Age of Secrets (The Druid’s Brooch Series Book 8)
By Christy Nicholas
5 out of 5 stars
The story Age of Secrets (The Druid’s Brooch Series Book 8) by Christy Nicholas is a wonderful book that I loved reading. It pulled me in from the beginning and I found myself lost in the storyline and characters. I enjoyed reading about Fingin and his companions, Bran the dog, and Sean the donkey. Fingin has been sent on a journey by a powerful woman to find his grandmother. Fingin and his companions overcome many obstacles to find the correct path and at times there is danger. When Fingin finds his grandmother, he finds that things are not as they seem and that nothing is working out as it should have. What will happen when he gets mixed up in a power struggle and battle? What does the future hold for Fingin? Read this book to find out. This story is exciting to read and had my turning pages as I just had to know what happened next. I love the bond that Fingin and his companions have and how they look out for each other. Fingin is a likable character and I found myself wanting him to succeed and find happiness in life. Many other characters are introduced and some of them are helpful and then some are only out for themselves and what they want. I found this book to be entertaining and written in such a way that I felt like I right there with the characters. I would recommend reading this story.
Age of Secrets: Druid’s Brooch Series: #8 by Christy Nicholas
4 out of 5 stars
This is the eighth novel in the Age of Secrets series. Nicholas is a masterful storyteller and never fails to weave both a suspenseful drama and yet one of both intrigue and fantasy. I love a story with a dog, and Bran the dog is probably one of my most favorite characters in this book. Fingin is sent on a fantastic journey, courtesy of Bran and a quite strange woman in a cottage, to find his grandmother. The problem, this grandmother may not actually exist, at least not in the way you and I understand the word exist.
Bran is in danger as the world around is him growing to hate him and his kind. He embarks on his journey with Bran the dog and Sean…the donkey. This book is equal parts mystical, romantical, mysterious, dangerous and one hundred percent a page-turner. I have loved all of Nicholas’ novels and this one did not disappoint me in the least. Highly recommended for lovers of the mystery, paranormal and dystopian genres.
Age of Secrets: Druid’s Brooch Series: #8 by Christy Nicholas, is a delightful book. Reading this book was pure enjoyment. It’s a slowed motion kind of book and you really get to know Fingin. It’s like he becomes a really good friend because you know about his past and you know how he’s living now. The story develops at a slow pace so that you become familiar with all the other characters and their places of importance in Fingin’s life. A story so well-written you feel like you’re right there with him on his journey. Through his quest he finds purpose in life and I especially like this quote from the book…”Friends who make one forget self-loathing are treasures beyond that of gold or silver.” If you need a breath of fresh air this is a book you’re really going to love.

4-Stars
Age Of Secrets (Druid’s Brooch Series Book 8) by Christy Nicholas was an awesome adventure. It took me a few chapters to really get pulled into the story but once pulled in, I couldn’t stop reading. I loved the interesting names and different culture of the characters. I also loved the authors creativity that was evident in the way the story was written. The main character Fingin was developed well and unique. I loved reading about him and his grandmother. I also loved Bran, the wolfhound. This was a creative and wonderful story with a beautiful cover. I enjoyed reading this novel.
I don’t read many novels of this genre but I will be checking out more books from Christy Nicholas now that I’ve read this book.
Its a book with a comfortable vibe to it, its pace is steady and I loved the descriptions that Christy Nicholas used to really set the scene. The characters are complex and I think its easy to relate to the main character Fingin who feels like hes an outsider in life and takes comfort and peace in the shape of a dog called Bran. A great insight to the relationship of man and mans best friend.
A feel good read and good if you’re looking something a little different.
Age of Secrets is the eighth book in the Druid’s Brooch series. It can be read as a standalone, but the whole series thus far has been superb so it is worth reading the previous books.
As always, the world building is superb. You feel like you are right there with the characters. The author has a stellar way of mixing things together that make the story believable, even though there are magical elements to it.
Age of Secrets has enough drama, adventure, danger, and romance in it to keep you glued to the pages until the very end. It is a fantastic read to help you escape reality for a bit.
What a fantastic storyline with an incredible storyline. I wasn’t surprised how good this novel was as I’ve read the other’s and each one has left me wanting more. I highly recommend reading the other’s first you will be missing out if you don’t! I was fully engrossed in this story I just couldn’t pull myself away I was just eager to turn the pages to find out what happens next
I give Age of Secrets (The Druid’s Brooch Series 8) by Christy Nicholas, 5 stars.
If you have been reading the series, you have been following the path of the brooch and what powers the current owner of the brooch gains. The powers Fingin gains are my favorite so far and this book itself is my favorite in the series. I really like Fingin. He has had to endure so much in his life, but he doesn’t seem to have a moment’s peace. Just when he thinks he has settled down to a normal life, he is sent on a journey that is both treacherous and thrilling. He learns how much more there is to life and what he really wants out of it. The author has yet again woven a fantastic world set in Ireland, long before it was known as such. She does a perfect job of making you feel like you are there. The secondary characters just add more flavor into the mix. They are not necessarily your normal secondary characters, but you will love them all the same. And this book, it just wouldn’t fit in the series if there wasn’t some magic in it. Well, Fingin gets to experience more than he ever imagined. But he stays strong through everything. He has a big heart and cares about his friends, he must endure for them. But just how much can he take?
If you are a fan of a magical series with strong characters on a journey of a lifetime, this book and series is for you. It can be read as a standalone, but I suggest reading them all since they are so good.
Age of Secrets is the eight book in Christy Nicholas’ The Druid’s Broach series. The series takes us to different points in the history of Ireland, following the brooch as it is passed through the generations and the magic that accompanies it. Each story focuses on a different character in the brooch’s journey, and rather than moving chronologically through the series the books jump between different periods in history.
Age of Secrets is set in the 6th Century. Early Christianity is turning people against magic, which has put young Fingin in a lot of danger. He can never stay in one place for too long before people become suspicious of him, with a speech impediment setting him apart and making it hard for him to defend himself. Fortunately, he is not alone as Fingin is able to communicate with animals and has his friends Bran, a dog, and Sean, a donkey. He also has the help of the goddess Brigit, who has tasked him with finding his grandmother.
This is a wonderful, magical adventure book. It will particularly appeal to fans of talking animals. As the books are not chronological, the series can be read out of order and this book works as a standalone, but it really is a great series exploring various different kinds of magic and points in history.
For me, this is a five-star read. It’s engaging, with vivid descriptions and loveable characters.

This is the only author that can write this genre and keep me reading for 8 books. I get confused a lot while reading these stories but it doesn’t last long and the scenery while being on the journeys with these characters is like a dream to me.
Each one of these can be read as standalones but you’d be missing out on some awesome writing if you did that.
This one has us journeying with Fingin on his quest to find his grandmother. What he goes through on this quest had me yelling would you watch what you’re doing at my kindle. I loved the addition of Bran and Sean and the part they played in Fingins journey. When Grandma is finally located Fingin realizes things aren’t what he remembered or expected.
This is an awesome story, its up there as one of my favorites of the whole series. I can not recommend this author enough, you can almost smell and feel the surroundings while you’re reading and truly feel like you are right there along for the ride.
5 stars!
I love this series. This is not my typical genre but ever since I have started this series, I have been completely invested. The details of the adventures, the way the story is told and how each character is described really makes me feel like I am inside the story with them. In this book we meet Fingin and his 2 companions Sean and Bran. They are on a journey to find Fingin’s grandmother who may or may not be real. The friendships that are forged, the adventures that are had, the obstacles they face, make for an awesome story that you will not want to stop. This book can be read as a stand alone but honestly starting from the beginning is the best and it is completely worth it.
Age of Secrets: Druid’s Brooch Series: #8
by Christy Nicholas
Another great story from a very talented author. I have been reading this series from the beginning and I have loved every story including this one. The attention to detail and the wonderful adventure that I’m taken on is amazing. This book has great characters in it that are at times in danger as they embark on their journey. To find out how Fingin and his friends’ journey ends then you must read this story. This book can be read as a standalone, that being said I suggest you read all of them because each of them are great reads. I highly recommend this book.

4 Stars!!!!
Eighth time another charm! The series just keeps getting better. I really think the author has such a great world she has built. I love to delve into the supernatural world of the fae. I like how the author uses old Irish folklore and fae. The books really get your attention and keep you hooked.
I felt like each character really just added more and more. I like how the author ties in the mortal realm and the Fae. This series is so unique and I find that it helps to sooth my history craving as well. I felt as though I was back in druid times with the characters and going through all the motions. I definitely will read more from this author in the future.
Age of Secrets by Christy Nicholas is the eight book in the Druid’s Brooch series. This can be read as a standalone but I think once you read it you will want to read the entire series. The stories all interconnect but not a series which picks up from the last sentence of the previous book. This has romance, fantasy, action, suspense, and lots of twists and turns. Fingin is by himself until he is sent on a mysterious quest to find his grandmother. His only companions are Bran (a dog) and Sean (a donkey). What they find on the path of the quest makes FIngin question everything he thought he understood. I really enjoy this series because it allows the reader to escape the reality of today and take an adventure elsewhere.

This is the 8th book in this series. I have read other stories in this series, and I really enjoyed them. This book is no exception. I loved the characters and the journey that the were on and the twists along the way. Christy Nicholas does a wonderful job of creating and transporting us to a new world. I cannot wait to see what happens next!
I have been following the Druid’s Brooch Series from the beginning and I have thoroughly enjoyed the collection. I love how these books always manage to take me away to a far away land and forget about things for awhile, something I am sure we all could use a little more of in our lives right now. In Age of Secrets we get the eighth story of the series and the tale is as sweet and adventurous as you can get. I think you would be fine to read this as a stand alone novel if you wanted but the rest of the series is just as delectable so why not give it a go? I really adored these cast of characters! We meet Fingin at a difficult time in his life. He is sent on a quest to find his grandmother and accompanied by the lovable sidekicks, Bran the dog, and Sean the donkey. I loved how I felt a bit younger and carefree as I read his adventure even when things get a bit tense for him on the journey. I can’t wait to find out what will come next from Christy Nicholas. I would be happy with more of the Druid’s Brooch books but also excited to see what else she has floating in her creative mind!
Druid”s Brooch Series by Christy Nicholas is one of my favorite series. I recommend the entire series as the characters and storylines are engaging and adventurous. This book is no different. The character development makes you feel like you know them personally. In Age of Secrets Christy NIcholas has two unusual characters Bran, who happens to be a dog, and Sean who is a donkey. They are on the adventure with Fingin. This group goes through some twists and turns. Fingin is on an adventure to find his Grandmother. The problem is that his Grandmother may not exist in the world where he is looking for her. I will warn you that you may not put this book down once you start reading it.

Yet again another wonderfully detailed and creative book from this author! I have really enjoyed the series so far so was looking forward to the newest instalment and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Fingin’s story was really fun and interesting to read – I thought I knew what was going to happen but there were some nice twists in the story which kept me hooked from beginning to end. I loved the adventure and magic in the story I was easily lost in what I was reading. The authors writing never fails to transport me in to the world in which she is writing about – fantastic world and character building!
Lovers of fantasy reads will not go wrong by reading this book and the series! I highly recommend this vividly detailed read to everybody!
This series from Nicholas has proven to be a must read and this latest installment lives up to its predecessors. Age of Secrets is the eighth book in the Druid’s Brooch Series by Christy Nicholas. It is a fantastic fantasy- with magic, adventure, paranormal elements, drama, action, romance, family, friendship, danger, battles, obstacles, and some mystery.
I always love the attention to detail and vividly descriptive storytelling that Ms. Nicholas has proven to excel at- as it brings her stories to life and makes them very realistic, believable, and entirely captivating. I can always count on her to deliver a really well written tale. Each book in the series is fascinating in its own right, but then when you read a few, you begin to realise that each one contributes a fragment to a wonderful Tapestry. But, be prepared to have each book draw you in and get you invested in the story and characters, right from the beginning.
Fingin hasn’t had things easy, and things get even more complicated when he is sent on a quest to find his grandmother. Along with his dog Bran, and Sean the donkey- they set off on an adventure which will test them in many ways. Things don’t go quite according to plan- and things are definitely not what they seem.
If you love fantasy, lonely outcasts, magic, adventure, and wonderful animal friends- then you really shouldn’t miss this story!
This adventure is a wonderful addition to the series.
Thank you, Ms. Nicholas!
