My name is Anna Dawson, and I’m a gambler. And like any gambler will tell you, sometimes that’s good, and sometimes…not so much. And sometimes it’s an outright problem.I love Vegas, and I love the life I’ve built, but when one of my friends is murdered, and another one shot at, I know I need to take a serious look at myself. And I need to call in the big guns. Even if that means teaming up with … Even if that means teaming up with Detective Jack Schiller, a man who’s battling his own demons.
Right now I’m just trying to juggle protecting my friends, helping Jack while not letting him get too close, and finding a murderer. And, oh yeah, no one can learn about my gambling.
Or this will be the last hand I’m dealt.

Very slow plot. Not well written and hard to follow story line. Not interesting.
Leads you into the world of a professional gambler for better or worse. Great read: makes you want more.
Not a gambler so found it educational re betting etc, but made me realize what an addition gambling is; had experience with alkie ex but had no idea how physically dangerous gambling still is, thought it was a mob-day thing.
I look forward to another book from this author!
Enjoyable read

I enjoyed this light read. Will definitely follow this author.

I love those smart girls
very shallow material.
This book is a good read. In some respects, it is a very ” dark” novel that provides interesting insights into both self-destructive human behavior and the impact that illegal gambling can have on collegiate sports in this country. Although the plot might have pushed the limits of credibility toward the end of the book, the Author realistically …
Interesting characters. Never know about the inside world of gambling.
Liked the characters very much – dark but loving – interesting combination.
Loved this book, the world of professional poker playing, Las Vegas from a new angle, the way the concept of brinkmanship in poker truly came alive. The characters are nice, too. So often, I get half-way through a book and realize I don’t care a hoot about the plot or the people. Not so with “Against the Odds.” It was lovely to keep on reading and …
Terrific, terrific, terrific! Unique protagonist and storyline, well-plotted, well-written, very vivid characters and an extra little kicker at the end. Anna Dawson is a professional gambler in Las Vegas, emotionally supported by a non-traditional “family”.” She finds herself battling a seemingly insurmountable gambling debt with an onerous …
