When Tilly has to switch to private school, where she was sure everyone hated her from the start, she got a cold stare from the other students. They knew immediately that the new girl did not fit in. So no one welcomed her.
Tilly had not been prepared for the sudden move and the drastic change in her life. She was a senior with plans for the future and tons of friends. She went home on a Friday and her mom announced her pending marriage plan, to a man Tilly had not even met yet, and said they would move across the state by Monday – oh, and she was attending her new private school on Monday! She hadn’t even had a chance to say goodbye to her friends. She would miss prom and never get that kiss from her current crush. So she locked herself in her room, put on her headphones, and cried at all she had just lost.
After the juice incident, Tilly got up and left school. Her mother’s directions got her lost and she had to hail a cab to find her way to their new home. She asked the driver if he was sure this was the place, since it looked like a colosseum in Rome! A maid answered the door and rushed her up to her new room to unpack before dinner. But suddenly the door opened and the rude classmate walked in without knocking. He was stunned to see her in “his home”. And he blamed her treatment at school on the fact she didn’t tell him who she was. They were both tense in the dining room and James left without eating.
Tilly had been there months now, and she looked good with the changes she had made in her appearance. Sam, James’ friend, had come over for game night and stayed for several more since it was summer. He was admiring Tilly from James’ bedroom window and, when James couldn’t talk him out of going down to the pool to see her, the two of them headed down together. When Tilly ignored Sam’s flirting, he insulted her and was stunned when James snapped at him that he should not do that. Sam grinned and accused him of liking her more than just a sister. After that, James avoided her completely until the evening of their parents’ wedding.
Sam approached Tilly and said he had something to show her. She told him no funny business, she just wanted to see what he had said she would enjoy. But once in the woods, he grabbed her. She pushed away and tried to find her way back to the reception, but was lost. Same returned and told James that Tilly was probably back at the celebration. Then he urged James to follow him to the fireworks they had set up for midnight. He assured James that no one was in the woods, so it was perfectly safe. The last large cannon fired, but failed to go into the air like the others. Instead, like a torpedo, it fired into the woods. James heard the scream and raced into the woods to find an injured Tilly. She looked up at him, and then fell into unconsciousness! How badly was she injured? Would she ever forgive him for the burns and suffering?
This is a well-written book that just flowed off the page. The story line was really good. I loved James and Tilly’s characters and the emotions the reader feels between them. The story itself is emotional, with enough drama and tension to keep the reader fully engaged in the outcome. Everything moves at a perfect pace and I am sure you will enjoy reading it as I did.
I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the story line and the characters. It is an easy quick read.

Fast paced, but a cute story. He’s kind of a jerk and she just lets things roll off her back. Then something happens and they get closer. A short read, but I really enjoyed it! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Decent storyline, well developed characters evolving, and then it was over. It seemed as if this book was rushed at the end. It started with Tilly and James being in high school, and then with no bridge, they found their HEA. Overall, I did enjoy the material that was there, but I think many plots and characters should have been expanded.

A$$hole Stepbrother I think not!!
Well maybe James was at first but that quickly changed. Tilly’s mom shocked her one day after returning home from school, they were moving and she was getting married. Her first day at her new school went as expected, lousy. She meets a hot guy during first period and the same hot guy dumps her drink down her shirt at lunch. Next thing the same guy walks into her new room in her new house and asks what she is doing in his house. The look on James’ face when he sees her in his house, priceless!!
I actually liked the story. James and Tilly started off on the wrong foot but glad they grew from there. I only wish there would have been more interaction with the parents and what they thought of their relationship. But I enjoyed it and will be reading the rest of the books.

Tilly accidentally gets burned by James. The burns were intentional on Sam’s part. Tilly still has burn scars, but in the end, it does not seem to matter. James and Tilly find love together.
