Ain’t She Sweet? Not exactly . . .The girl everybody loves to hate has returned to the town she’d sworn to leave behind forever. As the rich, spoiled princess of Parrish, Mississippi, Sugar Beth Carey had broken hearts, ruined friendships, and destroyed reputations. But fifteen years have passed, and life has taught Sugar Beth its toughest lessons. Now she’s come home—broke, desperate, and too … and too proud to show it.
The people of Parrish don’t believe in forgive and forget. When the Seawillows, Sugar Beth’s former girlfriends, get the chance to turn the tables on her, they don’t hesitate. And Winnie Davis, Sugar Beth’s most bitter enemy, intends to humiliate her in the worst possible way.
Then there’s Colin Byrne. . . . Fifteen years earlier, Sugar Beth had tried to ruin his career. Now he’s rich, powerful, and the owner of her old home. Even worse, this modern-day dark prince is planning exactly the sort of revenge best designed to bring a beautiful princess to her knees.
But none of them have reckoned on the unexpected strength of a woman who’s learned survival the hard way.
While Sugar Beth’s battered heart struggles to overcome old mistakes, Colin must choose between payback and love. Does the baddest girl in town deserve a second chance, or are some things beyond forgiving?
Ain’t She Sweet? is a story of courage and redemption. . . of friendship and laughter. . . of love and the possibility of happily-ever-after.

I’m a sucker for anything “Southern”, and this book absolutely rocked it. Phillips built flawed, unique characters, and then threw them into unusual situations. There’s just enough drama and hardship to make the laugh-out-loud moments that much richer.
My third re-read of this wonderful book that has it all.
Enemies to lovers.
Snarky, witty dialogue.
Intelligent and interesting characters.
I love it!
Sugar Beth Carey is going back to the town she’d left in the dust and it isn’t going to be easy. Once the belle of Parrish High, Sugar Beth ruled with an arrogance only the most powerful can employ. She dated the hottest guy, had the coolest friends, and belittled anyone- especially that Winnie Davis- that stood in her way.
Now it was all going …
Amazing as usual! I love SEP!
Wonderful and an easy read
One of my all time favorites.
I like all of her books.
depend on Phillips to make you laugh out loud. Loved it!
Small town rich bitch, Sugar Beth Carey, broke and a three-time loser, returns home in search of a piece of art that will assure financial security for her and her adopted family. Years before, young and self-centered, she’d broken hearts, and ruined a young teacher’s reputation on her the way out of town. But that man, Colin Bryne, now a …
I bought this book back in the day when there was a Borders near my home. Such a joy – I could buy books by the US authors I loved. SEP was an autobuy for me, ever since I’d picked up the first of her Chicago Stars books at a charity shop. A rare find, since the only place to buy her books in the UK back then, was in London. So, I picked up Ain’t …
Arguably the best book ever written. If you want to laugh and feel all the feels then read this book. And when you’re done do yourself a favor and read every book SEP has ever written.
I love Susan Elizabeth Phillips, so we can just get that cleared up right now. This one, however, is my favorite! As a southern girl myself, I can see that she captured all the machinations that go with it, and what it takes to break out of those holds. Sugar Beth (such a southern name!) and Colin are one of the very best redemption stories out …
I’d recommend anything by this author.
Phillips never fails to deliver!
This was a little hard to read in parts, because it turned a light on the pettiness that lives in all of us. But I loved Sugar Beth’s ability to be a grown up in the face of other’s failure to do so, and to see that people can learn to be better, even if only between the pages of a book for starters. Great book!
All time favorite
Excellent read!
Love every book Susan Elizabeth Philips writes, she just doesn’t write them fast enough.
One of SEP’s best
Never miss one of her books. Always a good read.
