The perfect man for me is the one who broke my heart. #thanksbutnothanksOnce bitten.Twice shy.Yeah, I wish.I’m on a mission to find myself a nice, solid, respectable man. The only problem is nice, solid, and respectable comes in a meh package and is B-O-R-I-N-G as hell. It’s been established. I have one type. Bad Boy. I tried the other flavors, I really did. But there’s nothing like the allure of … there’s nothing like the allure of a man who takes what he wants without apology.
As if my love life isn’t dramatic enough, Dean Bennett walks into my life again thinking he’s going to win me back with his charm and charisma. He might come in a different package, but under that expensive suit he’s still the same cocky, arrogant, pompous prick who only cares about numero uno.
I’m not that naïve young girl anymore so I have to ignore the fact that the way he looks at me practically sets my panties on fire.
Everyone deserves a second chance to right a wrong. The problem? He’s not just an ex-boyfriend…
He’s my ex-husband.

Another Piper Rayne book…..YES please!!! This is the second book in the Charity Case series and one that you definitely want to read and won’t be able to put down. Chelsea is the fiesty, sassy cousin of Skylar from Break the Ice and the one woman who can bring Dean Bennett to his knees. Dean is the dirty talking, domineering, sexy ex that Chelsea left behind to start her life over. But what happens when the one person you thought was out of your life for good happens to be the new tax lawyer for the new company you work for??? Tempers will rise but so do the sparks that Chelsea thought were only dying embers. This second chance romance had me hating Dean Bennett, but in true Piper Rayne fashion, that didn’t last long and if anything he is now top of the list. Dean Bennett was one swoon-worthy sexy man that will hopefully win over Chelsea but you as well! Hold on to your hearts because they may not belong to you for long if Dean has anything to say about it! “It’s not as simple as a princess fairy tale, but it’s an epic love story none the less.”
A beautiful second chance story. It was a passionate love story, mixed with deep feels that had me tearing up, and moments that had me laughing out loud. So sexy and swoony!!!! The growth of the characters and the way they came together again was fantastic to witness.
This one was really great. I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
I didn’t love Chelsea in the first book, but being in her head allowed me to like her character a lot more. I loved getting to see some more of Victoria, Reed, and Jade…and also Hannah, and the silver fox. We got to meet some of Chelsea’s family, and I thought they were pretty good overall with one obvious exception.
Don’t even get me started on Dean, because I could talk about him for this entire review; I loved him that much. We saw snippets of his past self, and he definitely wasn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination…but the man he was in the book, sign me up! He definitely changed for the better, and this book really showed how committed he was to getting Chelsea back. He was an absolute sweetheart. He remembered her favorite things, he went above and beyond to try and show her he was all in, etc.
The epilogues in this series lead readers neatly into the next book, and I got to say, I can’t wait to read the third book! That ending had me super interested, and wanting to know what happens next ASAP! Check out this duo’s writing if you love funny, sweet romances with a bit of a naughty side.
This was a great story about how people can change from being young and dumb to someone amazing when given a chance to show you. This was a great story I couldn’t put it down.
Afternoon Delight is an emotional sexy second chance romance! Ashley @ White Hot Reads
Piper Rayne’s dictionary just got bigger by one more aka Afternoon Delight with Chelsea and Dean.
Chelsea had her heart broken by her ex-husband. When she un-expectantly walks into his office to give him the paper work from RISE the chemistry that was there when they first met is still strong. There are lots of old feelings and issues that must be dealt with before she can even think about Dean other than her ex. Will Chelsea be able to let go of the past and let Dean back in? This was a great weekend read that I could not put down. This book was sexy, romantic, sassy, emotional and entertaining. Defiantly a delight to read! I cannot wait to read the next in the series.
Great story
This was a well written story about a second chance romance. Loved the storyline and how the story progressed.
This is the second book in yet another brilliant series from Piper Rayne Charity Case. They always manage to bring us a great storyline and characters that draw you in and keep you captivated from beginning to end. It can be read as a standalone but why would you not want to read the previous book or any other books from this dynamic duo.
Second chance romances are one of my guilty pleasures and they have given me a great one. Chelsea is trying to rebuild her life after divorcing her alcoholic husband, Dean, 5 years previously when she runs into him unexpectedly and finds the man she left behind gone and a different one in his place. Dean has his life together and is a Lawyer.
Can Dean prove to Chelsea that he has changed and break down her walls. She was the love of his life.
Piper Rayne know how to write the perfect blend of angst mixed with swoon and humour.
I can’t wait to see what this brilliant duo bring us with the next book in the series and Hannah’s story.
4.5 Stars
I’ve been waiting for this one since I found out Chelesa was going to be part of this series. I liked her right away when we met her in Break the Ice her cousin Skylar’s book. I laughed a lot while reading this one, but it also delivered on the heat and heart. It’s a second chance romance. I really loved watching Chelsea and Dean found their way again and the path of forgiveness. You know it’s a good book when you hate to see it end and it leaves your happy sighing. One of the things that stood out for me was the baseball references in this book. Dean and Chelsea are fans of the game which made me love them even more. The set up for the next book has me so intrigued because I don’t know how the hero of the book is going to win me over based on what Hannah has dished about him. I know Piper Rayne won’t let me down.
Chelsea is a straight laced, no holds barred talker, who works with two women who have become her best friends. The highlights for these women, have been the outrageous stories Chelsea regales of her experiences in the scary world of dating. Chelsea has been hurt so while she keeps things light, dating guys the opposite of her ex, she just isn’t finding anyone that piques her interest.
Dean is a tax attorney. He is successful, attractive, and everything that Chelsea craves in a man. One problem, he is the ex that Chelsea swore she would never let herself fall for again.
The two have a “run-in” with one another that simply changes the course of both of their lives. For better or worse, these two have a past full of hurts and scars; and a future that is anyone’s guess.
I suggest that you treat yourself to a dose of pure joy and indulge in an afternoon of delight.
Afternoon Delight is the second book in the Charity Case series, and the first series of Piper Rayne’s that I have read. I read the book quickly, over the course of a weekend, and found many aspects of this second-chance romance irresistible.
This is the story of Chelsea, a woman who is rebuilding her life after the end of her impulsive first marriage. Since divorcing her husband five years ago, Chelsea has found professional success working at the RISE Foundation. Despite the heartbreak she’s endured, she’s still looking for her Mr. Right, albeit without much luck. When her boss sends her on a work errand to the tax attorney’s office, she suddenly comes face to face with her past. Dean Bennett has grown up a bit since Chelsea was married to him, and unfortunately for her, he’s also grown more attractive. Despite his matured looks and new career as an attorney, Chelsea is wary of Dean and his sudden reappearance in her life.
As it turns out, Dean’s divorce from Chelsea was the wake-up call he needed to straighten up his act. He’s spent years turning his life around, hoping to become the man Chelsea deserves. And now that he’s ready to win her back, Dean’s pursuit of her is unrelenting. Even while the former couple can quickly fall back into their sexy banter, Dean knows he cannot simply seduce Chelsea in order to win back her heart and her trust. Dean will do anything it takes to show her that a tiger can changes his stripes.
Afternoon Delight is a great continuation of the Charity Case series. I found myself drawn to Dean’s sexual energy, and frankly was cheering for the moment when Chelsea would once again accept Dean back into her heart. At one point, Dean is described as a “briefcake” (a beefcake in a suit), and there really is no better description for him. He’s smart, impulsive, sexy, ambitious, and so very athletic.
If you’re looking for a fast, fun, second-chance romance then I gladly recommend Afternoon Delight to you. I enjoyed the story from the beginning and only found myself investing more of my heart with each turn of the page. I look forward to concluding the series this summer when book three is released in July.
I absolutely loved Chelsea and Dean’s story. I’m a fan of second chance romance and this is an example of the sub-genre done perfectly.
I feel like Piper Rayne have been hitting out of the park with the men on this series. I loved Reed, and now I feel like I equally love Dean just in a different way and for different reasons. I’m so used to the ex-husbands in the story being the bad guy. I’m still not quite sure I feel like the ex of the last book is redeemable enough to deserve his own story. But Dean? Dean was absolutely deserving and I loved everything about him, especially his journey to become the man he is now.
Chelsea was exactly what I had been expecting from the glimpses I got in Manic Monday. Comfortable in her own skin but with very high walls to protect herself. And those walls are in place because of the very man who wants her back. Despite everything I learned, peice by peice of their past. I was still very much rooting for them to resolve everything. I felt like Dean was the man for her and I just kept flying through the pages, heart in my throat, hoping she would see it too.
Once again Piper Rayne gave a fantastic ending that’s going to have me wishing Happy Hour were ready to release already. Just a little tease, but enough to keep the next book in my mind until I can get it in my hands.
Dean and Chelsea got married when they were young, but their lives spiraled out of control and they ended up divorced. Five years later, Dean is ready to be the man that Chelsea needs and he’s willing to do anything to win her back. Afternoon Delight is a sweet, romantic, and hilarious second chance romance that will have you swooning.
Chelsea and Dean met in college and fell in love at first sight. Dean was a Senior being scouted as a baseball pitcher by the MLB and Chelsea was a freshman. They married on impulse in Vegas and were divorced four months later after Dean’s partying ended his baseball career and their marriage. Fast forward five years and Chelsea is working at the RISE charity where she delivers tax information to their new attorney, who happens to be her ex. Dean has turned his life around and wants to have a second chance with Chelsea. This is a fun second chance romance.
Every time Piper Rayne puts out a book, I can’t wait to start reading it. This book is one of their best. First, I love second chance books, but you do not usually have a couple that marries, divorces, and then gets back together again, which is what you have here. The chemistry between Dean and Chelsea is about a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10. Then, along with that heat, there is also a sweetness that is just like pure sugar. When you are not needing a fan, or melting while reading this book, then you are laughing, or even crying. I love Chelsea. She is such a strong woman, but we can see her softness too. I also love Dean. He has spent the last 5 years becoming a better person, and becoming the man that Chelsea deserves. You get all this, and while reading it, you will laugh out loud at times. A little laughter really adds so much to the book. I not only highly recommend this book, I think it is a must read.
Oh man did Dean have to work to make Chelsea fall cor him a second time. He was still the same person he just had to make her see he was a smart man now not a stupid boy. Chelsea know he heart her once and she’s not wanting to go there again. Dean knows what he wants and goes after it 110%. Parts of this story had me in tears their past was so hard but their love was so beautiful it makes you love them both.
Piper Rayne returns with the second book in their Charity Case series which is about a second chance at love. Chelsea Walsh was only married for four months and has been divorced for 5 years. Focused on getting her life back on track, she has been using dating apps without success. Readers who have read Piper Rayne’s Manic Monday will remember her best buds Hannah and Victoria who work with her at RISE, a charitable foundation for empowering women. These three ladies have the most hilarious conversations reflecting their love and support of one another. As Marketing Director for RISE, Chelsea is shocked when she encounters Dean Bennett, a tax attorney who volunteered to do pro bono work for RISE and who also happens to be her ex-husband!! Was this a coincidence? The readers will quickly realize that there is still serious chemistry between Chelsea and Dean along with unresolved issues that led to their divorce. Dean convinces Chelsea to give him a second chance to prove he has really changed. While they easily pick up where they left off in the bedroom (and kitchen and living room and front door), family interference and the upcoming wedding of her cousin Skylar makes it impossible to keep their reunion on the down low. What I loved most about this story was how Dean was able to convince Chelsea that he has truly changed. After a devastating injury that ruined his chances at a professional baseball career, he got his act together and became a successful lawyer. He gets along great with kids quickly winning over Victoria’s daughter Jade as well has Chelsea’s nieces and nephews. He sends Chelsea thoughtful romantic gifts that have special meaning. Most importantly is how Dean shows his love to Chelsea with his words and body! Their afternoon trists are truly romantic and guaranteed to curl your toes!
Afternoon Delight is the second book in the Charity Case series and I absolutely loved it. This is Dean and Chelsea’s story and Piper Rayne gave us all the feels with this novel.
Dean was so sexy and charming and it was easy to see why Chelsea fell in love with him, and Chelsea was so feisty and carefree. Together these two had intense chemistry and you were rooting for them to get back together inspite of all that happened in the past. The secondary characters all added support and balance to the story and I loved them all.
This second chance novel was such a great read, it will have you believing in second changes. A well written story-line, great characters and a HEA ending all add up to making this a 5-star read. The books in this series just keep getting better and better and I would highly recommend this story.
Chelsea and Dean are taking off in the second book in this series ! I am loving these characters .
Chelsea has had love and lost it ..so she thought. If you were given a second chance would you try ? Would you take it ? Well Chelsea is just running an errand for her boss dropping off legal papers when she finds herself right in the middle of her ex-husbands office.
Dean knows that his marriage to Chelsea was so right but then he ruined it . His mistakes cost him the women he loved. He has know found himself in a better place and wants a second chance . They had magic and he wants to remind her of that !
They have spark, banter, sexual energy , and oh so many memories. Chelsea is sure that a leopard does not change it’s spots but Dean may be cat to show her a few new tricks!
Loved them !

Swoon! I loved Afternoon Delight even more than I did Manic Monday. I was really excited to read Chelsea’s story after being really impressed with her in Manic Monday, and here in her own story she shines even more.
She’s on her way to make a delivery for her boss, and she’s late, when lo and behold, who does the tax attorney she’s making the delivery to turn out to be? None other than her ex-husband, the man who decimated her heart 5 years ago. Chelsea’s body is still attracted to this charmer, but her mind, and her heart? Yeah, not so much, or at least that’s what she tells herself. So when he starts making serious noise about wanting a second chance with her, she can’t resist and soon she’s letting him back into her bed. Just not her heart, at least not completely, because the walls she erected after their whirlwind marriage and subsequent divorce, are higher than ever around Dean (love the name btw!).
I was seriously rooting for these two as the pages flew by. He was so sweet and so determined to be in her life again and it was obvious he was a changed man. And Chelsea was the same sassy, irrepressible woman she was in Manic Monday only better, because we got to see her whole self, her heart, and why she didn’t let anyone in deep where it counts.
Piper Rayne just keep getting better as this series goes on. Afternoon Delight is even sweeter, even sexier, and more swoon worthy in this second chance. Dean and Chelsea are so adorable together that I can’t stand it. I know I called dibs on Reed in Manic Monday but I’m going to have to do the same with Dean. There’s just something about the men in this series that check off all my boxes: sweet – check, sexy – check, swoony – check, and charming af – check and double check. I just know that Roarke is going to be just as sexy and swoony as Reed and Dean, in his and Hannah’s story, (Happy Hour), can’t wait!
I love when I see a book from Piper Rayne land on my kindle because I know that I’m fixing to be immersed into a whole new world for an entire day. And I’m never disappointed and guess what they did it again with Dean and Chelsea!! And, and I have a new word from it!!! You know like we got Unicorn Cock!!! Now, now ladies and gentlemen we have “Vag Badger “!!!! Omg I freakin love it!!! Ok ok now do you believe in second chances? Do you think people can change? See Chelsea is trying to figure out if Dean can. When he all of a sudden pops back into her life wanting her back. Cause you see Dean is her ex-husband. And he says is changed and it really looks like he has. All new job, new way of life, almost new way of everything but can a person really change that much? Piper and Rayne spin this story so well that you don’t quite know whether to believe if Dean has changed or not. Plus there’s stuff from the past they hint at that could still cause problems but you don’t know for sure if you are right are not until it all comes out. And buddy does it all come out, it some big surprises in this book! But Chelsea is holding back not trusting Dean and that could be the biggest problem of all. Will she ever fully forgive him? And did he really change? Guess you will find out when you read this book!!
As usual I was totally devoured into this book within minutes and didn’t stop reading until I was done with the book. It was one of the best second chance romance books I’ve ever read. This book was witty, romantic and a little bit mysterious all wrapped up in a perfect package,( and not the man meat kind either .. lol). I highly recommend this book!!!!
