The Industrial Revolution has escalated into all-out warfare. It has been eighteen years since the Heterodyne Boys, benevolent adventurers and inventors, disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Today, Europe is ruled by the Sparks, dynasties of mad scientists ruling over — and terrorizing — the hapless population with their bizarre inventions and unchecked power, while the downtrodden dream … dream of the Hetrodynes’ return.
At Transylvania Polygnostic University, a pretty, young student named Agatha Clay seems to have nothing but bad luck. Incapable of building anything that actually works, but dedicated to her studies, Agatha seems destined for a lackluster career as a minor lab assistant. But when the University is overthrown by the ruthless tyrant Baron Klaus Wulfenbach, Agatha finds herself a prisoner aboard his massive airship Castle Wulfenbach — and it begins to look like she might carry a spark of Mad Science after all.

Based on the award winning graphic novel by the same authors, Agatha H and the Airship City is a steampunk romp through a collection of puns, adventure, and well crafted silliness. You will laugh if you read this book. If you are a fan of the Graphic Novel you will want to read this if just for the footnotes as well as background and depth for …
A great summer read for all ages…I am 71.
I love this series. I highly recommend the audible edition. So so good.
I used to read the web comic and picked this up to sort of “reread” it. As with anything Girl Genius related, if you like Steampunk this is your one-stop shop. If you don’t, you might still enjoy the novelization for it’s fast-paced story and wit.
The web comic is full of snark, and one thing I loved about the book is how it adapted everything …
First in the Agatha H novel series. Based on the really great web comic, “Girl Genius”. The novelization is written by one of the main authors of the web comic, so you know he got it just right.
It’s an origin story with immediate history, deeper background and “present events”. But none of it seems like an info dump. All of the discovered or …
Love the Comic and enjoyed the Novelization.
If you haven’t been following the adventures of Agatha H, GIRL GENIUS, then where have you been? This book almost singlehandedly started the steampunk revolution, and then some!
Also available as a free webcomic, this is a faboo comic book series that’s also in print and audiobook – if you love whimsical characters and fantastic settings, can’t …
This was a great tie-in to the original webcomic Girl Genius. It’s been a long time since I read the original story, but it did seem like this had a few elements added to help tie this to the later story. It’s quite a fun read, especially if you’ve read the comic, but it does lack the awesome background imagery and facial expressions from the …
Hold onto your hats, readers, because this is going to be an interesting ride! I read this book based on the recommendation of a friend, and I entered into it with some hesitation. I can’t say that I would have picked it up on my own, but I’m really glad I did.
The story is based off the webcomic Girl Genius. This fantasy-filled story takes us to …
Good. Maybe the next will be even better.
These imaginative steampunk novels by the Foglios are adapted from their incredibly popular “Girl Genius” visual novels. The translation to prose is almost perfect.
Steam Punk is a new genre for me, and I had no real expectations going in – I was looking for a light, quick read after some heavy non-fiction. I got much more than I expected! The story held my interest from the beginning, and kept up a good pace throughout. The characters kept me engaged, and interested in pursuing the story. The authors managed …
IMO, Not a “page-turner”; an original idea with touches of many story-lines we who read a lot know. Mainly just didn’t grab me with the characters or the storyline. I see this is a series with many, many novels in it, so others must like it. Oh well.
Sadly, this was not as good a read as I’d hoped. Honestly, I couldn’t even get halfway through it.
