly has a starker that has Ashlee and another coworker looking everywhere. When a car accident happens with Ashlee and Tristan Emberly and Hudson run to the hospital for their friends. Hudson wasn’t paying full attention and the starker got to Emberly and hurt her and Hudson saw RED. He would do anything to protect what’s his. This book has some hot scenes and drama. It is a cliff hanger at the end. Can’t wait for the next one.
I wanted to like this book so much better than I did. The writing was ok but the timelines in the book are just off. Not sure I would read the next one.
Very good story. It was unique with some twists.
I did not anticipate the twists and I can’t wait too see what book 2 has in store for us.
Em and Hudson were sweet. Two people who haven’t had it easy but when they meet sparks fly and it is only a matter of time before they get together.
The book does end on a cliffhanger since it is a duet. I have no idea when part 2 is due out but I will be anxiously awaiting that.
A first book for me from Amanda Kaitlyn.
First book in the series with a cliffhanger at the end, which weaves about a bit over time and in places screams out for more detail. Hudson is a police officer who is asked to protect his Chiefs daughter from a stalker, Emberly is her best friend. When Hudson see’s Emberly for the first time, the sparks between them fly. Emberly however, is a closed book, hurt by an abusive father in her childhood and there is clearly a lot about Emberly that we don’t know at this point. Hudson very soon realises that it’s Emberly that needs his protection not the Chiefs daughter, but Emberly can’t open to him and finds it hard to trust him, and doesn’t tell him much about her past or about who is stalking/threatening her now. Over time Emberly’s trust in Hudson increases however it’s not until her past comes after her that she tells Hudson who is doing this to her. How this ends we have to wait for the next book in the series.
Amanda Kaitlyn wrote an intriguing book that throws you immediately into the angst. You start with young Emmy and the situation her mother and herself are in. You understand the demons she carries with her an you root that Hudson will be the one to take those demons away. Loved this book and look forward to more from this author.
Em is a lonely NICU nurse that screams loneliness. She was a little scattered at times, but who isn’t. Hudson, the cop put on her for security due to a stalker seemed like a bit of a hot head. I wanted to like this book, as the author’s style was very appealing. I just had a lot of trouble keeping stuff straight as the timeline jumped a lot. It also seemed that at first Hudson was supposed to protect Em’s friend and fellow nurse and then he is protecting Em. They met, then it was a month later, then it jumped back to two days after they met. I’m all for flashbacks but I’m not crazy about whiplash flashbacks. By the time I got to the cliffhanger ending, I knew I would have trouble with the review. I rarely score things low as I enjoy a wide range of book styles from insta-love to more intense romantic suspense with a slow buildup and everything in between. Air I Breathe had a lot of potential and I do hope to see this author develop. I see on Amazon that the author is re-releasing this book with the sequel in late August 2018 and I wish her all the best.
This book has the basis to be great, but comes up a little short. The order seems disjointed and sometimes it just leaves you wondering if you missed something. The plot is good and Em and Hudson’s attraction is awesome. It’s the little details that need some work. Like what nurse in the NICU wears heals? I am interested to see what happens with Tristan and Brad.
This book was not what I expected, given the title and reading the synopsis – but it did deliver a story that had suspense and romance mixed in and it left me wanting to pick up the next one because I have to know what happens.
I thought this book was cute. It seemed to be a lot of foreshadowing and hidden parts. There was lots of action and suspense which was also great. The problem for me was how choppy the storyline was. There were some inconsistencies and I didn’t feel like we got to see the characters actually fall in love. They just kind of were in love and then we moved on. Overall not a bad read if you want something quick. There is a cliffhanger at the end though.
This book had promise, but I don’t know that the promise was fulfilled. Emberly (though the blurb calls her Emalynn) came across as too scatterbrained and disjointed for me to believe that she was truly a reliable and successful employee, but okay. Then there were the continuity holes. We jumped from Emberly’s first time meeting Hudson to “one month later” the next chapter, to the chapter after THAT saying that Hudson had been around her for two days, not a month. If there’s one thing I really can’t get around in a book, it’s easily edited inconsistencies like timelines. Hudson was okay, but he had inconsistencies also, and I found it difficult to remain interested in their story. I did want to know if my suspicions about the stalker were correct, so I powered through.
I admire the author’s willingness to delve into difficult subjects (there are some triggers to be found here), but I wish we’d had a smoother trail to follow from the third or fourth chapter to the end of the book. Also, this does end in a cliffhanger. I have to be honest, I don’t know that I’ll like how Emberly and Hudson’s story works out, but I’ll still try to read the next book, if only to feel like I finished their journey.
