“This is a great idea.” Aiden had jumped up, fist punched the air, and yelled, “That’s how we do it! BAM!”It stuck. Our initials, our ideas, our brand. My brothers.Three young men meet in university and form a lifelong friendship. Their pasts dictate the men they are, but their present shapes their future. What happens when these men meet the one person they are destined to be with? Can they … to be with? Can they fight their feelings and walk away? Aiden
Haunted by memories of his past, Aiden plays the part of the happy-go-lucky friend. Always ready with a teasing smile or a joke, he is good at hiding his pain.
Using his impressive physique as a shield, he keeps his past buried beneath his rugged exterior.
Except, one woman sees through his façade.
Her green eyes see too much, even as her body tempts him.
Even as his heart yearns for her.
Cami is determined to make him realize that he is worthy of being loved.
He pushes her away at every turn, yet finds himself unable to keep her at arm’s length.
Who will win this battle of love?

The start to Aiden’s story is so sad. Tough on the outside, broken on the inside, Aiden Callaghan had a horrific childhood. He wears a mask that’s almost to hard to break through. He and Cami Wilson have an understanding- straight sex, no emotional attachment. But that’s not always so easy. A nice mix of the gang and a touch of mystery. A little predictable but a sweet romance nonetheless, Aiden and Cami’s story in the Vested Interest Series is enjoyable. I look forward to the next one – Vested Interest: Maddox.
5 star Review Aiden (Vested Interest #2) by Melanie Moreland
Melanie Moreland drew me into the story from the first page; I kept thinking just one more chapter. I loved the characters of Aiden and Cami and all the secondary ones and having already read Bentley and now Aiden, I know that this is going to be one of my favourite series of 2018.
The story was well written, engaging and it was great to see the growth of both the main characters as the book evolved. Aiden is such a tortured character, always putting on an act, the life of the party, never wanting anyone to see below the surface. He feels unworthy of being loved and Cami is bound and determined to show him how much he deserves to be loved and to love.
I really didn’t want to start this book as I have been anticipating reading Aiden since I finished Bentley (who is mine). Ms. Moreland well and truly delivered a story that had me engrossed from start to finish and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book.
There is so much to love about her characters, the depth and layers that she weaves throughout her stories reminds me of peeling an onion, layer by layer and Aiden was just such a book.
The friendships between Aiden, Bentley and Maddox is truly heartfelt, the love , laughter and obvious care they have for one another is swoon worthy in and of itself, as is the friendships of Cami, Emmy and Dee and you have a group of people anyone would be proud to call friends.
I cannot wait to read Maddox.
Melanie Moreland certainly has a hit series on her hands with Vested Interest, just when you think it can’t get any better she throws us another great read about the men from BAM.
Aiden is the man that everyone see’s as the life and soul of the party but that’s what he wants us to see, he doesn’t want the outside world really knowing the man behind the mask, a mask he wears so well. Aiden is your typical alpha, strong, broody, protector and very loyal but does anyone really know him and will he ever let a woman see the real man.
Cami is the woman we would all love to be, strong, sassy, funny. kind and caring but she has fallen for the one man who won’t let her get close, the man that is so intent on fighting his own demons he doesn’t see what’s in front of him that is until the tables are turned and this normally strong woman is in danger.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, it will have you rooting for a hea for Aiden and Cami because they are both realistic characters that need each other. This author got the perfect mix of love and tension in Aiden and Maddox can’t come soon enough for me. Great series, great book.
4.5 stepping into the sunshine Stars!
****1/2
What happens when the girl of your dreams is there for the taking, but you can’t reach out to her? What happens when your future is headed in the right direction but the nightmares of your past are keeping you stuck? How can you listen to your two best friends, but not hear what they are saying?
And thus we see the inner conflict of our main character Aiden in Melanie Moreland’s latest installment in her Vested Interest Series.
We first met Aiden in Melanie Moreland’s book Bentley (the first book in her Vested Interest Series). He is one of three men who meet while attending college and develop a lifelong friendship that is more like family than being friends. Aiden has had a very difficult and extremely troubling upbringing. To say his past was rough is putting it mildly. A past that continues to haunt him and shape who he is. A past that is making it difficult to have a future. And then Emmy enters Bentley’s life and along with her comes two sisters…..Cami and Dee. Cami is the youngest and the best friend of Emmy. Cami’s draw to Bentley’s friend, Aiden is undeniable. Maybe it’s the fact that they both had troubled upbringings. Maybe it’s the fact that Cami is the sunshine and light that Aiden craves but doesn’t know how to achieve. Maybe it’s because Cami’s soul is drawn to Aiden on such a level that her soul sees what Aiden needs and what he could be. And so begins a “tug of war” of sorts as Cami and Aiden begin the dance of love. Cami trying to pull Aiden into the light, and Aiden resisting because he feels he is not worthy.
At first when I started to read this book, I wanted to throw Aiden “under the bus.” Why couldn’t he see what a wonderful girl Cami was? And I wanted to throttle Cami. Why was she continuing to be there for Aiden when he was being such a prick? But that is the beauty of Melanie Moreland’s writing! Yes, it was her writing that made me feel this way about these characters, and as I continued to read and saw the depth of what made these characters who they are, I grew to love both Aiden and Cami for what they had overcome.
Melanie knows how to deliver and in Aiden that is exactly what she does. The conversations are clever and engaging and flow with the ease of a well-oiled machine. You understand where these characters are coming from as she walks you down their path of life. She knows how to add the right amount of romance, steaminess, angst, and mystery and then backdrops it with an amazing story. A perfect combination if I do say so myself.
I didn’t think a man could take my heart since Richard VanRyan (yup, he’s in Melanie’s book The Contract, sorry about that one Bentley). But Aiden definitely took it with this latest installment in the Vested Interest Series!! But who knows? Maybe Maddox will unseat him. We’ll know in August 2018.
An Advanced Reader Copy was graciously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
He’s the life of the party when everyone’s around. Aiden knows how to turn on the charm and make the whole world his stage, but when the lights tone down and the crowds disappear his demons continue to haunt and push him around. Cami brings light into an often dark place. She sees the shadows that linger in his eyes and longs to rescue his soul. Can the boy that nobody wanted become the man she needs him to be? A broken heart, a damaged soul and an unlikely heroine light up the night with compassion and romance. Moreland fires up the senses with some wicked temptation and heartfelt motivation. Inspiration is only an alpha away.
